--- Comment #4 from Vesa Halttunen <vesuri(a)jormas.com> 2008-08-14 15:10:14 ---
The workaround provided in #1 does not work with Wine 1.0 and Lightroom 2.0.
Lightroom says "Lightroom cannot open the catalog named "blah" located on
volume "My Computer" because Lightroom cannot save changes to this location.
Lightroom Catalogs can not be opened on network volumes, removable storage, or
read only volumes." If the user tries to create a new catalog the error is
similar, with the words "open the" replaced with "create a".

The problem is still present in Wine 1.0 when running Lightroom 2.0.

Is Aliens versus Predator 2 still affected to this bug? As far as I tested, it
was fixed for this game some versions ago. There is another Bug #12272 instead.

With current git, regedit imported just fine, but only exports to the v4
format.

I think this might be fixed, may be the patch author can verify this so we can
close this issue

"Not many apps depend directly on this behavior"
I suspect that there are a lot of apps that do depend on this behavior, it's
just that they have not been documented as such. When I was doing research to
figure out why medisoft would not run I found a lot of entries in your app
database that said words to the effect that program runs but networking does
not function.
I admit to being biased in wanting to see this fixed (bug #14501). But I also
believe that the impact of it has been underestimated.

The console output after executing ICQ6
When trying to run ICQ 6 (www.icq.com), after importing some native DLLs, i am
stuck with a semi-stub in the function RtlInitializeCriticalSectionEx() in
ntdll.
I would like this function to get implented so people can use this app (ICQ6).
I know there are alternatives like pidgin or kopete but first Wine is supposed
to run win32 apps and ntdll is a critical component, second there are some
problems with libpurple and the new OSCAR-Protocol, which ICQ6 uses.
