Still happening with latest wine-git. Native msvcrt fixes it.
Also, test2.mak needs to be:
all:
echo "foo"

from attachment 7373:
bufmgr_fake.c:1245: bmReleaseBuffers: Assertion `intel->locked' failed.
that looks like a problem with your 3d driver, not with wine.

It is up to your distribution to handle the menu entries. Wine sets it up the
way the FreeDesktop standard specifies, so it works in KDE/GNOME/etc, but it is
up to your particular distribution to support it.
Works fine for me in Kubuntu and Ubuntu, resolving invalid.

Not completely related to this bug, but perhaps it's time to think about
an upgrade?

You have it. In the case of missing XRender extenstion font support is limited
to X11 device fonts.
What do you have SONAME_LIBXRENDER set to in include/config.h?

The crash after the intro should be fixed in current git. I don't see the
msvcr80 issue.

I do not know. How that is relevant for wrong letters?

So this seems to be the secret to WINE's success-stories.
You simply supress all failure-reports.
I know for a fact that this bug is real.
