Summary: Starcraft : select one overlord (and only it) makes the
game very slow.
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: wine(a)spontex.org
The "bug" is mouse won't move at the same speed when you have selected one
overlord, and only one overlord.
When you have anything else selected, game will have a "normal" speed.
Steps to reproduce :
1/ update your registries as described :
* Use the key "DirectDrawRenderer" and add that to your registry
* with the value "opengl"; you may also need to add the key
* "RenderTargetLockMode" with the value "readtex".
2/ Launch single game "play custom" and choose zerg for you.
3/ select overlord
4/ move mouse
If you do "F10" to make menu appear, the mouse will still be slow !
Workaround : remove "Direct3D" from registry (Local user\Software\Wine)

Civilization 4 Demo fails to start. While displaying the splash screen it
breaks and Wine displays a window informing about the problem.
The problem didn't occur in previous Wine versions. I've done a bisect and it
seems that the commit introducing the bug is 550a3bbf:

was trying out sourceformatX (shareware, see url) for some reason. With both
wine 1.1.33 and wine-1.1.34-194-g09db528 from git, the application shows the
main windows, the 'tips of the day' popup box, then wine segfaulted.
I had problem building 1.1.34, but presumably that's transient since
wine-1.1.34-194-g09db528 is newer than 1.1.34.

is cut off left and right.
2. Start the app, click on lower right button "Bedienungsanleitung".
Note that no text is bold on any of the pages. The entire first two
header lines, and the last line of the screen, should be bold.
Workaround for both problems: "winetricks corefonts"
This affects other text in the app, too.

I am not a Linux expert. I developped Software with Delphi 5 under Linux:
www.KLSoft.de --> Download
Here are some problems with all wine versions under Linux (Ubuntu / Suse):
1. Fonts:
"Times New Roman" is missing or too large (Scrollbars in exercise Windows)
"Symbol" Font is missing
2. Richtext
Richtext isn't shown properly (run one of my demos, use the Linux konsole, so
that getdir finds the path to the rtf-Documents):
Symbol characters are missing, in some cases scrolling a page or clicking on
the text changes the textlayout (chaotic letterorder), clicking on a picture or
formular crashes the emulator
(I use a richview component in Delphi 5 to show the richtext file)
3. richedit
In a richedit Component in Delphi 5 the property wordwrap= false isn't
supported, seltext/selattributes (in order to uses two fonts (Times New Roman
/Symbol) don't behave like under Windows:
"Sqrt"2 :Ö2 ("Sqrt" Ö in Symbol characterset)
4. Windows
The property "showmodal" which shows a Window in front of the screen and the
user must close the window before he can switch to another one doesn't work:
The Window is shown in front (Exercise window (Ãœbung 1)) but can be clicked in
the back by clicking on another Window (on the background) then it is very
difficult to close a hidden window.

when trying to run ventrilo in 1.0rc2 i either get the ability to hear people
or the ability to talk i am using oss for sound and it seems that when i went
to check the settings on the audio tab it told me something like that my system
didnot support alsa or something and then just deleted it from the list of
audio options and maybe you could use something like this script into your code
to get global hot keys working with the windows progams
here is a link to the script http://np1.pp.fi/ventriloctrl/

Summary: Elder Scrolls: Oblivion slowdown and loss of
background music since introduction of mpg123
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.29
Platform: PC
URL: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=versi
on&iId=7506
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED

/*
>From application comments/ on behalf of JFM Rivera.
Also - missing winemp3.acm category for the bug, so assigning to msacm32.
*/
Up to wine 1.1.28 the game works normally, however, testing the newer two
versions (1.1.29 and 1.1.30) produces the following:
1. Incredible game slowdown (like a slideshow). The game slows down to the
point that it takes several attempts to register a key press.
2. Loss of background music (though ambient sounds come through) using ALSA
output (same as the issue noted on the post below)
Using OSS output I get no sound, but the game is at normal speed. Using OSS and
launching the game with "padsp wine" results in ambient sounds returning, but
the slowdown is back. No setting I've tried so far has resulted in restoring
the background music.
Under wine 1.1.28 sound works (ALSA) and the game runs at full speed.
Workaround:
Take winemp3.acm.so from /usr/lib/wine on a 1.1.28 install, and put it in
/usr/lib/wine on a 1.1.29 install.

This problem seams pressent in the 1.1.2* versions of Wine
1.1.18 is not a problem. Latest tested 1.1.27 where the crashes still remains.
In 1.1.18 and earlyer, pets wont move, doors dont show as open when you open
them. This for the first few minutes everytime I start the game.
In 1.1.18 and earlyer this just corrects itself afer a few minutes and after
that works fine for that session.
But in the later versions of wine when it used to correct itself the game
insted crashes with a errormessage from Wine saying it might be a bug in wine.
I hope this will give some hint to where the problem can be.

In Goldwave 5.55, Gnome 2.28.1, and Wine 1.1.41, when clicking the Close Window
button the program locks up. Sometimes the program unfreezes after a few
minutes (but does not close). Closing the program with menu File->Exit works
normally. Winecfg has "Allow the window manager to ..." both "decorate" and
"control" checked.
