Right, poor wording on my side. It's not just a missing redraw, the window is
completly dead - wine seems to minimize to tray (for no reason?) on a desktop
switch but the X11 window stays open. Using the tray to maximize a window which
is already there is an easy but completly unintuitive workaround. Changing
description and upgrading to major again...

Hello there, I don't know if I should bother you all with this, but I've got BF2
working reasonably with wine and got the same anomalies as mentioned in this
bug. Since I've played this game too much I'm pretty certain the strange sky
'overhang' is in fact some kind of overlay texture for the ground. It occured to
me because where there should be mountains visible on the horizon there are
instead strange bumps in the sky 'overhang'. And also when the 'overhang'
touches the place where there should be a ground, it shortly becomes visible.....
That's why it shifts down when you look down and disapears when you look up.
(It's the horizon that's moving upside down). So my guess is if wine is able to
map this texture on the ground where it should be, there will be a lot of
improvement in the complete look of BF2. Maybe even make it playable. Bu I have
no idea in which feature/API-call this would have to be fixed.
Since I am completely new to the source in wine I have no patch, but I will try
to look into this now.

the cursor needs proper hardware support as currently the cursor is drawn into
the backbuffer while the default X cursor stays visible
so the cursor should be blanked when using software mode and cursor is over the
game screen/window or even better use hardware cursor when possible

Hello,
for the output in attachment 4929, I started with an empty windows directory,
and an empty registry. Think it's a red herring.
I will attach output from using my windows (2000) install, including an mfc42.dll.

A couple things look fishy:
1. "Warning: the specified System directory L"c:\\windows\\system32" is not
accessible."
Do you have a properly set up .wine directory?
2. "err:module:import_dll Library MFC42.DLL (which is needed by
L"D:\\MATLABR14\\toolbox\\matlab\\winfun\\ocx\\mwsamp.ocx") not found"
Do you have a copy of mfc42.dll installed in e.g. c:\windows\system32?
