Was this bug ever resolved? I have the same error going for me with
SimCIty 3000. I'd appreciate any advice you can give me. I'm using
Debian Etch and compiled 0.9.28 WINE directly from winehq.org

Heh,
It seems I forgot to put do and done into my while loop:
while true ; do killall -STOP wineserver ; sleep 0.2s ; killall -CONT wineserver
; sleep 5s ; done
It seems the above loop doesn't work always (don't know why). You might need to
increase the first sleep timeout, but you wont get good gameplay with this
"solution" anyways :P
Also sorry for my terrible english, it seems that tonight it's especially bad
for some reason.

The game is running.
I tested it with wine 0.9.9 and 0.9.28.
Which version did you take?
I think we can change this bug to "not reproduceable".

Well, I got it running with some workarounds...
However, I don't get the error that you were running into, I've created 10+
characters without issue now.

I tried MOO2 in with older wine versions, and it seems this bug persists even
with wine versions as old as 0.9.8 (coudln't compile any older wine, probably
because of current gcc issues with old code).
AFAICR, Moo2 used to work on some wine versions past that, but now it doesn't.
Could it be that something else has been updated on most distributions, and that
makes wineserver misbehave with Moo2? I'm not a programmer, so I don't know if
this is possible - just my 2 cents...
Can anyone confirm the last wine version in which Moo2 used to work (or works)?
BTW, since stopping and continuing wineserver makes the cursor move for a few
seconds if it hangs, Moo2 is kind of playable with 'while true ; killall -STOP
wineserver ; sleep 0.2s ; killall -CONT wineserver ; sleep 5s' ;)
