The Cypress PSoC Designer is a free download (registration required).
A user reported that it was unstable on Wine
http://www.psocdeveloper.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=19873
so I gave it a try.
First, the app insists on having msxml3 sp2 or later,
and offers to install it for you. (If you decline,
the installer terminates.) Maybe we should advertise that version.
Anyway, I restarted the installer after using winecfg
to set native override on msxml3.
The installer got nearly all the way through, but crashed
at the very end with
trace:msi:MSI_OpenDatabaseW L"C:\\windows\\temp\\msifd7b.tmp" (null)
...
wine: Unhandled page fault on write access to 0x02e8d588 at address 0x7ef9e127
(thread 0009), starting debugger...
(The app seems to run anyway; I'll file more bugs later for runtime
misbehavior.)

Tried to run Roland's XV-Editor. This is a program that that controls settings
on an external XV-2020 synth. I believe it all works through midi sending SysEx
messages. The XV-2020 is connected via its USB-midi port. Same issue when
connect through midi ports. Otherwise midi with this unit seems fine as I
normally use it with Rosegarden and other linux midi sequencing software.

Summary: qq installer crashes near end

Platform: Other

Severity: normal

While doing my usual "find users complaining about wine"
search, I came across a user complaining about something called qq:
http://asasong.spaces.live.com/Blog/cns!8EFA9272DD95E921!516.entry
Wikipedia says qq is an *extremely* popular IM
program in China. It seems to be so popular that people
write programs that depend on it. So I tried installing it.
The installer first puts up a dialog with a single button.
Don't click on the button! It must say "cancel". The
dialog shows progress of some download or other.
After clicking on defaults (and one radio button),
install starts. But it crashes with an OLE problem:
wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00140000 at address 0xb7dc1cbc

Annoyingly, all the text is in Chinese but renders as ?????,
even after I install Ubuntu's chinese language support.

Simple enough issue - When installing DVD Profiler, a desktop icon is created.
This is fine, but the icon is of lower quality than those available in the exe
(I _think_ it is the 32x32-32bit icon, when a 48x48-32bit icon is available).
Windows XP uses the correct 48x48 icon.
This issues does not occur with other applications I've installed where similar
choices are available.

Summary: Broken dotnet2.0 setup

In latest wine dotnet2.0 installed with winetricks has problems.
I could only reproduce (up to now) with autocad setup; my old wineprefix with
dotnet2.0+autocad2005 inside works still good; a new setup in a clean
wineprefix don't.
The most evident error when launching autocad is here :
err:eventlog:ReportEventW L".NET Runtime Optimization Service
(clr_optimization_v2.0.50727_32) - Service reached limit of transient errors.
Will shut down. Last error returned from Service Manager: 0x80070005.\n"
It crashes some time later due to unimplemented gdi call.
In "old" wineprefix (setup somewhere after 1.0) the above error message don't
appear and the app runs still good.
I'd try a regression test, but as-is with no other way to reproduce is too time
expensive, as it requires a new wineprefix + dotnet+autocad setup on each run.
Ciao
Max

Summary: Firefox 3 dialog windows - wrong initial size, unable to
resize because window is moving instead of resizing
Product: Wine

window too small, resizing does not work
When running Firefox 3, displayed dialogs are of improper initial size and
cannot be resized - they are moved instead when you try to drag the border.
Propably this is not only Firefox-related, but a more general bug with windows
handling.
Some examples I caught are:
- first dialog after installation - do you want the firefox to become the
default browser
- properties of any bookmark
Bookmarks menu - right click a bookmark-> Properties
- restore crashed session
- customize toolbar -> add a new toolbar
- open (execute) downloaded application
- confirm closing of main windows, when you have multiple tabs open
- add live bookmark (RSS feed) dialog
- authentication required - for htpasswd protected sites
Steps to reproduce:
1. Get firefox from
http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-3.0&os=win&lang=en-US
2. run: wine "Firefox Setup 3.0.exe"
3. complete setup and install
4. Observe one of the above situations.

Summary: Fake Internet Explorer information missing from registry
Product: Wine

I checked out todays git and when I tried to install Gecko it just appeared. I
figured it had been downloaded when I executed wineprefixcreate because it took
a few minutes to execute instead of a few seconds.
However, when I started my normal install procedure things started failing, and
I discovered it was because all the fake Internet Explorer information was
missing from the registry. Specifically msxml4 and .NET 2.0 crashed immediately
when I tried to install them so I figured there wasn't any use in continuing.
Many programs need to be faked into thinking IE is installed or they won't
install.
So it looks like the auto-Gecko download isn't entering the fake IE6 stuff when
installing. That is, if I'm correct is assuming Gecko is now auto downloaded.
In any case, all the IE stuff is missing in the registry for some reason.
