On the first run, I got The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. but simply retrying got past that; there might be a race condition? The next problem is it complains about MSIE 4 being required. Dock project manager to top of main window. 2. Click form of project manager, right click the form to modify, choose modify. 3. Close form. 4. Turns out the downloadable trial installer eventually said that .net 2 installed ok, and what hadn't installed successfully was msxml 6, just as this bug report said. So I tried the patch A.F. pointed to. It doesn't apply cleanly today; I'll attach a rediffed version.
