Well, I did, except bug 5253 seems to deal mainly with a font issue, and nothing
generated by the basic wine crash dump indicated to me it was a font issue, and
after reading through the entire thread and trying all the suggested solutions,
nothing worked.

I can confirm the bug, but I think it's rather a bug in the imput handling.
For me, I can get it to work with the following:
I join battle.net, I quit battle.net. Now StarCraft hangs, e.g. pressing escape
doesn't get me back. I move the mouse, the swooshing of controls are audible,
screen is still black. Escape still doesn't work. I click somewhere on the screen.
The OK and Cancel buttons appear, moving the mouse reveals the rest of the
screen, Escape works now.
Given that I can get it to unblock while moving the mouse, I think something
blocks in the input handling.

Summary: Wine reports not enough free memory to apps
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.28.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-binary
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: tomek(a)xiaoka.com
I have most my memory used for disk cache (preload).
smoku@wing ~ $ free
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 1034328 1012340 21988 0 18108 399948
-/+ buffers/cache: 594284 440044
Swap: 1068312 40 1068272
So there is about 420MB free memory (free + cached).
But WINWORD complains that it has not enough memory to open any document.
I guess it got reported only 43MB of pure free memory and that is really not much.
Or maybe I'm wrong with my guess?
There's also plenty of free disk space:
/dev/sda3 30G 29G 1,2G 97% /

Hmm. There may be a second regression: google earth 4 with today's
git never finishes logging in to the server, but wine-0.9.28 logs in fine.
This is the case regardless of whether I've reverted the three patches
Lei pointed out.

Lei added in a private email:
[The regression is a] huge login status window came up. xwininfo says:
xwininfo: Window id: 0x2600017 "Google Earth - Login Status"
Absolute upper-left X: -4598
Absolute upper-left Y: 932
Relative upper-left X: 0
Relative upper-left Y: 0
Width: 32761
Height: 122
I've only seen this particular regression on dual screen systems,
for what it's worth. (This is unrelated to the black overdraw problem.)

I have Google Earth installed, and I tried running the installer again. Then I
cancelled the installer and quit installshield without causing the assertion.
Marking this one fixed.
