This is a regression, Personal Chess Trainer demo version 3.02 (actual demo
version is called Chessimo v3.35 and needs .NET 3.5, so doesn't work), was
working fine on wine 1.1.39 , but fails on 1.1.40. When I move a piece, the
application shows a box with: Run-time error '13': Type mismatch
Doing a regression test shows:

I think we should create a bug for each failing "make" and adding them to
"depends on" list.
We should try to get wine working on Windows XP 32 bits first.
And please use the latest version of Cygwin (flex,bison,gcc4,make) and wine

Since Wine version 1.1.30, clicking the close button on the Portable
Thunderbird window once does not close the window. As of version 1.1.31,
clicking the button again immediately after the first click does close the
window.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Portable Thunderbird, and wait for it to finish loading any messages.
2. Click the window's close button (the X in the corner). The window does not
close.
3. Click the window's close button again. Now the window does close.
Another scenario possibly relevant to solving this bug:
1. Open Portable Thunderbird, and wait for it to finish loading any messages.
2. Click the window's close button (the X in the corner). The window does not
close.
3. Click the File menu. The File menu is highlighted, but does not drop down.
4. Click the File menu again. The File menu now drops down.

I determine this problem after a hard hunt.
This issue affects software from several sources, probably silently.
In Visual Basic 6 and VBScript, you have a function "TimeSerial" for convert
three integers (hour, minute and second) to a "date/time" format ("HH:MM:SS",
for example 03:45:12).
On Windows, you can use the arguments without ranges, for example 300 minutes
- "TimeSerial(0,300,0)" -, and it automatically converts and displays the
result correctly (in this case "05:00:00", 5 hours).
In Wine, if you pass the same previous example it returns "Error 5 - Invalid
procedure call or argument.". The function work if you pass for example minutes
in the 0-59 range. But the conversion functionality is missing (and give a
error).
I can't determine what DLL is used, but shure is shared with others Microsoft
Visual Studio tools.
The debug don't show any relevant information, because is not a Wine error
really (ony the answer is different).

diff against git that solved the problem
I think a null pointer dereference may occur when running winedump in spec
mode. I encountered a segmentation fault when invoking ./winedump spec -c
/tmp/poly/poly.dll -I /tmp/poly/. The reason seems to be line 1598 in
tools/winedump/pe.c where dll_current_symbol may be NULL. This affects version
1.1.26 as well as a fresh git checkout. The attached URL contains a quick hack
that worked for me but certainly requires review from somebody more familiar
with the code.

This is very useful when you have to revisit a value previously entered through
the GUI
Note that entering multistrings is not very useful editing through .reg files

Follow up to bug 14248. In native firefox (winetricks -q firefox3), Ctrl + T
will bring up a new tab, and Ctrl + tab will shift focus to the right, but Ctrl
+ shift + tab won't shift focus to the left. It is simply discarded (AFAICT).

When in the registry there is something else than known "native" and "builtin"
keywords entered in dll overrides, winecfg crashes on opening dll override tab.
Attached patch solves the problem.

After this commit A simple Delphi 1 program with a file open or save dialog no

Finally got through my 1609 page wikisurf, so now I've made Windows Firefox my
default browser. Disappointingly, CTRL + Tab brings up the bookmark toolbar
(same as CTRL + B). Interestingly, CTRL + Shift + Tab does nothing, instead of
bringing up the bookmark library. Either way, very annoying, especially for tab
whores such as myself.

File compressed using "compress.exe -r test.txt"
The MS-DOS "expand" utility accepts the /r option to automatically rename files
compressed using "compress" with the /r option. The version of "expand"
included in wine fails to accept the /r option.
Attached is an example file originally named "test.txt" and compressed using /r
into the file "test.tx_". Executing "expand.exe /r test.tx_" should
successfully expand the file into "test.txt".

When you try and run the Torque Game Builder application the entire screen goes
black. The mouse cursor however is still visible and does change if you move it
around the screen (based on the elements that I assume the mouse is hovering
over).
If you run the application in a virtual desktop the same thing happens. The
virtual desktop is visible for a few seconds before the entire screen goes
blank.
Restarting X is the only way I know to recover the system.
I am not sure but I think the IDE makes use of directX.

I've noticed this bug two years ago when I first tried Wine. I never reported
it. I always expected that it was something obvious that would get fixed soon,
and now here we are with version 0.9.47 and the bug still rampant. So it is
not something obvious.
In Windows I frequently used the comic book reader called CDisplay[1]. When I
moved on, I brought the software with me and tried it in Wine. In most cases
-- because many of my scanned comic books are old and black and white -- I was
unable to read the book. A weird graphical glitch, which would not output any
useful debug message, would prevent me from reading the book. I managed to
track, after some experimenting, that the problem was caused by most (but not
all) grayscale JPEG files. A RGB colored one would not suffer from this
problem.
I believe it may be a GDI+ glitch.
Since 2005 at least I've seen this problem, and it went on in every update of
Wine, clean install or not. Besides the rendering glitch, the program works
otherwise fine.
While the problem seemingly only affects CDisplay, it's possible that it may
affect some videogames, or even Photoshop itself, and as such it may be worth
checking it out.
Attached is an example file that triggers the problem. CDisplay is a freeware
application. The link for download is below.

Monopolie 0.9.7.exe, an open-source Monopoly game from sourceforge that is
written in Visual Basic, does not run. If I run the .exe from the command
line, it simply terminates without an error message. The source code is
included with the download, so if the error is somewhere in there, it ought to
be able to be located.

