It will go between the two versions, find the 'middle' patch and compile there. If it works, the patch that broke it is somewhere after the 'middle', If it doesn't, it broke somewhere before. After running a few compiles like that, eventually you'll fine the patch that broke this. Anyway, for my personal research, can you confirm that the top information you posted corresponds to the time when the open/save dialog is open? There is nothing special in my kernel.org kernel. I'm not even using the Con Kolivas patchset I was using last time I tried this with Wine 0.9.39 (and got the same result). And those patches replaced the scheduler completely... By the way, I don't understand what you are referring to.
