Summary: Star Blaze: Error preventing start of game
Product: Wine
Version: 1.0-rc3
Platform: PC-x86-64
URL: http://www.astonshell.com/starblaze
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: mycroes(a)gmail.com
When starting the game (either through launcher or directly) it will show an
error message titled 'Internal Error' with the following content:
.\Common\shape81.cpp (324)
(!Shape_VB)
Shape VB Lost
There's just one fixme on the console (that's all the output):
fixme:mountmgr:harddisk_ioctl unsupported ioctl 4d004
Occasionally it shows the message and then dies on a page fault, causing the
message to dissapear directly. (I have no stability issues of any kind, for
instance GTA: Vice City runs fine.)
If more information is needed I hope someone can point me to some kind of
documentation or guide, because I can't seem to find any information but the
Bugs page on the wiki.

Application is Fugawi 4.5.
I had to override gdiplus.dll (-> native only), because of a lot of "Access
violation" windows. The application makes use of a lot of custom graphics, so I
think this one little override should be okay.
But I get an error window when importing maps (which is pretty essetial,
because Fugawi's main purpose it to display maps). Scanning for map files is
the last operation that works fine. A list of maps is shown. Then, in the next
operation, Fugawi tries to analyze/import the scanned map files. I think it
also wants to copy the files into another directory (yes, the current user is
able to write into that directory). Right after the very last map (no matter
which one), en error window says "OLE error 80004002". None of the maps have
been imported. Here's what wine tells me in the terminal:

WINEDEBUG=+msxml wine aom.exe
When I set msxml4 to builtin in winecfg and start up Age of Mythology for the
first time there is a warning before the main game menu which says:
Title: Error Creating Fonts
Message: XML Parsing error in Fonts2.xml. No fonts will be loaded.
And there are really no fonts in the game then.
If I change msxml4 in winecfg from builtin to native (the native dlls get
installed during the game installation) then the fonts are shown correctly
ingame. When I know change msxml4 in winecfg from native to builtin again the
fonts are still shown correctly. This is because a file fonts2.xmb gets created
when I was running Age of Mythology with native dlls and this file now does not
need to be regenerated.
So it is the creation of the fonts2.xmb file which seems to fail with builtin
msxml4.

First error log
In the appdb it actually mentions PSP7 needs a bit of hacking to get going with
custom DLL's, but that is now inaccurate, PSP7 installs and runs no problem
without custom DLL's, except for the following...
When you try to insert text, the insert text window comes up, and as soon as
you start typing, PSP 7 hangs.
I ran the program from the terminal and attached an error log that was dumped
on the screen.
I then killed PSP 7, it returned to the terminal and another error log was
dumped on the screen straight after, I added that as a second attachment.
I am running Wine 1.0 RC5 (1.0 RC4 option was not yet in bugzilla) on Ubuntu
Hardy 64 bit from the winehq repository.
I am filing this under msvcrt, since this line in the error log caught my eye:

The company behing 'The Bat!' -RITLabs SRL- is using this componets inside 'The
Bat!' since the v4.0.04.
My simple solutions was do override the 'thebat.exe' with a backup copy. Than
works like before. But in the past this message come again some time later
(weeks).

Summary: King's Bounty:Armored Princess crashes/hangs
frequently on loading screens
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.36
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: msvcrt
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: gyebro69(a)gmail.com
The game (KB:Armored Princess, Steam version, patched to 1.2) generally crashes
on loading screens (entering/finishing a battle, entering a castle etc.)
I think the bug is the same as in the prequel: King's Bounty: The Legend
(http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15817)
Installing the native version of msvcrt.dll apparently solved the problem (no
more crashes after several hours of gameplay).
There is a demo version of the game (467 MB):
http://www.bigdownload.com/games/kings-bounty-armored-princess/pc/kings-bou…
The game needs native d3dx9_36.dll to run (at least the steam version).
Wine-1.1.36 compiled from source
OS: Fedora 12 x86
AMD Athlon x2 64 4200+
3 GB Ram
Nvidia proprietary display driver 190.53

Oblivion has some rendering issues after applying the version two of the vertex
pipeline replacement patch.
The crosshair is garbled, the status/action bar is garbled and the menu is
broken. I don't know if they have the same source of the problem.
Tried with wine-1.1.7-106-g38815e1 + vertex pipeline replacement patch.

Summary: screen size is confused by program
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.29
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: cnbiz850(a)sohu.com
A program that is preferred to run with full screen. After I first installed
it, that is what it did -- popped up full screen (maximized) -- on the first
run. Then subsequently it did in the same way. However lately, I hit somehow
"normalize/maximize" (at the upper-right corner of the program window). Then
the window shrank to about a quarter of the screen, which is not necessarily a
wrong behavior. What is wrong is when I hit "normalize/maximize" again, which
is supposed to maximize the window, the window get enlarged by just a few
pixels instead. Hit "normalize/maximize" again shrinks the window by the same
few pixels, again then enlarged by the few pixels. It is stuck at that rough
size. I can't even drag the edge of the window to enlarge/shrink it further.
At next startup, it goes to the previous small size and can not really be
resized. The only way (seems to me) that can change it back to normal is by
going through "winecfg" unchecking "allow window manager to control it",
running it and bringing it to full size, then closing it down, bringing up
"winecfg" again and re-checking the "allow window manager to control it". The
next and subsequent runs it will go to full size -- until the
"normalize/maximize" is hit again.

Screenshot of game's/wine's error message
Strange error: despite off rating into appdb russian version not works (maybe
becouse NoCD, as localized version uses StarForce as protection), crashing with
mentioned exception when any sound enabled (if you disable sound into winecfg,
that start a game, disable sound into game, than reenable sound into winecfg
and restart a game - it will work, untill you'll to reenable sound into
config). With OSS it works, but no sound, anyway, probably some system problem.
Screenshot of error message attached. Later will be tracelog.