When I tried to run a Visual Basic 6.0 application that uses Crystal Reports
8.5 ActiveX control, multiple problems popped up. The end result was that
invoking a method turns into an error that the method requested for could not
be found.
The attached screenshots best describe the problem. First screenshot shows
oleviewer displaying information about the typelib for the mentioned ocx
control on Wine and on Windows. The dispatch interface "CrystalReportEvents" is
not shown as being derived from IDispatch. And the dual types "IRowCursor" and
"CrystalCtl" as shown simply as interfaces.
The second screenshot shows a simple test application on Wine and on Windows.
We can see that TypeInfo members returned by Wine differ at many places
compared to the TypeInfo returned by Windows. Of interest is the type kind for
descriptions #0 and #7. Also the no. of interfaces implemented by description
#8.
I have patches that fix these two problems. With the patches all TypeInfo
members appear similar to the Windows output (except lcid). I am posting the
patches on wine-patches list.
Patch 1: Type descriptions of type kind DISPATCH can actually inherit from one
interface instead of specifying methods and properties according to MSDN. The
SLTG parser does not seem to handle this. I added code to read information
about inherited interfaces in DISPATCH types when available.
Patch 2: The documentation says that dual interfaces which implement both
INTERFACE and DISPATCH have to be returned first as DISPATCH types and then
INTERFACE type will be returned when calls to GetRefTypeOfImplType and
GetRefTypeInfo are made with -1 index. Clients are supposed to check for DUAL
flag and read the second type info accordingly. However, in SLTG typelib above,
the two dual types have type kind INTERFACE set on them. We must be returning
DISPATCH type first and then later the INTERFACE. So, I added code to return a
DUAL interface as DISPATCH type first in the SLTG parser. This fixes other
problems such as removing the AUTOMATION flag in the returned description and
proper function count.
Patch 3: I removed a check for DISPATCHABLE flag when GetRefTypeOfImplType is
called with -1 index for the following reasons. DUAL which is already being
checked for implies DISPATCHABLE. The SLTG type library being dealt with has
dual types without this flag set. The flag is a computed one and not present in
the IDL.
Patch 4: Updated a comment about a newly seen value in SLTG typelib that was
thought of to be constant.
After the fixes, our test case using the above activex seems to run fine. I ran
the tests but they don't seem to contain any SLTG library parsing tests.

At first, I thought it may be disk protection, since I was trying to install
from an ISO of my original disk, but the original disk has the same problem. I
also ruled out a mounting problem, I've mounted with -o ro,unhide,uid=$UID.
The strange part is, the install will sometimes work. I haven't figured out
what makes it work/fail. It seems to work better if there's nothing else
running in the prefix. A `wineserver -k` right before running `wine
Installer.exe' also seems to help.
Additionally, sometimes wine can't even seem to find the exe (!):

I am trying to run an old Win95 / DirectX 5 Game on Ubuntu 9.04: Perry Rhodan,
Operation Eastside. The system is 32 bit and uses a Nvidia 7600 with Nvidia
Drivers Version 180. I tried the current Wine Version from Ubuntu (1.0.1 I
think) and the current Ubuntu Package from winehq (1.1.23). Both seem to have
the same Problem:
fixme:d3d:IWineD3DClipperImpl_SetClipList (0x14ac30,(nil),0),stub!
I think that this function is used to draw the Menu Items (labels and stuff) in
the Game. The result is that all Text is missing in the menus, and various
other areas are only partly there while the mouse hovers over them, you click
someplace special (edge of screen?) or by chance.
I have added a small log of the Game start into menu, and a screenshot.
Visual Effects have been disabled, I tried configuring the X-Server for 8 bit
and without font antialiasing, all without effect.
Is there anything else I can do, any more info I can Provide?

Certain combinations of symbols and backgrounds fail. It appears to happen to
the ones called "battlemap" in Fractal Mapper. It can be reproduced with the
free trial version (http://www.nbos.com/nox/index.php?action=1001&id=144) and
the instructions below assume the defaults in that installation. But the
problem is not limited to the trial version, it does also happen to the latest
8.10f version of Fractal Mapper.
1. Install Fractal Mapper according to my instructions in the AppDB
(http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=10813)
2. Start Fractal Mapper.
3. Select "Rectangle" in the "Standard tools" in the top left.
4. Select "Battlemap" as "Fill Style" in the top right. The default desert
fill is fine.
5. Draw a large rectangle on the map. It gets the desert fill.
6. Select the chessboard from the "Mapping Symbols" in the lower left.
7. Click-move-release a rectangle over the desert area.
The last step should show the chessboard, but it doesn't.
To illustrate that this has to do with the background, one can
8. Select the "Pointer" in the Standard tools".
9. Click in the large sandy rectangle. (But not where you put the chessboard
in it.)
10. Select "Solid Fill" in the "Fill Style".
11. Click "Apply"
The chessboard now appears.
To illustrate that this also depends on what kind of symbol is choosen, one can
instead
8. Select "Standard Fantasy Symbols" in the "Mapping Symbols" area.
9. Click on the sea monster.
10. Draw an area in the sandy rectangle.
The sea monster (desert monster?) DOES appear.

SWKOTOR configuration window
The problem is that Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic configurator fails to
detect any resolution in resolution drop down list. When I enable virtual
desktop in winecfg then configurator shows two resolutions (800x600 1024x768)
in drop down list. My maximum monitor resolution is 1280x800.
Virtual desktop:
a) off
-resolutions appear in drop down list
-i can start the game and get to the main menu
b) on
-resolutions doesn't appear in drop down list
-the game starts in 800x600 shows black screen then switches to 1280x800 shows
black screen (with probably size 800x600) on the left top edge of the screen
and in the background my desktop. I cannot reach to the main menu because the
screen is always black.
In terminal in both cases there are only these two lines:
fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x33f2d0,0x00000000), stub!

When patching World of Warcraft, the Blizzard Updater (at least the old one)
complains about Javascript being turned off, instead of showing the patch.html
file embedded in the patcher. See screenshot.
No interesting terminal output, however testing the patcher is a long process
so if a full debug log is needed, just say what to run.

Small error window during installation
I just can't install the game at all!
I wanted to know how far 1.1.20 is toward to make the game easily enjoyable and
it can't be installed. Why? Furthermore, the error window I get is empty.
I attach a screenshot.
The "STOP" little window appears a couple of times during installation, then
everything reaches the end and the install directory contains only two files:
DeIsL1.isu (uninstaller data file?) and Grim.EXE
So, the game is unusable.

