Summary: AppDB front page doesn't handle obsolete versions of
online games
Product: WineHQ Apps Database
Version: unspecified

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: website-bugs
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org

The AppDB front page shows a version of WoW that is obsolete as a Gold rating.
I believe this is because the page is generated via the number of votes users
place against an app, and doesn't take into account whether the version is no
longer live.
This is a self-feeding issue, as people will come to the page and place votes
against the version they see (people are lazy), not what they actually use -
thus further feeding it's high-vote count and leaving it on the front page.
>From email discussion with Alexander Sørnes and Chris Morgan:
Alexander:
How is the following:
We add an 'obsolete' checkbox on the version edit page, with a help text
explaining that this should be used in cases where the version can no longer
be used because it depends on connecting to a server etc.
When a user checks this, he is asked which version its votes should be moved
to, and it is no longer possible to vote for that version.

Although I am only maintainer of GTA Vice City, I am theoretically able to move
child objects between different applications by using the URL
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?bIsQueue=false&bIsRejected=false&…,
which I find in every application entry although I am sure that I didn't ask
for being a AppDB maintainer.

There used to be a panel on the website where you could vote for the top 3
applications that you wanted improved. However even though there are still
vote stats and instructions you can't vote on anything.

Summary: Call of Cthulhu: Slow and jerky mouse movement
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.58.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: directx-dinput

ReportedBy: vkojouharov(a)gmail.com
In Call of Cthulhu (
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=3981 ), the
mouse movement in the main (or any other) menu, as well as the inventory
system, is extremely slow and jerky. When moving the mouse, the cursor will not
move, but after a second or two, will teleport somewhere in the intended
directory.
This is actually a regerssion. Prior to 0.9.56, the mouse was slow, but with
0.9.56, the problem was fixed. With 0.9.57 however, the problem was
resurrected, and it is still present in 0.9.58.
p.s. This is not related to the same bug, but I don't know whether I should
file a new bug for this. The same game is at least twice as slow, as compared
to Vista. Furthermore, the texture on the skybox looks like an extremely
compressed jpeg picture of a sky, with only a few colors (in windows, the
skybox looks fine).

Console output from Star Trek: Legacy
I have observed a problem on my KDE desktop where after running a Wine
application and closing it (either normally or killing it), the screen's gamma
is much higher.
This is easily rectifiable when I right-click on my KDE desktop, click
"Configure desktop" and then select "Display" - before even attempting to
change the settings, it automatically reverts back to what it should be.
I've only observed this running Star Trek: Legacy so far, of which there is no
demo, but I have attached my console output from that game in case it is
useful; and I'll update with further applications that do this should I find
them.

Summary: Half Life 2 Reflections reversed on real world
reflections option
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.47.
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: trivial
Priority: P2
Component: wine-directx-d3d
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: abc.mikey(a)googlemail.com
The reflections shown in water in game when in 'real world reflections' mode
are reversed on the far side of objects. That is to say that the reflection
starts out quite vague and fuzzy near the object and gets clearer and denser
further away. The whole thing gives the weird impression of there being a
flatter version of the object sat just on the opposite side of the object. The
most obvious example I can think of to demonstrate this is in HL2 Lost Coast
when you are walking along the jetty at the start of the game you can see a
collection of poles (the ones supporting the jetty) out at sea that slowly
become indistinct as they stretch toward the jetty. These poles move rapidly as
you move because they are always trying to stay opposite the jetty poles.
I'm running NVidia drivers 100.14.19. Wine 0.9.46 & 0.9.47 tested with the same
problem. I have tried it with "UseGLSL"="enabled" and
"OffscreenRenderingMode"="fbo" with no real difference.
My system is a:
Athlon64 Dual Core 4800,
Corsair 2GB DDR667,
Nvidia Geforce 8600GTS 256MB,
Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty 64bit
