You might be right, it's not major. It is however annoying, and didn't happen
with older versions.
Let me know if I could help somehow in tracking down the error.

This is Wine's desktop piece - explorer.
Except I wouldn't say it's major.

Summary: games using full screen mode leave "dirt" on desktop
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.14.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: wine-directx
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: lothalev(a)gmail.com
Games running fullscreen (probably only using resolution lower than desktop
resolution) leave cyan-black background on exit (the same as wine's virtual
desktop). The screen has to be manually refresh to fix it.
Using KDE 2.5.2, Xorg (happening both in 6.8 and 7) with Intel 852/855GM
chipset, DRI.
It didn't happen before about 0.9.10 version of wine, neither happens with any
other application.

Nevermind, it is a less of a problem but it still slows it down significantly
when you are updating multiple items at once. For example, I am updating > 4 or
5 things at once and it is significantly unresponsive.
To see an example of this compair the bandwidth monitor graph while doing
updates and AFTER doing updates, you will see it is significantly FASTER on the
later.
Attaching logfile.log, with all the error messages I got.

dsound full debug log for Cave Story, running under Wine 0.9.14
OS: Ubuntu 5.10 (Breezy Badger)
Version: Wine 0.9.14
Game: Cave Story v1.0.0.6
Command: WINEDEBUG=dsound wine Doukutsu.exe
The game frequently and briefly lags during certain points in the music, and
the debug output corresponds to this with 'DSOUND_MixOne underrun on sound
buffer' or 'DSOUND_MixInBuffer length not a multiple of block size, len = ##odd
number##, block size = 2'
I have not been able to determine which error causes the stuttering of the
game's speed.

Ok, after a reinstall of Ubuntu and a brand new Wine 0.9.14, I continue to have
the problem. Although its definitely nowhere near as slow as before (I guess it
was XGL causing it) but now it seems as fast as it is under Windows. Its just
that the polygons for the map (triangles) are not rendered, all I see are the
edges. I tried a bunch of different settings within Soldat to try and fix it, to
no avail.
