The Demo starts fine. So this should be marked fixed.
Still fails when going ingame, but this is described in bug #6183

thanks -- that gets me further. i also had to put a copy of msdart.dll into
system32 to get the installer to start.
alas, i get as far as the splash screen (picture of woman, smiling lovingly at
her PC), i then get a bigger gray window, and all action stops. the log is
attached. clearly i'm missing the macromedia libs, but i can't really tell in
the log which libs are eventually satisfied, and which aren't. (for instance,
there are still warnings about not finding msdart.dll, but no message saying it
was found.)
as for macromedia -- do i need to install a windows version of this, or is wine
looking for the unix version of this?
thanks again for all your help. if this bug should be closed, and the thread
taken back to the list, just let me know.

Java 6 works.
Its installer seems to require native version of msiexec and/or winver=win98 though.

Yes, I see I misread pABC for lpABC which is also used in that
function. So I thought I could remove the zero initialisations and
instead allocate the structures width HEAP_ZERO_MEMORY. I will
send a patch to fix it.

shfldr_nethood implementation from crossover 6.0.0
Here's the My Network Places implementation from Crossover 6.0.0 source tree.
It gives some integer type warnings (%lu vs. %u), but seems to work OK. I
compiled the Ubuntu Edgy package with this and the half-proprietary Java
application can now browse the filesystem.
Using
- 64bit Ubuntu Edgy (installed the package with --force-architecture)
- i586 JRE6
BTW, it seems like JRE6 works much better that previous versions, for example
Calendar stuff works too (there was something wrong with locales and/or
timezones with Java 1.4.x and 1.5.x IIRC)

Vitaliy Margolen (thank you) was right problems occurred with gl settings:
checking gl settings throgh nvidia-settings tool gave the same effect.
So I purged xlibmesa-gl xlibmesa-gl-dev xlibmesa-dri and reinstalled/recompiled
nvidia drivers and now it works!
