When you add the dll files WAVMIX16.DLL and WING.DLL to the drive_c/SIMTOWER
directory the program will start then complain with
This Application uses WavMix16.DLL which has not been installed correctly.
WavMix16.dll must be in the windows system directory:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32
and wavemix.ini must be in the windows directroy:
C:\WINDOWS
btw... All of these files are in the locations specifed by this dialog box as
well.
Then next error message that comes up is
WavMix16
GetModuleFileName()=C:\SIMTOWER\WAVMIX16.DLL
The next error message is
SimTower did not detect a sound card or proper sound card drivers on this
system. Do you want to run Yes No.
If you choose yes then the program opens the opening title screen full screen
and does nothing. Had to CTRL+ALT+Backspace out of the program.
If you choose No. Then the program does not start. As expected.

I also have this problem. I have several Fedora 8 32-bit systems with GeForce
4 Ti 4200 cards and the bug is very reproducible on any version of WINE. Did
anyone else notice that the directx level defaults to Directx 6? I have tried
the dxlevel commands but they do not appear to improve the graphics even with
-dxlevel 80 which is appropriate for a GeForce 4 Ti card. I use the
kmod-nvidia-96xx driver and WINE 0.9.58. I also experience discolored textures
and a short draw distance for any movable objects. The problem appears in ANY
Source based game. Was anyone able to find a fix for this?
