Summary: DB-Library network communications layer not loaded
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.53.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: critical
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: rodrigovdr(a)gmail.com
I have here a app called CPJWCS, it's a client/server app that needs
communication with remote databases over TCP/IP. It was written on Delphi and
uses BDE to handle DB Access. Wine report me to install Wine Gecko, I did that.
I also have successfully installed the app and the BDE with Wine, but in the
time to load the app, it returned an General SQL error and cannot access the
remote DB. Then I have installed the unixODBC and FreeTDS, but the app didn't
run. I guess that the problem is something by the way with Wine handle database
access.
If someone could help, I'll be very thankful..

Summary: Buggy YeahWrite regression under Wine 0.9.47
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.47.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Component: wine-gdiplus
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: lamented_apparition(a)yahoo.com.ph
Distro: Mint Celena/Gnome
Tested YeahWrite 1.7 on 0.9.47 and it resulted into corrupt characters. Also,
previous version bugs are still present.
Tested YeahWrite on 0.9.41 (installed from Synaptic) and 0.9.46 and characters
overlap seemingly creating random characters.
Could also be that the previous deleted character is occupying the space of the
blank space afterwards.
Highlighting fixes the problem of the characters.
Another problem: Fonts except for the default don't format. Tested by trying to
turn text bold, italics and underline.
Problem is, Yeah Write on Wine can only turn the fonts into MS Sans Serif,
Courier, Small Fonts and System Fonts under Wine.
Installation - Tested through:
Running yeah write.exe downloaded from main site (yw32.exe)
Running yw.exe from portable flash drive
Running yw.exe from HD without installing from yw32.exe (Copy paste from
portable flash drive)
Ran under -
Win 3.1, Win98, WinXp, Win2000 settings
Also found similar bugs running AbiWord on Linux (installed from Synaptic, Not
run under wine)

The tool runs properly under 0.9.32 build on the same machine.

The lines that go down the log at first for a while are those of the program
loading the GUI, but then it changes when it reaches the mention of the
browser.
RealOne Player has streaming capabilities, and built in browser capabilities.
WINE will prompt to install Gecko. After the installation, the program crashes
completely, and will not start again until Gecko is removed.

winelog running Arindal with 0.9.57
The Arindal MMORPG-Client (http://www.arindal.com/) works just fine in 0.9.50
when disabling OpenGL in the client, no problems at all.
In 0.9.51, the player, inventory and text-windows disappear and can't be
switched back to appear... This was fixed in 0.9.52 it seems.
But still, there's still a problem displaying the Text-Windows, which should be
left of the game-screen (summary) and in a seperate window (complete text log).
The windows appear correctly, but the text fields seem to be missing.
Latest version i tested this was 0.9.57, where the bug still appears.
If it helps, the client seems to be using wxWidgets and I only tested it on
Ubuntu 7.10.
Attached the log trying to run it in 0.9.57.

Summary: fixme:winsock:WSASocketW Unsupported socket family -1!
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.53.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P1
Component: winsock
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: andrej.andolsek(a)gmail.com
Hello guys!
If I run Bitvise Tunnelier (Tunnelier.exe, installer can be downloaded from
www.bitvise.com/download-area) in Wine 0.9.53 I get the following problem when
I try to login (establish a TCP/IP connection):
fixme:winsock:convert_af_w2u unhandled Windows address family -1
fixme:winsock:WSASocketW Unsupported socket family -1!
---
This is how Tunnelier calls WSASocketW():
WSASocketW(FROM_PROTOCOL_INFO, FROM_PROTOCOL_INFO, FROM_PROTOCOL_INFO,
&m_protocolInfo, 0, WSA_FLAG_OVERLAPPED);
and FROM_PROTOCOL_INFO has the value of -1.
If you check WSASocket() in MSDN -
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms742212(VS.85).aspx - the 3rd
paragraph of Remarks says the following:
If the lpProtocolInfo is not NULL, the socket will be bound to the provider
associated with the indicated WSAPROTOCOL_INFO structure. In this instance, the
application can supply the manifest constant FROM_PROTOCOL_INFO as the value
for any of af, type, or protocol parameters. This indicates that the
corresponding values from the indicated WSAPROTOCOL_INFO structure
(iAddressFamily, iSocketType, iProtocol) are to be assumed. In any case, the
values specified for af, type, and protocol are passed unmodified to the
transport-service provider.
So, in dlls/ws2_32/socket.c WSASocketW() something like the code following
needs to be added (taking into account that the trasport-service provider
requirements doesn't affect Wine):
if (lpProtocolInfo)
{
if (af == FROM_PROTOCOL_INFO)
af = lpProtocolInfo->iAddressFamily;
if (type == FROM_PROTOCOL_INFO)
type = lpProtocolInfo->iSocketType;
if (protocol == FROM_PROTOCOL_INFO)
protocol = lpProtocolInfo->iProtocol;
}
So you see, it's a show stopper with a very simple solution.
Keep up the good work!
Andrej Andolsek
