I was just reading that other thread. It seems there might be two issues here,
already know, the crash on simulator selection and BGSoft dll, which reportedly
unused in this Studio version.
I could build from sources.

Yes, this is a known bug most likely and already fixed in git. Please attach a
crash log with debug symbols installed. Are you able to build from sources?

There you go. Also a lot of the buttons are missing in the top of the Studio's
main window. I see this is related to BCGCB632.dll from BCGSoft.com.
I already tried setting wine ver to XP and removing and re-installing Studio 4.

Ok, but 'ps -A | grep wine' is all you need.

If you mean msvcr90 don't try to locate is directly in system32, it should be
in SxS if properly installed.

I think we need these logs now. Attach a complete output without any debug
switches from start to crash.

Yes, I upgraded to 1.1.40. I had to reboot. It seems an old version of
wineserver was running in the background. I had trouble finding the process
number in top so I just rebooted.
Also the vcrun2008 seems to load now without complaint, although the mvrv90.dll
and some others are still missing from system32 folder.
Studio 4 now starts, but crashes immediately when I select the avr simulator as
the simulation device for a new project. I've done this three times.

Installing arial32 font family fixes the font metrics problem:
http://iweb.dl.sourceforge.net/project/corefonts/the%20fonts/final/arial32.…
Also moved all the fonts in the wine/fonts dir to wine/fonts/bak if that helps
Solved the problem with no issues, battle.net still has some rendering problems
but is usable and does not crash.

When opening Igor Engraver I have to set the desired synth port every time to
get any sound. I use Qsynth together with Igor Engraver and it seems that
Qsynth is given a new port number each time Igor Engraver is opened, so I have
to go to the Igor Engraver dialog "Synth settings" (Edit -> MIDI -> Synth
settings) and there click the button "Prefer synth for instrument" in order to
get the Qsynth sounding.
