Summary: Direct3D output is at half the frame rate of OpenGL
output in WinUAE
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.4
Platform: PC
URL: http://www.winuae.net/
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: directx-d3d
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: markk(a)clara.co.uk
WinUAE is an open source (GPL) emulator of Amiga computers, available from
http://www.winuae.net/.
The output of WinUAE can be rendered using DirectDraw (default), Direct3D or
OpenGL. When using OpenGL, the WinUAE output is "frame exact", i.e. the output
will be at 60Hz if that is the user-selected emulation frame rate. Setting the
refresh rate of your monitor to match the WinUAE output rate results in very
smooth animation.
However, when using Direct3D the output is not smooth. The Direct3D output
seems to be only updated every second frame (e.g. at 30Hz). (On Windows the
Direct3D output works correctly.)
To demonstrate:
- Install and run WinUAE 1.5.2.
- Select a disk image for drive DF0: in the Floppy drives page, e.g.
rsi1.adf.gz as downloaded from ftp://ftp.coresystems.de/pub/uae/rsi1.adf.gz
- Ideally, set the refresh rate of your computer's desktop to 50Hz. If that is
not possible, in the Display settings page change "FPS adj." to 60 (if your
desktop refresh rate is 60Hz).
- In the filter page, check the Enable box and select the OpenGL filter.
- Click Start to start the emulation. When animation/scrolling text appears
notice how it is mostly very smooth since the image is updated once per frame.
- Press Alt-F4 to quit WinUAE.
- Repeat the above process, except choosing Direct3D instead of OpenGL. Notice
how animation/scrolling appears jerky, as if the image is only being updated
every second frame.

Summary: Peggle Deluxe and Peggle Extreme: black screen with 3D
harware acceleration
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.3
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: piekarzarkadiusz(a)gmail.com
Peggle Deluxe and Peggle Extreme go to black screen and become unresponsive
when I enable 3D hardware acceleration in the options. It is responsible for
zooming in and out during the end of the level and for some flashy effects. The
music is still playing, though. But I can't close the game, launch a system
monitor or go to the second desktop. The only way is to log out with
Ctrl+Alt+Backspace.
Tested on Ubuntu 8.04.1 with Metacity window decorator. My video card is
Geforce 8800 GT 512 and I use Nvidia drivers in version 173.14.12.
A free demo of Peggle Deluxe can be downloaded from here -
http://steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=app&AppId=3482. In order to run it,
you will need to install Steam, which is also free.
Peggle Extreme is packaged with Orange Box, which costs 40$ -

Summary: Zak McKracken - Between Time and Space mp3 problem

If you use the manual given in
http://www.zak2.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=768 (second post contains an
english version) you have to delete the winemp3.acm.so. While this is truly a
bad solution and deactivating winemp3.acm using winecfg seems to be good
enough, you get several errors if you do not deactivate the wine builtin mp3:
fixme:wavemap:wodWrite Not all src buffer has been written, expect bogus sound

The effect is that for example the intro video has sound for less than 1s
(maybe 0.5s), before it is silent and the sound that you can here during that
period is stuttering. Using WINEDEBUG=+mp3 is not going to produce a different
output.
btw, there is no mp3 component in this bugzilla

+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #13429 +++
Printing resulted and still results in garbled printouts: approximately the
first half of the first page is like it should be, the rest (of the page, and
the whole of next pages) is garbled, words printedover eachother. I have to cut
and paste the contents into a word processor (like Open Office) to be able to
print an email.
This problem existed in Wine 0.8.x, 0.9.x and 1.0 RC1&2 versions.
Under Windows XP (SP1 and SP2) it was possible to click print an email message.
In Ubuntu (7.04, 7.10 and 8.04) under Wine (0.8.x, 0.9.x and 1.0 RC1/2)
printing is possible, but after the first half of the first page, so including
any following page, it looks like kerning, spacing, centering and use of fonts
get garbled: words can be recognized on the printout, lines are still lines,
but within a line, the text is unreadable, words are printed over eachother, on
the wrong place in a line, and probable words from a next line are printed over
previous lines too.

If I'm running, say, the wine test suite in the background,
Firefox 3 in wine slows to an unusable crawl,
whereas native Firefox 3 purrs along like a tiger still.
I guess that's the kind of thing a kernel module might
help with. Maybe I should try giving wineserver a
priority boost.

No visuals.
It's a regression since it used to work (though graphics were broken - only one
fourth of the screen was actually visible) in releases prior to 0.9.60 or
earlier. I haven't tested it recently - so no ideas what patches caused a
problem.