Perhaps this simple scenario explains one or another hang in some application.
Please use my mci command shell at bug #20232, comment #10 to enter the
following commands:
open z:\...path\to\wine-src\dlls\shell32\searching.avi alias v
play v
Wine hangs.
Alternatively:
open z:\...path\to\wine-src\dlls\shell32\searching.avi alias v
play v wait
does not hang. Use
close v
Ctrl-D to exit the shell.
open z:\...path\to\wine-src\dlls\shell32\searching.avi alias v
window v show
play v
does not hang either.
Supposedly you can use any .avi file of your choice. If you prefer, you can
write a 20 liner C program to send the commands instead of using my shell.
Perhaps there's some race condition? The play command must open a window if
none is present (native does so). "play v wait" shows that Wine can do it too,
yet the "play v" without previously opened window hangs.
BTW, the window that Wine opens for the video is larger than the one native
opens. It looks like there's room reserved to the right for a scrollbar. This
could explain some layout discrepancies in some applications. But that's
another issue.

When starting Every Extend in Wine, three windows pop up (one after another),
giving the same MCI error, accompanied in the terminal by
"fixme:mci:MCI_LoadMciDriver Couldn't load driver for type L"MPEGVIDEO"."
errors. It also has a small "No Device" window that stays open the entire time

To get to this point, you will need to first install ie6 with winetricks to
work around bug 14343.
When Flux Family Secrets: The Rabbit Hole is started, the screen goes black and
only cursors are visible. The screen can be made visible again by running
"xgamma -gamma 1.0".
The game appears to work find once the gamma settings are restored.

If I run CohUpdater.exe with the -renderthread 1 flag to inform it of the
presence of a dual-core processor, the game appears to:
* Enter an endless loop (continually spamming SetLayeredWindowAttributes calls
to the terminal Wine was run from) rather than finishing loading, and
* Mess up at least part of the Wine registry while doing it (graphics settings
are lost after the game and Wine are killed, whereas they're properly saved
after a normal session.
CoH is optimized for dual-core processors; top confirms that it isn't detecting
the dual-core processor on its own under Wine.

The game speed is too fast for some elements. Scrolling for example is almost
impossible since it is so fast - going from one end of a map to the other in a
second. The animation speed of torches on the walls are also way too fast as
well as smoke animations.
This only happens with hardware acceleration on and therefore suggests this is
a problem related to d3d.

3d graphics in Chessmaster 11 - Grandmaster Edition are positioned so
incorrectly on the screen that they aren't displayed at all or pushed upper and
displayed partially if you are using the 3d desktop in ubuntu. The reason that
the graphics are displayed somehow when you are using 3d desktop is because the
backbuffer is smaller. I think the whole problem is in the
IWineD3DSwapChainImpl_Present function in swapchain.c file in wined3d. The
problem is that handling the pSourceRect and pDestRect parameters (which
control the copying parts from the backbuffer to the window) of the function is
not implemented yet (FIXME("Unhandled present options %p/%p\n", pSourceRect,
pDestRect);).

Hi there,
this bug should be sort of a "metabug" for fixing the locking behaviour of
volume and volumetexture objects in D3D (version 8 and 9 currently, because 7
and below doesn't have/support volumes).
I already wrote some patches and testcases to fix/illustrate the problem, but
they were rejected on wine-patches. The main problem that the problem should be
adressed much lower in wined3d.
I now post all my current patches here, so other people can take a look.
Some things what are currently not implemented:
(1) locking of volume/volumetex objects always succeeds althoug it shouldn't
- specifying to large lockboxes should fail for example
- some volumes are not lockable at all
(2) creating volumes/volumetextures always succeeds, usage and pool types are
not checked
Only a few things the patches should adress.
I intend on working on this, but I need a bit more input about why and where to
fix this exactly.

Attached is the log. This affects all versions best I can tell, NoCD and
official CD included. This version was patched to latest 1.1.3 and a NoCD exe
applied.
FYI: I followed instructions from the WineAppDB and dumped 3 discs properly
into one folder and execute, install was perfect. If it matters this is also
from the "Complete Collection". :)

Normal Output
Video, audio, and input are required for bsnes to function properly. It will
try to initialize these the first time you run it, but fails. It freezes, and
you're forced to quit. The only way to close it when that happens is to quit
X11 altogether. On the next startup, a message appears stating that all
drivers have been disabled, and can be manually set in configuration.
Selecting them in the GUI works fine, and they will work as long as you don't
quit the application. If you do quit and then restart, it will freeze again.
The problem is caused when either Direct3D, OpenGL, or DirectDraw is selected
while you quit the application. Restarting while GDI or Qt-Raster is selected
will not result in a freeze. Furthermore, video and audio playback are
extremely slow.

The midi tests now in git that will appear with wine-1.1.38 produce a strange
error on MacOS:
err:wave:AudioUnit_GetVolume
AudioUnitGetParameter return an error "\xff\xff\xd5\x8e"
Same error for SetVolume
a) Is dbg_fourcc() really the appropriate method for reporting error codes
there? It rather looks like a small negative number:
-10866 aka. kAudioUnitErr_InvalidScope
b) The same function succeeds when called from waveGetVolume in tests/wave.c on
a wave handle instead of a MIDI one.
Perhaps the MacOS MIDI SW-synth does not support volume settings after all?
Perhaps a more elaborate filter graph would be needed to support variable
volumes? One would then question whether MIDICAPS_VOLUME need be reported at
all in such a case and possibly drop support for Get/SetVolume in midi.c -- or
implement said filter graph.
This is just supposition. I'm not familiar with MacOS programming.

Starting a sector of AtcWindows with the option "Transparent Supplementary
Dialogs" checked, prints the following message on the console:
fixme:xrender:X11DRV_AlphaBlend not a dibsection
The transparent message box (for the communication) is not displayed (as is
should) thus leaving you with no initial calls and read backs from the
aircrafts (making controlling the aircrafts impossible).

Note: This is not a mere installer problem as described in other Acrobat/Adobe
related reports.
The installation of Adobe Acrobat Professional works completely fine until it
asks for the serial.
Also running Acrobat with the limited 30-days trial functionality just works
fine.
Although I have a valid serial number which is accepted on native Windows XP,
the check for activation simply fails stating that the activation serial number
is not valid.
A possibly related problem might be the inability to install updates. The
download of updates is correctly triggered, but the installation of the update
fails.

