--- Comment #48 from Sven Stähs <sven.staehs(a)stud.fh-muenchen.de> 2009-04-19 04:43:03 ---
Hi,
tried that:
extracted sclientinfo.xml to ERo folder (dind't find any ball1.swf)
copied npkdecrypt.sys and renamed to ero.exe
started: wine ero.exe -1asx1 /account:ball1.rsw
error message still remains, reporting failed attempt to connect to server.
tried the same after renaming sclientinfo.xml toball1.swf, still the same...
Added winsocks trace to attachments...
btw, this is all the content of sclientinfo.xml:
"
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="euc-kr" ?>
<no_free_server></no_free_server>
"
shouldn't there be some IP information or something? The game worked on vista
(with exactly these files), so these infos must be somewhere...
cya,
Sven

winsocks trace after applying comment #44
After extracting sclientinfo.xml from sdata.grf, renaming it to ball1.swf and
starting EternityRO via wine ero.exe -1asx1 /account:ball1.swf, this is the
winsocks trace. After sending Login information, there is still a error message

Adobe Illustrator 10 installs properly and more or less works, but if you
create a new document, then try to drag the white 'color' box around wine the
application totally crashes.
Backtrace doesn't give any useful info.
In adobe illustrator you can drop a color on a gradient for example.

i couldn't find one for linux... so i just used one for windows....
http://openkore.sourceforge.net/grftool/
even tho it is CALLED a dll its not and DO NOT RENAME IT... you don't want to
change that files name nor npkdecrypt.sys (make a copy of it and rename that to
ero.exe)
just extract out said file and put it in the same directory as all the other
EternityRO stuff.

wine-1.1.19
I too have been working all morning on the same issue actually on the server
mentioned in comment 42 EternityRo.... it still is NOT working FOR ME however
the reported resolution is this: The sclientinfo.xml does not exist it has to
be extracted out of the pseudo dll file ws_sock.dll and is called ball1.rsw.
you then rename the npkdecrypt.sys to an exe file (i did ero.exe) then execute
via command wine ero.exe -1asx1 /account:ball1.rsw . this opens the client
and reported by other users will connect (thanks to people in the irc channel
for helping me with this, and they said it was successful).
however in my instance:
apparently instead of a "wrong" ip or the local host mine is transfering to
0.0.0.0. i did capture packets on lo going to and from 127.0.0.1 to 127.0.0.1
with the ip of 0.0.0.0 as destination and source embeded in it...
copy of command WINEDEBUG=+winsock wine ero.exe -1asx1 /account:ball1.rsw >
winsock_trc.txt 2>&1
is found here
http://pastebin.com/f317b4584
kinda thinking comment 39 might be right in that its not a problem with
winsocks however pulling the ip out of some sort of wierd place... however not
sure.
any help would be much obliged. Really would like to play on this server.

Looks like that to properly fix this we have to do:
1) Figure out which shader versions are affected by the issue
2) For these shader versions clamp the results when something is written to a
texcoord register

The cause of "exiting silently" has never been made clear, there are at least
three separate causes.
> All other issues *after* app startup should be filed separately.
As above, there is more than one cause for the failure in the first place,
which is why I asked, "Should separate bugs be opened for each exception (as
they are in different modules)?" but didn't receive an answer.
I will assume that this bug is dealing with the MSI errors then, given the
above, and open new bugs for each problem when I get around to it, as nobody
else will bother to.

Output trying to register the program
When running 3DS Max 7, you will get a Window that loads up asking if you want
to run the program or activate it. If you choose the option to activate it, a
pop-up will display which is supposed to show all the options for activating
your copy of the program. Unfortunately, when it loads up all that is inside of
it is a blank screen with two bullets on the top and a line under it.
The console spit out a few fixmes related to shdocvw and mshtml mainly (which I
will attach as well as a screenshot). I tried using dll overrides for shdocvw,
shwapi and mshtml but all it did was silence the errors and keep the
registration window from even popping up...
I'm not sure the URL is even good to download 3DS Max 7 at anymore, so I'll
keep looking if I have to.
Also, 3DS Max 7 will give you a 30 day grace period before they require you to
register it.

