Summary: Source Insight does not refresh the screen
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.58.
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
Keywords: download, regression
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: winex11.drv
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: scott(a)open-vote.org
>From Launchpad: https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wine/+bug/208853
I have installed Source Insight, v3.50.0058 (http://www.sourceinsight.com),
under Wine (0.9.58-0ubuntu2) under Hardy Beta.
Source Insight is a code editor and browser. You can install a time-limited
copy if you want.
Anyway, having used this under Wine under Ubuntu for 18 months, with only a
couple of niggly problems, I decided to upgrade (by doing a wipe + fresh
install) to Hardy Beta. Since then, Source Insight has exhibited major
problems.
These all centre around NOT refreshing the screen after things happen:
(1) Opening a new source-file window and moving it. Also resizing an existing
window.
(2) Minimising and then maximising the Source Insight window itself.
In both cases, the screen inside the Source Insight window does not refresh.
Moving the window around the screen does nothing (except get a nice swirly
pattern of a repeating window title-bar inside the window itself.
The only way I have found to cure the problem and make the window refresh
itself is to switch to the second workspace, wait a few seconds (until the
window with the "Go to left workspace ..." pops up) and then switch back. THEN
the window refreshes. Sometimes. If it does not, switch to the other workspace
again and wait longer before switching back.
This is on a Dell D620 with an nVidia "G72M [Quadro NVS 110M/GeForce Go 7300]"
and a second Dell 2007FP display attached. I'm running the graphics in TwinView
mode (which means a manually configured xorg.conf, attached [see launchpad]).
Going to System -> Preferences -> Appearance -> Visual Effects shows that
"None" is currently active.
---
The problem seems a LOT worse when running with the two displays and with the
Source Insight window on the second (non-laptop) display.
When running in single-display mode (i.e. at home instead of work), the "new
source file window" problem does not seem to occur so much. The
"minimising/maximising" problem occurs all the time, whatever the display being
used.
---
I believe the last version this worked with for this user was 0.9.46 (the one
that came with Ubuntu Gutsy).

Summary: Steam hangs in SteamStartup() attempting to connect to

Product: Wine
Version: 1.0-rc4
Platform: All
OS/Version: Solaris

Gzipped output of WINEDEBUG=trace+relay wine Steam.exe
Running Steam results in strange behaviour on Solaris and OpenSolaris.
When Steam is first installed (using either the current MSI installer or an
older standalone installer), it successfully updates itself and automatically
restarts.
,
On restart, it spews extensive messages to the console about connection
attempts to all 100+ CSDS servers with latency.
For example, the last couple of lines are:
CellID: Connecting to 87.248.209.212:27031. . .
CellID: Connect to 87.248.209.212:27031 took 110 MS
CellID: !! Got Cell ID 2 from server 69.28.153.90:27031
It then makes no further progress and appears to hang. If interrupted with
Ctrl-C, it displays a "SteamStartup() failed" messagebox before exiting.
When started again, Steam.exe prints set of "CellID:" messages showing that is
is connecting to a particular server, then blocks for at least a minute, then
connects to a different server. This goes on indefinitely.
I'm attaching a WINEDEBUG=trace+relay log (to reduce log size, this Steam
instance was interrupted after about 30 seconds). I can't do
WINEDEBUG=trace+all because it results in an error message from Steam about
being unable to load SteamUI.dll.
This seems to be a network related issue, but I'm not entirely certain.

I have several Xservers with different geometry:
:0 - real Xorg server - 1280x1024
:1 - vnc server (or Xnest) - 1024x768
If I run any wine app first time in smaller X (:1) and then on bigger X (:0),
it gets corrupted outside 1024x768 region - exactly the size of smaller X.
If I use wine virtual desktop feature (X server does not matter), this bug
does not appear.

Summary: foobar2000 0.9.4.4 - window close lag
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.57.
Platform: PC
URL: http://www.foobar2000.org/
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: liquid.acid(a)gmx.net
I have some mysterious lag when working with foobar2000 version 0.9.4.4
When having windows (opened by foobar2k itself) open, like the file property
dialogue, or a file scan result window and I close this particular window
SOMETIMES (not always) I have some serious lag. Which means I click the
X-button, and at first nothing happens.
Now I can do different things:
1) Sometimes moving the mouse around triggers window closing
2) Sometimes dragging the still open window around triggers closing
3) Pushing the X a second time sometimes does the trick
I didn't notice this with wine-0.9.56, so it seems to be a regression. I'm
still trying to figure out some actions to always reproduce the problem, but
currently I'm not successful.
This problem is not bound to CPU usage. It also appears when the CPU is idling
at 99%.
Gonna try a bisect, but as I know no way to accurately reproduce it...
Someone with similar problems? Maybe not only fb2k?
Thanks,
Tobias

Running w3l.exe produces a "Memory protection" error. The line of code which
fails has a call to VirtualProtectEx. A copy of the loader can be found at
http://war3.co.za/downloads/patches/w3l-1.22.rar. My Linux distribution is
Gentoo. I have this bug on all versions of Wine. I have tried updating to 1.1.2
off the wine-9999 ebuild for git - and it worked. But, as soon as I reset the
machine, the problem returned. Uninstalling and reinstalling 1.1.2 did not
(even temporarily) fix the problem.

Hi.
If a Windows program has a menu as the following:
-_File - -_Search- -_?-
_Quit _About
where '_Search' is used to call a dialog window, and if the user press ALT + S
keys, then Windows (since version 3.1 I think) opens directly the related
dialog, instead using WINE you have to press Return to call the function
because ALT + S select only the menu.
Thanks.

This is the brief error I get when I try to run the program
I've succesfully installed Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 with help from
winetricks.
I installed corefonts, gecko, msxml3, vcrun2005 and tahoma, and it installs
correctly with winxp wine version.
When I try to run it, it sends a window with the infamous "Runtime Error!
Program C:\P... - R6034: An application has made an attempt to load the C
runtime library incorrectly", and it drops an error about :actctx: and
MSVCR80.dll on the console.
I seem to have the correct manifest files on the winsxs directory, and I think
all the needed dll's are in place.
I do NOT have a manifest for a ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Microsoft Office
Communicator/Uccp.dll file that I got over there.
What are the manifest files anyway? Is there a way to create these files out of
a dll file?
I've also tried to register the dll using regsrv32 Uccp.dll, but the result is
the same.
I can provide the Office Communicator 2007 installer if it helps.
Thanks

We are using an administration program on windows written in c# (.net), and
with wine it will not connect to the ms sql server. With mono it goes further,
but it fails due an unimplemented .net function. With microsoft's dotnet 2.0 it
hangs on connection, and repeadly prints this message:
fixme:winsock:WSAIoctl unsupported WS_IOCTL cmd (98000004)
I'm attaching +winsock log, which shows, after this fixme it drops connection,
and tries again. Lastly it displays connection error message.
