Summary: Starcraft: Does not recognize CD when it is mounted
using fuseiso
Product: Wine
Version: 1.0.0
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: brian.s.croom(a)gmail.com
(Note: I am aware that Starcraft can now be run without a CD, but I imagine
this issue affects other programs [though not all! see below] so I am
submitting it anyway)
When I loop-mount the Starcraft CD with the normal mount method (superuser
required!) everything works fine. However if I instead use fuseiso
(https://sourceforge.net/projects/fuseiso/) the game complains about missing
the CD. Both were tested being mounted to the same directory, and confirmed
that in each case the files on CD were accessible through the same "dosdevice".
Clues:
- The regularly mounted image appears as type "iso9660" in /etc/mtab, while
with fuseiso it is type "fuse.fuseiso"
- in the Wine file browser the regularly mounted image as type "CDFS", while
the fuseiso mount as type "NTFS"
- The Rosetta Stone language software is happy with images mounted either way.
It seems that (1) Starcraft does something (perhaps simply a sanity/security
check) with the disk beyond simply accessing the files, and (2) Wine does not
recognize fuseiso mounts as being CDs. Whether this because fuseiso doesn't
provide some feature/aspect of the iso9660 mount, or just because Wine is
checking for the iso9660 fs type, I don't know.

Summary: Dungeon Keeper 2 refuses to launch without using the CD
autorun
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.0
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: Rincebrain(a)gmail.com
Attempting to run Dungeon Keeper 2 without entering via the CD's autorun.exe
results in no output and the program ending without any visible action (no
DirectX window, etc).
Has never worked, as far as I can see.
Attached are the WINEDEBUG="+all" results for running without the autorun (+all
with the autorun results in a 36MB log, which I don't think anyone wants to
sift through, but I'll upload it on request).

Summary: winhelp: When loading some files get error message, and
fixmes when navigating file
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.0
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: trivial
Priority: P2
Component: programs
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: markk(a)clara.co.uk
Some help files cause Wine winhelp to print an error message when loading the
file, and (possibly many) fixme messages when navigating to different pages in
the file.
To demonstrate, download chess.hlp from
http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=14571
On loading chess.hlp, Wine reports
err:winhelp:HLPFILE_DoReadHlpFile buf[0x14] = 0
If you then click "GNU Chess sample match with MACH", Wine reports
fixme:winhelp:HLPFILE_BrowseParagraph Unsupported bits 4200, potential
trouble ahead
(repeated many times)
On loading another file, emle.hlp, Wine reports the same err message, and
reports
fixme:winhelp:HLPFILE_BrowseParagraph Unsupported bits 2204, potential
trouble ahead
(fixme message prints again whenever you click a link)
emle.hlp is in winehelp_bugs.tar.bz2 at

Summary: Alawar games (magicball, neoball, etc.)
Product: Wine

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: wine(a)deimos.ca
Ok, instead of filing an APPDB entry for each of these, i must first mention -
ALL GAMES by "alawar" work perfectly in windows "xp" but none of them even run
playable in wine. All of them install correctly (or so says the instlall
program) but they are UNUSABLE - a few of them barely work but with graphic
artifacts (sprites missing, white or black squares instead of sprites, .....)
so, on APPDB, my rating would be bronze or garbage for each of those.

Summary: No Mixers with X-Fi Linux Drivers
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: directx-dsound
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: jbdubbs(a)gmail.com
It's a bit of an odd one, but here we go:
No mixers are available when using Wine on Gentoo Linux with Wine 1.0 and
previous, but only while using Creative X-Fi drivers version 1.18. Everything
else on the system works fine, but Wine doesn't like these drivers
Wine also works when I compile a different driver for use, such as emu10k1,
intelhd, or whatever.
Tell me what I need to do and I'll come up with the data so we can figure out
if the driver or Wine is missing something to detect these mixers.
System:
Kernel 2.6.24
Gentoo Linux 2008.0 Beta 2
Alsa built from modules in kernel
X-Fi drivers from http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_Creative_Labs_X-Fi
X-Fi Drivers piggyback on snd_usb drivers to input/output sound, so both must
be used to function.
Thanks!
The only terminal output:
jbdubbs@jbdubbspc ~ $ winecfg
ALSA lib seq_hw.c:457:(snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq failed: No such file
or directory
ALSA lib seq_hw.c:457:(snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq failed: No such file