If this is the default configuration for packaged versions of Wine & new/fresh
installations (including compiled from source), then this bug may no longer be
valid. Could someone confirm these cases?
I'm aware of the other bugs
"fixme:int:DOSVM_Int10Handler Get Font Information - Not Supported" and
"fixme:int:DOSVM_Int10Handler Select Active Display Page (0) - Not Supported"
but they belong in their own bug reports. I doubt this will be fixed any time
soon due to the nature of the latter bug.

First bug from comment #6 was fixed recently, with current git it works well.
Second bug from that comment, however, is still present.

If you're running into this bug with a packaged version of wine,
it probably means whoever packaged wine forgot to include
/etc/sysctl.d/wine.conf

I just wanted to add a link to this associated bug
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12516 - [Bug 12516]
err:dosmem:setup_dos_mem error report on every run of Wine.
The bug referenced no longer occurs on every run of Wine, but still occurs when
calling 16 bit dlls or apps. This bug is, in a way, a subset of bug 12516. This
one still exists (please don't close it). I'm just trying to tie together
related information.

> The up/down arrows problem only applies to cspy 1.0, it works in cspy 2.0.
> What's interesting is the screenshot of cspy 1.0 in comment 3 has two up/down
> controls. The one in the control box is broken but the one just above "return
> value" works fine.
Here is the problem: the only difference in these two controls is in one style:
UDS_AUTOBUDDY. If it is not set, wine won't display the arrows, while native
version would. Try setting this style and you'll see that arrows will appear.
I am not into UpDown control code, maybe somebody familiar with it would fix
this.

No, and I don't believe there was ever a bug here in the first place. This only
happens when using a no-cd patch, and I can replicate the same behavior when I
patch my own exe. When I run using the CD, it works perfectly fine.

I have installed Patrician 2 from Ascaron succesfully. It runs fine under wine,
but if I start playing it, it takes about 5 till 10 minutes for the screen to
get graphical distortions.
When I start it looks like:
(screenshot top)
http://www.ics.mq.edu.au/~szwarts/Gallery/Wine_Patrician2_Good.png
Which looks all fine to me, but after a while the screen starts to look like
this:
(screenshot bottom)
http://www.ics.mq.edu.au/~szwarts/Gallery/Wine_Patrician2_Error.png
Don't know if it is related, but when starting the game starts wine displays:
fixme:d3d_surface:IWineD3DBaseSurfaceImpl_Blt Can't handle WINEDDBLT_ASYNC flag
right now.
But the game still runs fine after that for the first 5, 10 minutes.

I am running Dynacadd 98 2D, a CAD program on Ubunto Hardy Heron. Dynacadd
loads OK and operates with these pecularities:
1.On some occasions Dynacadd opens and leaves "shadows" where task windows were
displayed. Closing and restarting Dynacadd will often resolve the problem.
2. On some occasions the cursor fails to display a selection window that would
normally show the CAD operator which area or entities of a drawing he had
selected. The program though appears to know what was selected.
3. After Dynacadd has been opened and closed several (say ten or 20,) times
attempting to open the transformation menu causes Dynacadd to crash.
Reinstalling Dynacadd from the CD resolves this problem.

winebrowser doesn't work with browsers/commands that
are more than one word. For example, the command to run konqueror
with the webbrowsing profile on kubuntu is:
kfmclient openProfile webbrowsing [url]
Setting that to be the first attempted webbrowser in the registry:
[HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-4\Software\Wine\WineBrowser]
"Browsers"="kfmclient openProfile webbrowsing,firefox,mozilla,opera,dillo"
and running:
winebrowser http://www.winehq.org
yields this:
Considering: kfmclient openProfile webbrowsing
argv[1]: http://www.winehq.org
Considering: firefox
argv[1]: http://www.winehq.org
I sent in a patch for this a while ago, this is the latest revision:
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-patches/2007-January/034937.html
The patch had some problems and I haven't gotten back to working on it. Now it
probably needs to be updated for the latest changes to winebrowser.
As part of the solution, the patch changes the registry key that stores the
browsers to try to a REG_MULTI_SZ value. Since this changes the wineprefix,
this should be fixed before 1.0.