I have set up an installation of Final Fantasy 7 as per the appdb guidelines
(http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=183).
It requires installation of the TrueMotion2.0 codec.
I have installed the codec via an installer which can be found at
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/ace_mega_codecs_pack.htm (which seems to
crash sometimes - going to file a bug when I know more)
I'm pretty sure it's installed correctly.
Videos still do not play. I did ONCE hear sound but not since :(
After a short period of black for the intro video the 'New Game/Load' option
does appear so it's definitely a problem with the codec.
Installing it worked on Vista.

Mario Teaches Typing 2 crashes during execution due to some msvideo functions

The installer copies all files successfully. However, database initialization
fails at the end of the installation, spilling out lots of OLE errors.
The application does run, but reports a corrupted database and fails to operate
normally. (That's not surprising.)
The errors reported by the application are (surprisingly, this time) very
similar to thos that can occur on Windows and are mentioned in the FAQ here:

I tried to install native msado15.dll and oledb32.dll, but this didn't help at
all.

Trainz 2006 displays menu text fine with default settings now
(in fact, turning off xrender now makes the text go away?!).
My son tried it under both Wine-1.3.3 and Windows, and
the only problem he noticed so far is that when creating a new
layout, the track is drawn as dotted lines on Wine and as fully
detailed track on Windows.

When I run Phantasmagoria 1, it will crash right after calling int 31, ax=0001
which is a DPMI interrupt, free LDT descriptor. Which means that it crashes
somewhere around line 882 in file dlls/winedos/int31.c I then commented out
what's between the else { and }. The comment that is already there reads:
/* If a segment register contains the selector being freed, */
/* set it to zero. */
Which probably means that the game tries to use either the DS, ES, FS or GS
segment after it has freed the LDT descriptor. Is this function/interrupt
really supposed to fiddle with DS, ES, FS and GS? I can't see any mention of
that in the DPMI
specifications(http://www.delorie.com/djgpp/doc/dpmi/api/310001.html) and
apparently Windows handles it differently, since it won't crash when I comment
out the lines that reset these segments.

Hello,
in all PhotoImpact versions I've tested so far, trying to launch the color
balance dialog freezes the application so that one has to kill it. Triggered by
shortcut Ctrl+L as well as click on toolbar icon for the function, and menu
entry.
I've added the terminal output for PhotoImpact 5 (Ubuntu 9.10, Wine-1.3.4).

Hi,
the new email address requester is a pain to use because there's no cursor and,
unlike the tag input form, it won't receive the input I type to the keyboard.
So the user becomes desperate about how to be able to start the tests!
It's only after I click "start" (after the error requester) that the requester
shows a reaction to mouse clicks: although no cursor appears, I'm now able to
type in some text.
Actually, this behaviour is almost exeactly that of the tag input requester.
The only difference is that this one typically echoes what I type immediately
after starting Wine. Sometimes no input is accepted there either. Well, its
behaviour appears as broken as the other input requester, but in the past, this
was somehow less of an annoyance: sometimes it accepts input, sometimes not.
What is noteworthy is that the window titles do not show the blue colour
typical of activated windows. They stay grey instead. They stay grey even when
I move the requester to some other location.
Sometimes (with the tag input requester), it echoes my input even though the
title bar is grey.
A cursor appears in rare cases only.
Often enough, the requester appears with a blue color title bar, accept text
yet display no cursor.
A (mostly?) reproduceable way to activate the window and make the cursor appear
is to click "start" with an empty field. The error requester will appear with
the regular blue title bar. Afterwards, the input requester will appear in blue
as well, and a cursor appear after I click into the text entry form.
I'm almot always running winetest inside a virtual desktop. There's not a
single log printed to the terminal.
Actually I already know this behaviour from Ubuntu Linux, but somehow it's more
of a pain on MacOS. I just tested again in the unreleased Ubuntu Lucid: the tag
input form has a grey title bar, shows no cursor but accepts my input. That's
why I did not bother to report this bug in the past.

If you start The Sword verison 1.5.11 causes multiple EM_FINDWORDBREAK messages
because the selection text is encased in either <> or () symbols. This also
causes an empty popup box to appear.

As the title, really. Every time I click to do something using Fireworks, an
"Internal Error" popup appears. This can be clicked away, and I continue using
Fireworks, but on the next action, the "Internal Error" re-appears.

Screenshot of POD messages inder wine
Message Labs POD is a corporate Hosted IM application the only has a native
windows client. There is a java applet but it is lacking many features.
Installation and functionality of message labs POD works. when sending and
receiving messages using POD the messages are not receiving a carriage return
but instead are all mashed together on the same line.
I have attached a screenshot of the IM window when connected using wine and a
screenshot of the IM window when using the client natively.
Since this is a paid for service please contact me directly if you need access
to the EXE and if you need a login for the service.

It seems Wine does not correctly set the palette when opening its window in a
8bpp display. Every time its window is activated, it installs a completely
black palette.
To reproduce:
- In e.g. Ubuntu Intrepid, switch to a terminal with e.g. ctrl-alt-F3
- startx -- :1 -depth 8
should yield a working desktop. Otherwise your graphics card may not be able
to support the ancient 8bit modes. An on-board Intel i915 works.
Alternatively, logout of your gdm/kdm session if you fear being logged in
twice may harm your Gnome/KDE configuration, then start the X server.
- Use Ctrl-Alt-F3/F7/F8/F9 to switch consoles.
- Open a terminal window.
- glxgears works. Note the change of screen colors when changing focus from one
window to another -- people were used to that on X consoles 20 years ago.
- wine winecfg causes a completely black screen if set to desktop window mode.
- Use Alt-Tab to (blindly) switch to another window (e.g. the terminal): the
colors are restored, and the winecfg window inside the desktop window appears
normally (except for strange colours, as for all other windows except the
currently focused one). Click in the wine window and everything becomes black
again.
In full-screen mode, winecfg opens normally (colours of all other screen
contents change, which is "normal" with 8bpp with X).

