I'm also seeing this on wine 0.9.42 with mono 1.2.4. Mono searches for
advapi32.dll, kernel32.dll, user32.dll, and ole32.dll in "C:\Program
Files\Mono-1.2.4\lib\mono\2.0\" directory, doesn't find them, then dies after
loading mscorlib.dll.dll.la.
That filename only returns one hit from Google, this bug. :) I get the feeling
something very basic isn't right, like a PATH or something. I'm essentially
unable to do anything at all with mono, even the basic "OK" script on their
site doesn't work (attempts to invoke the compiler fail silently in the same
way).
I've filed a bug upstream with the Mono project:

Is this still the case with current winetests? Eventhough the system rebooted
there should be a results file named res[some number] in your %TEMP% folder.
Could you attach that? How are you so sure it's the 'reg' test from 'ntdll'?

I'm trying to reproduce here finally. I borrowed a
pressure-sensitive pad, enabled it in Linux Gimp following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wacom,
and verified that Linux can see useful pressure data.
Next step is to try syspress, I guess.

I also encountered this bug. I fixed it simply by copying windows fonts folder
to linux fonts folder in /usr/share/fonts.

Can you do the same with an old Wine version? I don't see anything wrong in the
log. It would be really nice to have something to compare against.

Summary: 0.9.43 breaks Sherlock
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.43.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-misc
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: marcw(a)onlymooo.com
Created an attachment (id=7578)

Backtrace for 0.9.43
I've been successfully using Scott Ritchie's Ubuntu packages for quite some
time, updating as they become available all the while. The primary purpose for
me is an old Win95 game called Sherlock. I just updated to 0.9.43 and it
immediately breaks Sherlock. Backing up to any previous version fixes things.
Backtrace attached.

Also the signaling of console handles differs from file handler. We will
probably have to use overlapped IO in case the input handle is not a console
handle.
