As of the May 6th 2010 commit applications that use usp10.dll should start rendering things with bidi ordering correct. This includes Internet Explorer 7 for example. I loaded wine 1.1.42 using synaptic and ran wine config. I tried to use the wine loader to load the M$ windows based program called Memory Map. This will not run unless a version of IE 4 (or higher) is installed. The installation failed with the error message "IE4 or higher is required" (can't remember the exact wording). That's why I have asked about LKM usefulness with regard to supporting copyprotection mechanisms. Readimg mentioned wiki page about GG is useless as it doesn't describe architectural it's aspects.
