Well I emailed eBay TL Support for a bit of a clue, but the best they could
suggest was contacting "some tech savvy guy having a good knowledge about
Linux".
I'm guessing they have no idea what Wine is, then.
----------------------------------
Hello Ken,
Thank you for your email. I'm sorry to hear that you are facing problems
whilst testing eBay Turbo Lister with wine under Linux. I understand the
frustration this issue would have caused to you.
Please understand that as Turbo Lister is designed to run on Windows
platform, I'm sorry to inform you that we won't be able to provide you
any support in this relation. I would therefore request you to get in
touch with some tech savvy guy having good knowledge about Linux. I
apologise for the inconvenience this might cause to you.
I know this may not have been the answer you were hoping for, but I hope
I've at least been able to explain things clearly.
Kind regards,
Michael Johnns

When importing some mp3s into Live, short glitches appear in the right channel.
I think these are introduced in the import stage because they appear in the
waveform view, zooming in shows that these are a high frequency square wave.
This seems to happen mostly on mp3s from beatport.com, I have tried loading the
files into live running on windows xp and they are fine.
I'm running Wine 1.1.3 on gentoo amd64.
Which debug logs would be useful?

Martin, you do not need use winegcc. Just write a test in the
dsound/test/ds3d.c file, and then you compile wine with make crosstest (be sure
that you mingw installed :D ). Then, Wine will give you an .exe that you can
test in your Windows box.

I would like to run the scripts locally in order to check the consistency of

don't have mails from 2000 any more.
Can someone who still has these mails post the content on the wiki page and the

In CS:S
None of the posted "fixes" fix this for me. I find that if I play on a GG
server with a quick map change time I can play for hours, with occasional
lockups for ~2 seconds.
If I play on de_dust2 the game will crash within 1-5 minutes, regardless of
what I am doing or what is going on in the game, Ive had it crash in a big fire
fight but also during buy mode at the start with 0 shooting etc.
System:
Gentoo x86_64
Intel E2200
2g ram
Nvidia 9800gt, tested drivers 177.82 through 180.37 to no effect.
Alsa, no configuration options help, including turning sound off.
Kernel 2.6.29_rc8.
Wont paste a crash log as its identical to the others posted.

If the win98 mode for hl2.exe seems to fix it, and as I've noticed it uses the
older win9x fonts ingame, then might we just have to have the requisite fonts
that steam uses? Would installing mscorefonts on regular wine fix the problem?
If so, then it would seem we just need a few more free replacements. Correct me
if I'm wrong, but Tahoma Bold is used throughout steam, but the bold style
doesn't seem to be in the tahoma font provided by winehq. The only font I add
myself to my wineprefix is 'lucida console', for the hl2.exe console.
All in all, I would rather not have to install mscorefonts, so should we be
having a discussion focused more on which fonts are suspect?

Hello,
--- quote ---
Thanks, Anastasius. My first question is: are these dlls the same by their
exports?
--- quote ---
At the time of Win95 the Operating System one and Office9x shipped one were
probably similar in exports/functionality.
Nowadays oleaut32 versions are much more evolved than Office9x shipped one
which dates back to 1996.
--- quote ---
Then Wine could just simply fake one dll with another.
--- quote ---
As long as Office 97 components don't depend on internal
features/quirks/behaviour of that old oleaut32.dll, yes.
For tests just symlink oleaut32.dll.so to 32autole.dll.so and change the load
order to builtin-then-native. A placeholder in system32 is not needed.
--- quote ---
The second is: couldn't that be some other bug in Wine which prevents
32autole.dll from registering "stdole32.tlb" in v2 format correctly? Of
course, I could take the TLB from Wine tree and investigate this on real
Windows myself.
--- quote ---
If you question my analysis you are free to investigate.
--- quote ---
The third question (not so personal) would be:
Couldn't ITypeLib2_Constructor_SLTG() be used (from dlls/oleaut32/typelib.c) to
generate v1 format in Wine?
--- quote ---
You refer to the typelib loading part.
What you need is v1 typelib writer code like Wine's IDL compiler does for v2
typelibs (write_msft.c).
Regards

Summary: Cursor incorectly drawn in Dungeon Siege

Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: roderick.greening(a)gmail.com
While not critical, it is quite annoying. The cursor is drawn without
transparency (appears black). Then, while moving the cursor, it inherits
artifacts from various parts of the screen. This gets in the way of the game,
as it is a "point-n-click" game and you need to be able to accurately click on
objects. I have died more than once due to this bug.
This happens with all 0.9.x releases up to 0.9.60 and including the most recent
git version.
I would like to assist in resolving, but I need some guidence as to how to
track down the issue. I assume the program is using a software cursor and the
code in DirectX8 related to that would be a good starting point.

In re: #33
|
| All typelib registration stuff goes through "32autole.dll" a.k.a.
OLEAUT32.DLL
| Wine's builtin one is not used at that time
...
| Basically it boils down to LoadTypeLib() and RegisterTypeLib() problems of
| "stdole32.tlb".
...
| It turned out that the shipped ole automation bootstrapper expects
| "stdole32.tlb" in v1 format (ICreateTypeLib/SGLT), not the v2 format wine
| currently provides (ICreateTypeLib2/MSFT).
| When manually generating a v1 typelib using ICreateTypeLib and embedding into
| PE it successfully loads and registers.
Thanks, Anastasius. My first question is: are these dlls the same by their

I recently ran into this problem as well. In the end it turned out to be due
to what comment #8 refers to already: if you mount the installation CDs/ISOs of
Diablo II with the 'unhide' option (as AcetoneISO does, for example), your
installation will be contain corrupted files. Installing Lord of Destruction
will fail when it tries to update one of those corrupted files.
So I think this is not a wine bug.

The original user reports: "I just installed Gravity 2.7 (build 2067)
and it seems to be running pretty well on Wine 1.1.18 with no
additional libraries or configuration."
Marking fixed. We should resurrect that appdb entry and mark it gold...

The appdb entry is hidden because it doesn't have any test results,
but in the description it says
"GUI works fine, but storing data in gravity's internal database doesn't work.
So at this time is unusable "
So if it can load data from a previous run without dcom98, I guess we should
mark this bug as fixed.

I can't reproduce it with this download, everything works fine here.

terminal output under wine 1.1.18
I tried Microplanets Gravity 2.7 and typical NNTP tasks worked fine under
wine1.1.18. I also did a compact database, no problem (it's a fresh database
anyway).
The post in the bug description doesn't specify the bug ("database problems")
and the appdb page it mentions http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iAppId=615
just returns an error, so I can't see exactly what was the bug to reproduce it.
See attachment of terminal output for a simple run of Gravity.
