Summary: winebrowser does not handle commands with arguments
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.59.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: programs
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: yuriy.kozlov(a)gmail.com
winebrowser doesn't work with browsers/commands that
are more than one word. For example, the command to run konqueror
with the webbrowsing profile on kubuntu is:
kfmclient openProfile webbrowsing [url]
Setting that to be the first attempted webbrowser in the registry:
[HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-4\Software\Wine\WineBrowser]
"Browsers"="kfmclient openProfile webbrowsing,firefox,mozilla,opera,dillo"
and running:
winebrowser http://www.winehq.org
yields this:
Considering: kfmclient openProfile webbrowsing
argv[1]: http://www.winehq.org
Considering: firefox
argv[1]: http://www.winehq.org
I sent in a patch for this a while ago, this is the latest revision:
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-patches/2007-January/034937.html
The patch had some problems and I haven't gotten back to working on it. Now it
probably needs to be updated for the latest changes to winebrowser.
As part of the solution, the patch changes the registry key that stores the
browsers to try to a REG_MULTI_SZ value. Since this changes the wineprefix,
this should be fixed before 1.0.

I am running 0.9.59 on Fedora 7. My install is slightly unusual because it is
running with a non-root prefix. The look fine in every application except
iexpore. The only relevant registry change from defaults is to increase DPI to
160.
Because of another bug involving fonts, this installation was created using the
patch in #12507. It is possible that these issues are related.

Hello,
When I want to do anything with wine, i.e. start winecfg, start a windows
program with wine, run regedit... wine crashes (in fact it doesn't even open)
and creates an "uninterruptible" process. See attached file for terminal output
when starting.
I don't use dos programs, I already tried to erase .wine folder, it happens
also when running winecfg.
I'm not alone in that case. See ubuntu-fr forums.

Screenshot of the problem
The screen in C&C 3 Tiberium Wars is divided into a bright and a dark part,
divided by a horizontal line; say 2/3 of the upper part is bright.
I'd assume this depends on graphics settings or minor differences in nVidia
card versions; I'll provide more info later.
There is a demo of this app; I'll test it as soon as I have determined the
offending card or graphics settings.

Serial port errors
Hi!!
This is my first time here. First of all, thanks to you folks for this great
piece of software.
My problem is as follows:
I'm using a VisualBasic 6.0 application on Linux using wine 0.9.58. This
application has some menus showing some icons so users can click on them using
a serial port device made by a friend of mine, through serial port, which acts
as a "keyboard". Serial port is connected to com1 symlinking it from
/dev/ttyS0. Everything works fine, except that sometimes, apparently randomly,
application freezes when changing from one screen to another, having to wait
many seconds for it to continue it's execution.
The best I have been able to do is to make the application run faster in
general, so this time gets shorter, but we are still speaking of many seconds.
Some information about the application: it reads and writes data from and to
the serial port, using 9600 baud rate, com1. It opens it, reads the
information, changes the screen or menu, and then closes the port again. It
does so many times during the execution. Everything works fine on Windows XP.
Can anyone help??
I attach some debugging information. Original file, using
"WINEDEBUG=trace+comm" was 100MiB sized, so I have just cut and pasted the more
relevant into the file
