A similar patch has been accepted and this should work in wine starting from
wine 0.9.31

If the EULA does not permit it (which does not mean the EULA can forbid it) I
would advice you to formally complain at competition authorities as a company.
Or as a private person at the European Consumer Liasion office:

When you don't report it, nothing is documented at the authorities and they
cannot act without a formal complaint. Microsoft is on their watchlist and they
will welcome all substancial inputs.
