the msi tmp files have always been in the temp directory, if you do not enter a
key it should still install as it does in windows, if you just press next past
the key boxes it still gives the 1603 error the same as before with current wine
from git.

Wait for at least one of the bugs to be fixed. Wine's d3d code full of subtle
bugs that can brake lots and lots of things.
Also loads of reports like this are really helpful. Just looking at the image
won't tell anything about what happens and why does it happen.
However all of the problems you just reported are either known problems (in
other games) or the duplicates of each other.
It doesn't matter that you get these errors in different parts of the game.

Reopening then. Gregor, you better get some 'bt' traces yourself, as no one can
experiment with a game they don't have.
Run Wine under the winedbg, then when it hangs, press ctrl-c and when you get
prompt, type 'bt all'. Then attach here. But please make sure you do have Wine
compiled from source and that you running from that compile directory (so
binaries are not stripped and you have source).

I have recompiled wine and run warcraft 3 from the build directory and I can
confirm this is still happening.