Logfile using +seh
Microsofts Flight Simulator 95 often crashes when loading a flight and trying
to start it and segfaults. All builtin dlls, here's a normal log only with
+seh, because relay log is quite big.
It installed just fine, but when I click "Surprise Flight"(?) or "Quick
Flight", game crashes.

The values in the program
When the one record a new invoice the entered dates is not same those appear in
print preview. Please check the attached picture's date "Dátum" fileds. It is
different in print previes in the program but all the same in the print
preview.

I have a small request. Actually I must play in resolution 800x600 (windowed
mode - set in game) because if I set in game 1024x768 I can see only a title

The preview dialog for changing export values (compare Ulead SmartSaver, here
as a plugin; Ubuntu 9.10). Calling it triggers altert asking "Enter a number
between 0 and 255." 3x in a row, one got to click "OK" each time. And no
original/preview thumbnail of the image. Every modified value calls the same
alert again.

A small log of when the vSync option was enabled from within the simulator
Nolimits Coaster 1.71 has an option to enable vSync, however. This is ignored
within Wine and thus the frames end up faster than the monitor refresh rate.
This can be fixed from the nVidia settings panel by enabling: "Sync to vBlank",
but I don't feel like this is the correct solution to the problem (Cedega has
no such issues).
When the nVidia vBlank option is turned on the game will act correctly by
running at 60FPS, but the game stutters.
I've attached a part of the log file when the vSync option was enabled from
within the game.
There is a similar ticket open: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13085
but this bug happens both in fullscreen and windowed modes.

When in game and trying to scroll the map to right by moving the cursor to the
right side of the screen the cursor image will change between "pointer" and
"moving right" every other frame and will scroll at half speed.

Lines before segmentation fault

After spending a few hours logged into Atlantica, I lose the ability to
interact with the environment using my mouse. The problem is moderate at
first, and then becomes more and more severe, to the point where I have to
restart the program to resolve it.
Recently, new UI problems have appeared. Monster Invasion was this weekend,
and whenever I tried to start a fight, my screen would flicker black, and
require me to restart my computer by holding down the power button. This
problem has presented itself while trying to observe a PvP match, and join a
PvP match as well.
I also noticed a new problem where I lose all ability to interact with the
environment, I can't click, I can't type. Before, the click bug was only
related to my ability to select a monster I wished to attack while fighting.
Now it seems to have evolved into a new monster, where I can't do anything at
all but restart. On a side note, these problems seem to have emerged with the
most recent update to my computer's software from Apple. The monster click bug
has been present from the start, however.
I am using Wine.app, version 1.1.44. I am somewhat computer illiterate, so I
apologize if my bug reporting has not met the guidelines = /

Now in RC2 Nokia Ovi Suite installs successfully (though a little bit slowly)
but when the app is started, it stalls at start-up.
And "NokiaMServer.ex" eats up all the CPU time (Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 - 2 x 2

Delphi's date picker (TDateTimePicker) does not have day, month or year
selected when first tabbed into.
You need to press the right-arrow to select the day (or month, or year).
Confirmed with Delphi 2006, 2009, with and without windows themes enabled.
Might happen with no-Delphi apps as well, but unconfirmed.

When starting URU path of the shell. The application window dissapears. The
process keeps running as I can hear the sound and music still playing.
This bug only occurs when I select both options: let window manager decode the
window and let window manager control the window.
If I select one of both the game still runs fine. Only with both options
selected, the crash occurs.
This is tested on a clean wineprefix and the bug has occured at wineversion
1.1.36
Everything runs great on version 1.1.35

Indic languages are not displaying correctly in wine. I have tried Hindi and
Bengali, and for both:
- Vowel order is not correct. Some vowels -- e.g. equivalents of 'e' and 'i'
-- are typed after the consonant, but should be displayed before it. Instead
they are displayed after (these are all L to R)
- Combined consonant glyphs are not displayed.
I have the same problem in Wine's Notepad, and several other Windows programs
running under wine. I am using ttf fonts that work fine in linux outside wine,
and under windows. I've also tried both the default ubuntu keyboards and a
separate scim-based input method (avro), with the same results.
(Running Ubuntu 10.04; Same display problems with Notepad, the Word, eSword.
MS Word 2007 crashes when I try using either input method.)

I have two USB gamepads and I get the same error output from both. I am trying
to run PES 2010 with gamepad enabled. When I run the game with
WINEDEBUG=+joystick wine pes2010.exe
I get the following lines:

So, as I understand the gamepad is recognized but somehow an axis is preventing
me to use it. I tried to recalibrate the gamepad with jscal but to no avail. I
also tried adding a registry value to HKCU\Software\Wine\DirectInput but yet
again no improvement.
Any idea on how I can get this unknown axis to be recognized?

At the end of the GEDCOM import process (File - Append/Merge - select GEDCOM
file). File is imported successfully ("There were no warnings or errors
generated during import.")
Application then tries to create a backup file - on clicking ok the application
displays a dialog "A serious internal error has occurred. Please quit and then
restart Family Tree Maker."

Rainmeter's black background in a virtual window. The black border is also
evident on the desktop.
I have looked throughout the database to find one or two workable programs
similar to this bug. I will list them here within this bug report as no listed
bug specificly deals with Rainmeter's issue.
Rainmeter is a program which displays various GUI elements within Windows,
featuring system information neatly displayed in a varying array of skinned
elements, whether they be text, abstract graphic, anime, or otherwise.
The program installs itself with no issue. The skin loads given the nature and
workaround of bug 18142, a GDIPLUS-related issue in which Winetricks will
install.
The problem is presented upon actually having loaded a skin. The background
appears to be virtually black, and upon changing the program's transparency
from an option within Rainmeter, the black background also changes transparency
with the skin, allowing the wallpaper behind it to show through.
When initially clicking on the window, the black background goes transparent
for a half a second or so and then reprints the black background. Also, no
matter if you're using Compiz or Kwin under KDE 4.2.2, this is a problem
persisting in it's existance.
10091 is a similar bug to this, but this problem persists under Kwin as already
stated. Secondly, the bug also exists regardless whether or not Rainmeter is
loaded within a virtual window.

