Summary: Elder Scrolls: Oblivion slowdown and loss of
background music since introduction of mpg123
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.29
Platform: PC
URL: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=versi
on&iId=7506
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: msacm32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: vit.hrachovy(a)sandbox.cz
/*
>From application comments/ on behalf of JFM Rivera.
Also - missing winemp3.acm category for the bug, so assigning to msacm32.
*/
Up to wine 1.1.28 the game works normally, however, testing the newer two
versions (1.1.29 and 1.1.30) produces the following:
1. Incredible game slowdown (like a slideshow). The game slows down to the
point that it takes several attempts to register a key press.
2. Loss of background music (though ambient sounds come through) using ALSA
output (same as the issue noted on the post below)
Using OSS output I get no sound, but the game is at normal speed. Using OSS and
launching the game with "padsp wine" results in ambient sounds returning, but
the slowdown is back. No setting I've tried so far has resulted in restoring
the background music.
Under wine 1.1.28 sound works (ALSA) and the game runs at full speed.
Workaround:
Take winemp3.acm.so from /usr/lib/wine on a 1.1.28 install, and put it in
/usr/lib/wine on a 1.1.29 install.

crashes are unknown, but include crafting stations and the ykeshan bear mount.

This problem seams pressent in the 1.1.2* versions of Wine
1.1.18 is not a problem. Latest tested 1.1.27 where the crashes still remains.
In 1.1.18 and earlyer, pets wont move, doors dont show as open when you open
them. This for the first few minutes everytime I start the game.
In 1.1.18 and earlyer this just corrects itself afer a few minutes and after
that works fine for that session.
But in the later versions of wine when it used to correct itself the game
insted crashes with a errormessage from Wine saying it might be a bug in wine.
I hope this will give some hint to where the problem can be.

Summary: winedbg cannot find local symbols in EXE.
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.36

While trying to debug:
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21388 (test.exe - attachment #1).
,i found this bug in winedbg. winedump finds all of the symbols, but winedbg
cannot do the same.
so: "break __do_global_dtors" cannot find the symbol.
I tried to debug winedbg/dbghelp.dll a bit to find the problem and found some
hints (i am not sure if all of it is correct):
1) Module_get_container() does not return the correct module. It returns
"/lib/libc" as the container for "test.exe". This does not seem right.
If i hack myself around this i get to:
2) It would seem that winedbg/debughlp.dll only loads "export" symbols? As the
EXE has no exports then no symbols are found.... is this right? What about all
of the other symbols?
Furthermore, if i force the debugger to break at the correct place, the
debugger seems to show the wrong disassembly. Not sure if that is the same bug
or a different one.

When Wargames initially starts you are given the option of choosing from
"Software Rasterizer" or "DirectDraw HAL". Choosing the latter causes a crash
when you OK the dialog: "Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to
0x00000600 in 32-bit code (0x00000600)."
Choosing Software Rasterizer gets you further but that crashes later (see bug
20629)

doctor stands over you in an idle animation sequence with the background sound
still playing.

the log from wine without any special options
The game installs, updates, and when it starts it shows a window which displays
only garbage and a mouse cursor, then exits.
This version does not seem to include XTrap (yet?) which causes problems with
many other online games.
The docvw messages are from the launcher, not the game itself. They appear
before the game starts.

Control drwaing over each other in very simple dotnet application
I used "winetricks" to install dotnet to get this to work, I know it's not
supported, but I think it just exposes a very simple layout problem.
This is a free up present at:
http://www.screencast.com/tools.aspx
Download link was:
http://update.techsmith.com/updates/b8999331-3e10-4a75-9367-d547bc9d6032/Sc…
The application only has 2 things:
1. Log in screen.
2. Upload file screen.
Both parts have this problem where once control is drawing over the other which
do not happen in windows xp.

Settlers 3 causes a wine client error immediately when run. Tested with all
available versions (demo, original, mission pack, QOTA, also with the latest
patch).
$ wine s3demo.exe
wine client error:2d: partial write 64
The demo version causes the same error. The semi-official download locations
did not work for me anymore, but the installer seems to be uploaded here:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/nrunbh
(The installer may complain about disk space but works anyway.)
