The installer queries a table that is empty, so the installer bails because, I guess, it expects the table to not be empty. With "allow window manager to control the windows" on, the described errors occur. Switching it off solves the problem. Resolutions below and including 1024*768 work just fine even with the option set. "Enable Sounds in Background" does work for a workaround. Also, when switching from WoW to another workspace on GNOME, the screen goes black as if it's trying to change resolutions. However, when I select a game from the my games tab and click the install button or right click and choose install on the context menu, Steam crash with the following error : Steam.exe (main exception) Win32 StructuredException at 7BF6BBE5 Attempt to read from virtual address 0 without appropriate access rights.