Polls a queried resource to get the query state or a query result. For more

Return Values
The return type identifies the query state (see Queries (Direct3D 9)). The
method returns S_OK if the query data is
available and S_FALSE if it is not. These are considered successful return
values. If the method fails when
D3DGETDATA_FLUSH is used, the return value can be D3DERR_DEVICELOST.
The test fails with :
query.c:224: Test failed: IDirect3DQuery9_GetData a 2nd time on a ended query
returned 00000001
which is a S_FALSE (1) which just means the data is not available... which
according to the MSDN site is an ok value to return... and is a success.
Also reading the MSDN the D3DGETDATA_FLUSH is supposed to flush the query so
the value its returning is ok...
So If I am understanding the above code the first one should return a S_OK
saying that it flushed the query code.... Then the second call should return a
S_FALSE because the query has nothing in it.....

behind these tests was that HL2 called GetData() more than once and this raised
GL errors - the query code now filters such calls out to prevent calling bad GL
calls. My guess is that its ok to modify the test to accept both results. Ie,

Console output when launchig ME Config Tool
Graphics driver used: ATI fglrx ver 10.10
Game installation works until final step of vcredist which crash, anyway the
game results installed.
Installed patch 1.02, done winetricks for vc2005sp1 redist: game's launch
returns to command prompt.
Launching game config tool: program launched successfully but it complains
about missing directx installation and the list of video and audio device is
empty.
Done winetricks for d3dx9 and then used ALL the d3dx9 in native mode: game's
launch simply returns to the command prompt.
Installed directx from Mass Effect DVD: as above and the config tool reports
missing directx.
Attached the console output when executing config tool and choose to check
video device which results empty.

Some times Ventrilo (after random time passed) starts having a long delay to
transmit & receive the voip stream. If you restart Ventrilo the problem gets
fixed for a while. I'm using Ventrilo without PushToTalk while playing warcraft
3: TFT but the same problem have occured to me even when I was not running
anything else.
Extra notes:
*I run the linux version of Ventrilo Server on my PC.
*The transmit & receive delay has an average Round Trip Time of 10 seconds when
it occurs.
I'm using Ubuntu 8.10

This program is the only one movie editor I found working kinda good on Linux
with Wine. But it has a few issues, the main toolbar looks weird, audio plugins
registry entries must be deleted from registry or the app desn't launch, and
the major issue is the preview function, which doesn't work at all. I can live
without audio plugins, but preview is necessary for normal work. Preview window
shows only solid color, sometimes it changes a bit when you move through the
clip on timeline, but it never shows the content of the clip. It's very
difficuilt to make movies without preview function, you can rely only on
screenshots from the preview. Screenshots saved to disk show what preview
should show - the really content of the clip with all used effects, transitions
etc.

Several times a second, a large rectangle (usually the same one depending

This happens on Braid Demo and Call of Duty 2, but not on Portal: First Slice

When playing a multiplayer game in Total Annihilation using native directplay
dlls, the program locks up at the end of a game.
This doesn't prevent the game being played, but it would be nice to fix.
Note that this is using the directplay dlls from microsoft, rather than those
that come with wine, following the instructions at
http://wiki.winehq.org/DirectPlayGames.
Bug http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4066 documents that wine does not
implement an appropriate directplay itself for Total Annihilation at this time.
Mostly I'm creating this new bug just to document it for now in the appdb for
total annihilation.
Note that this issue is touched on in the comments for bug
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11130 , but it is not the original bug
that that bug report refers to.

Hi,
(Using Ubuntu 8.04, GNOME desktop, Wine 1.0)
This is a question about virtual desktop mode.
When the virtual desktop window is minimised then restored, or brought to the
front after being covered by another window, Wine appears to tell the Windows
applications to refresh their windows. (At least, on my old slow system I
notice buttons etc. being redrawn - restoring the virtual desktop window is not
instantaneous.) Is that correct? Surely it would be better for compatibility
and speed if Wine caches the whole virtual desktop bitmap when the window is
not visible, so it can be instantly displayed when the virtual desktop window
is restored/revealed. Could some Windows programs assume that if they are the
only window on the desktop, that they don't need to refresh their window
imagery?

I have a joystick calibrated with the "polarity" of the axis switched (e.g. up
is down + down is up). To do this, in the js calibration utility jscal simply
put the position to the apparent "maximum" number when it asks for the minimum
and vice versa.
this setup works fine in linux games and e.g. "Joystick
Tester":http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/Joystick-Tester.shtml
(which is apparently not using dinput)
but in the game (Morrowind), the calibration is ignored. up should be down and
down should be up, but it is not (I guess it is looking at the numbers that I
get shown in "jscal")
If it can't be fixed, maybe a hack in the Joystick-Axes-Dinput-Registry key
could be made to allow mirroring of axes :/?

I get that message when I use a stock charting program that's implemented
as an ocx application. The message appears when I right-click on a chart
to call a popup menu.
I really can't use the program without that popup menu, so I'd be truly

I was trying to get splashid working with wine. Splashid installer
is available from:

The installation worked fine. I tried to import data from an
existing splashid instance. As the import was happening I
got this error:

Entire checkpoint install log file
Checkpoint VPN client does not successfully complete installation. I checked
out the install log, things seem to be going well until the installer attempts
to run 'fwkern.exe'. This results in errors like "Failed to INetCfg" and dumps.
I've attached the whole damn log which includes a few install attempts.

When in game, the chat keys must be pressed twice after the first use.
For example, I can press 'u' (global chat) once to bring up a text entry box to
say something in the global channel (correct operation). After that, I must
hit 'u' twice to bring up the text entry box. In-game console shows the error:
DInputDevice::syncKeyboardState - DIERR_INVALIDPARAM
Switching out of the game window and back will reset the condition - it works
for first use then must hit twice.

When working with PowerPoint 2007 on files which are stored on a USB stick, you
cannot cleanly unmount the USB stick after closing PowerPoint since it
complains about open file handles.
Workaround:
You have to kill the wineserver such that all file handles are closed.

