Summary: Vector NTI "remote sources" listview causes crash
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: Other
URL: http://download.invitrogen.com/evergreen/Vector%20NTI%20
Advance%2010.exe
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-comctl32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: mk144210(a)bcm.tmc.edu
In Vector NTI, if you are using builtin comctl32 and you hit open and then click
on the "Remote Sources" tab it causes a page fault on read access to 0x000000000
in mfc71. With native comctl32 this bug does not occur (the switching to this
tab clears the listview, hence why I think it is listview; also, since native
comctl32 fixes this problem it is definitely a comctl32 problem of some sort).
*** I am having trouble debugging this because WINEDEBUG=+relay also _fixes this
bug_ ***

this fix works! ===> Re: [Bug 7407] numpad keys do not work in app RB3D
I tried it out, this fixes the problem.
( all other numeric keys of numpad also did not function as they should;
they do now. )
thanks a lot, makes the game a gold one.

I'm running Wine 0.9.31 on Debian stable, and when I got to run the installer
for Conquer Online, it brings up the splash, and starts to install but gives me
an unhandled exception. The following is displayed on the console.

Sorry, I've been unsubscribed from the mailing lists for quite some time after I
gave up trying to learn how to code for wine :(
All I can say is the patch worked 100%.

In the testapp the allocated block (bb) is not large enough for 100x100x32
image.
Rising the size up from 4000 to 40000 heals the application. I could see a
black square in the upper-left corner.

The stubs provided by Hans in
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-patches/2007-February/036050.html
prevent the crash, but the installer keeps running forever
after wineboot, outputting
fixme:setupapi:SetupDiGetClassDevsW : returning empty list
fixme:setupapi:SetupDiEnumDeviceInterfaces 0x169c20, (nil),

once a second or so.

Created an attachment (id=5013)
--> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=5013&action=view)
New (hope this time relevant) tail
OK, though I'm trying the splitdebug thing in gentoo which should make possible
to debug without including all the stripped symbols in the output... By now I
just untarred the 0.9.31 (as I noticed it is new, wanted to try if it might
have been fixed AND my previous outputs were not useful at all) under ~,
./configured as default with CFLAGS="-ggdb3 -O0 -pipe -fno-strict-aliasing" and
run the binary.
Previous I:\ path didn't work because of some problem with the paths which I
bet has to do with the old 0.9.30 config still functioning, but the program
still works downloading under C:\temp with same results. This time I see
function parameters on those lines, thanks for pointing out what to look for
^^, and hope they are useful now... As before, it seems to hang only when I
change to another window and then back, and I don't think that *every* single
time that I do it, as I seem to recall some alt-tabs to firefox that worked
before the crash... I have opened only firefox, gnome listen and gaim under
2.6.16.
By the way, I didn't run that msdn downloader the previous comment suggested,
but from the look of screenshots from google images I'd say that the thing I'm
running is definitely not the same. I have uploaded a screenshot of the program
here, which is in spanish -my mother tongue :P-:

(but please don't hammer too hard my little 96-meg home server under a paltry
50KB-upload dsl! ;)

Crap... There indeed seems to be something causing a crash here on my side now.
I noticed I do have posted a completed result for that latest test earlier,
although with an earlier version of Wine and core and several other differences.
I ran several of the earlier tests again, and they all keep failing now, so
there must be something wrong with my current system.
I just have no clue what that might be. I just wonder how I can find out the
reason.
Sorry for the hassle. :(
