Interestingly, it connects to the ed2k network fine. All the host discovery services fail to return results. Workaround: Copy HostCache.dat from a working Shareaza install to ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/profiles/user/Application Data/Shareaza/Data/ Thoughts: It could be that Shareaza can't connect to web-based discovery services at all. Once it has working hosts to connect to it has other methods of discovering new hosts.