Patch to send mouse button events to the X server
winex11.drv uses XWarpPointer to send mouse movements to the X server. Mouse
button events are not sent. If a pointing device device communicates directly
with a windows app running in wine, the user will be able to move the mouse
pointer, but button presses will only work on windows controlled by wine.
The attached patch adds calls to send mouse button events generated by a
windows application to the X server. The way this is done is similar to the way
it is done in the Synergy client - by using XTestFakeButtonEvent
(see http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/).
Requires libXtst.

4. Error "The wizard was interrupted before VMware Infrastructure Client 2.5

This is a bit of a major that I'm unsure whether is a bug with RTG Bills or
WINE... But, here's a workaround/fix for it below.
My local is New Zealand, my default language is LANG="en_NZ.UTF-8" with dates
expressed "days / months / years" (like most of the world).
Setting the dates in RTG Bills to my format results in any dates in the form
"days / months / years" that make sense expressed as "months / days / years"
being expressed as "months / days / years". For instance: 10th March 2009
(10/3/09) is expressed on bills as 3rd October 2009 (3/10/09)!!!
A workaround/fix seems to be to set the environment variable $LANG to
LANG="en_US.UTF-8" and then set the date format in RTG Bills to be expressed as
"days / months / years". RTG Bills provides a "test" facility to check that
date formats are sane for the system local settings, if this facility is used
it will report that the format is "insane" and change it back to the "months /
days / years" format. The answer is not to "test", but simply leave the format
"untested" as "days / months / years" and save the setting. RTG Bills then
seems to report dates correctly in its bills.
So, my command to execute RTG Bills is:
env WINEPREFIX="/home/myhome/.Rtgbills" LANG="en_US.UTF-8" wine
"C:\Program Files\Rtgbills\rtgbills.exe"

Part of the application plays embedded animations with a voice-over.
Under Windows XP, these play fine. Under Wine, an error message is shown
stating: "Could not create or use window."

My lspci output
On all games that use GLSL shaders I get a extremely low performance when
loading new data unto the screen.
For example in Everquest 2 with GLSL shaders enabled the initial loading of
elements get slowed to almost a standstill when "Adding Character to Game
World" but when it finally starts displaying my character and the world in it's
background there is no corruption nor any real lag until something new comes
into view. (Me turning around, someone else running infront of me, etc.)
This is the output from a normal WINEDEBUG output in EQ2:

That keeps repeating but not spamming my console completely, at least not
quickly.

This could just be a driver issue, I'm not completely certain, I use the latest
packages for Kubuntu 10.4.

Hi,
on my Mac, LANG=C or LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8 wine winecfg has no effect at all, unlike
a Linux machine. winecfg's texts are always displayed in German.
locale -a lists a lot of locales. "LANG=C ls -l" reacts instantly.
OTOH, going to the Mac system preferences and moving French or English upfront
manages to switch the language in winecfg (and Terminal.app and others), the
next time it's started.
For the purpose of Wine, I believe the local LANG setting should be obeyed, not
the desktop session setting.
Note that I have no idea how to start Wine outside of a Terminal.app context
(no Wine[Helper].app here). So LANG is always set when I start Wine in the
shell.

Screenshot of the problem.
With Kaleidagraph 4.0 certain windows are drawn funny. The normally grey
background is drawn with whatever is behind the window when it is first opened.
Moving it around doesn't change the background. Nothing shows up with winedbg
or on the console, but I have little to no experience with wine debugging.
Attached is screenshot of the problem.
Please let me know what other debugging information might help!

Terminal Output log
This program creates a "Run-time error '445': Object doesn't support this
action" as soon as the interface loads. The download comes with several .dll
and .ocx files, most of which do not seem to come pre-packaged with Wine 1.1.4
(the only one I can remember which wasn't new was oleaut32.dll, but there may
have been one or two others).
I've tried moving these files into Wine's system32 folder and running the
program both with and without having those files set as Native Then Builtin.
The only difference I found was that setting oleaut32.dll as Native Then
Builtin causes the error message to change to "Run-time error '-2147467259
(80004005)': Automation error." Whether this means the problem is with the
oleaut.dll file itself, a combination of files, or something else entirely, I
have no idea.

Marrick Ltd. Home Control Assistant (HCA) fails to communicate with a LynX-10
module connected to COM-1, returns an error pop-up window [see image
attachment]
This error occurs when in hardware setup, clicking the Test button for the
device. The device is specified manually-there is nothing implying that there
was any actual communication with the device. Activity lights did not come on
with the LynX-10. The software cannot perform its task without communicating
with the interface.
This does not occur within native Win98SE. The device is indeed connected to
serial port 1 and is powered up.
Background info:
LynX-10 is an X10 interface used for home automation for sending digital
messages through AC lines to turn various devices on and off, dim lights, etc.
with computer control. It connects using a serial port, is powered off the AC
and has an activity light for serial exchanges.

interface needs specification as to what COM port it is attached to. Next to
each interface on the setup dialog is a Test button. When this Test button is
clicked the dialog described above occurs.
The attached log starts from startup of the program, which runs quite smoothly

This bug applies to "Dora the Explorer Click & Create! The BIG Red Chicken", an
educational CD-ROM for young children which is "Made with Macromedia" and
"Powered by Vividas" according to logos on the case.
It is part of a series of at least 48 discs. Assuming the others use the same
runtime/code, they will probably all show the same problem.
Search Google for "dora the explorer click create" (without the quotes) and the
first result is a page with pictures of 48 CDs.
On running AutoRun.exe from the CD, a Vividas icon appears at the bottom left
(this is in virtual desktop mode), then Wine shows a Program Error dialog box
"The program main.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close.
...". On dismissing that, an Application Error dialog box appears, "Exception
EExternalException in module ntdll.dll at 0002EA68. External Exception
C0000025."

Shockwave 11 support installation of "compatiblity components" as described in
the whitepaper linked. As mentioned in the white paper, it is a version of
Shockwave 10 installed side by side. It is automatically invoked when no
playerVersion is specified or if playerVersion is specified to be 10. If it is
not installed, it is automatically downloaded and installed as described in the
white paper. Unfortunately, in Wine, this do not work properly and cause
Shockwave to freeze at "Installing compatiblity components". Workaround is to
install Shockwave 10 manually.

