Summary: Steams blocks all other OSS sound
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.46.
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: wine-programs
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: xoxion(a)gmail.com
When you launch a game through steam with the OSS driver, you won't hear
anything because steam is using the OSS driver and blocks it for everything
else...
So... That needs to be fixed :)

Closing fixed. It might not work for all languages, but it does work for
English.

The original ansi.sys was a DOS vt100 console driver.
(I wrote a replacement, nansi.sys, which is now part of FreeDOS.)
How strange that name should be showing up again.
It almost certainly isn't the same thing.

Don't change original reported version.
Try with a clean .wine directory, following the guide Dan posted in comment #1.
Report back with your results.

Quite possible, wine 0.9.47 introduced a Tahoma compatible font. Reporter, can
you confirm this is fixed?

After trial ran out, I stopped using photoshop but now that I need it again I
tried just a normal install of photoshop and it just freezes on opening an
application. No errors are being printed. So I retry a trial and install over
the top.

With 0.9.47 Starcraft runs fast like in Windows (opengl renderer and
RenderTargetLockMode = readtex), but Red Alert 2 is still slow while moving
mouse pointer.

For me it doesn't work anyway when shaders are set to anything but the lowest;
parts of the game are displayed fine but parts are garbled, like the output is
smeared together.

yes.

ansi.sys is a file copyed to system32/drivers from Windows XP installation. If
there is a stub driver, ill be glad to install it instead of real drivers. But
i have no such stub drivers. Ive tryed ext2fs.sys, results are the same, temp
files were called "wext2fs".

I'm adding this to the 1.0 list on behalf of Command & Conquer 3.
C&C3 has a demo and is the 3rd top voted entry in the AppDB.
