I have samba installed, as well as libntlm0 and libntlm0-dev (this is under wine 0.9.41, ubuntu feisty). I also tried your suggestion in comment 8, but that did not work. I ran the install from a shell and got no error logs, output of any kind really.. I will try again and send in what I get though.. :( sorry.