After a fresh start, mouse clicks register as expected. Some time later, the
game no longer registers unmodified (ie, without holding Ctrl or Shift) mouse
clicks on objects in the game world such as players, NPCs, corpses, or resource
nodes.
Mouse clicks, with or without Ctrl or Shift, function normally on most of the
UI elements. Moving items in inventory, interacting with menus, clicking
buttons on quickbars, buying/selling at a vendor, etc work as expected.
Right clicking on chat tabs, player portrait, companion portrait, and possibly
other items should open a context menu, but does not after the bug presents
itself.
Left clicking players, NPCs or objects in the game world to select them as the
active target does not work. However, if floating names are displayed,
clicking on the NPC/object/player's floating name does work to target.
Right clicking a corpse, resource node, or interactable item (such as a quest
object or door) does not work. However, holding shift and right clicking does.
In the case of a corpse or resource node, it functions to "auto loot" (loot
all items without confirmation). In the case of a quest object or door, it
functions as a normal right click should (presumably because this is no action
associated to shift+right click for such objects).
Holding left or right click while moving the mouse functions as expected to
move the camera and player character. Hovering the mouse over
players/NPCs/objects in the world does highlight the object as well.

Apparently, add_drive() in device.c recognizes them as RAM disks (as Mac OS
mounts the drive like a hard drive/USB flash with no partition table), not a
floppy drive, and I am restricted to drive letters D-Z in Wine. Creating the
registry entry for the device at drive A: or B: is ignored, when the diskette
is inserted the drive just gets mounted as E: or so forth. Even if I manually
create the A: drive link in the /DosDevices directory, when I insert the
diskette it gets a new letter and mounts under both. If C-Z are all used, the
drive does not mount at all.
There is no reason why a USB flash device or USB floppy cannot be assigned to
drive letter A: or B:. Windows most certainly allows it! (even network drive
shares are allowed in the A:/B: slot) In fact, if I muck with the registry in
Windows (since the UI doesn't allow it), Windows will allow a hard drive to
occupy the A: or B: slot.
At a minimum, the restrictions in WINE preventing USB Floppies from being
assigned to A:/B: needs to be removed. I need the drive A: because I'm using
the USB floppy for a copy-protection scheme which uses a floppy diskette key to
validate the serial number before allowing an install (the routine also has
logic to block virtual drives and network shares from being used, which is why
a manually created A:/B: will not do).

On at least two games (Thief 2 and Jedi Knight Dark Forces II, I've not tried
others of this vintage yet) unless the key Wine/Direct3D/RenderTargetLockMode
is set to disable the game display is completely unplayable.
Of course, disabling this key has undesirable side effects: in JKDF2 the HUD is
overlaid by the game display, in Thief2 the in game menu is unusable -- but
this must be a strong clue as to what is going wrong here.
I've tried setting this key to default, readtex, texdraw, textex, and in all of
these cases the effect is a sort of upside-down shimmering stripes. This
visual effect may be a side effect of what's really going on, because any
attempt at a screen shot capture either a good image or an upside down image.
I think what is actually happening is that the image is constantly alternating
between upsidedown and rightside up!

Description:
The games runs smooth 60+ fps otherwise. When this bug occurs the screen
stutters/hitches/freezes and sounds will repeat(usually a grenade being thrown
or exploding seem to be commond sounds that play when this happens). This can
last from 1 to 5 seconds. The Hud will often redraw. After this the game is
playable again but occurs frequently, every 2-3 rounds of play. This occurs on
all maps while playing online. It occurred on both 64bit and 32 bit builds of
linux.
There doesn't seem to be any meaningful output from the console.
This bug does not occur using windows operating system on my hardware. It only
occurs when using wine. I think it is related to this.

I have Mortal Kombat Trilogy, patched to version 1.1. The game crashes on
startup. When I run $ wine MKTRILW.EXE
The wine outputs:

On a system with an Nvidia 400 series card for which lspci reports
"nVidia Corporation Device 06%0 (rev a3)"
the hair on one character appears and disappears depending
on the position and orientation of the viewer.
I only have one such system. The other systems are all running
a mix of nvidia 275 or 330, wine or windows, and none of them suffer from this.
Now, this game seems to be flaky, so I have no idea if this is a wine
bug, a game bug, or a driver bug. I'll try to investigate more.

(http://rh-software.com/) no longer crashes when run under Wine, however none
of the PCI Bus reporting actually works. As an experiment I wrote some code to
read the PCI confutation data from "/sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:bb:dd.f/config"
where bb:dd:f are the Bus, Device and Function numbers (the Device and Function
are bits 7...3 and 2...0 of the slot number. The attached screen shot you can
see I was able to read the data what HalGetBusDataByOffset() should return. I
actually did this using the Windows API functions using the following code:

library to address this. I could try and work-a-round this within SIV, but as
SIV would probably not be able to use the Unix/Linux pci library that solution
would be less portable than implementing a solution within
HalGetBusDataByOffset() within Wine. For systems where this data could not be
returned then the current return of 0 (PCI Bus does not exist) would be made.
Note that in the case of the Bus existing and the slot being empty a return of
2 is expected.

The Drives panel in winecfg has a Type: dropdown which allows Auto-detect,
Local Hard Disk, Network Share, Floppy Disk, or CD-ROM to be chosen for each
drive.
Each of these sets a registry value, except for Auto-detect and Local Hard Disk
which simply remove the registry value for the respective drive.
Local Hard Disk should set the registry value for the drive to "hd".

Starting the program without supplied GDIPLUS.DLL file
A user requested assistance with running this program in Wine-Users. Loaded
the trial version and attempted to use. Received error message in a dialog
box: "Can't Activate GLRC. Graphics will not display"
Clicking on the OK button brings up the trial start dialog box. Clicking on
Start on this dialog box brings up the main program screen which quickly
disappears. The program comes with it's own gdiplus.dll, but overriding it
does not clear the problem. Log files attached.

So scenarion is:
KDM -> failsave session (clear session with xterm) -> "wine hl.exe -game
cstrike"
Game runs, everything work. When I do CTRL-ALT-F[1-6], then sound in buffer is
played over again (it's really annoyng) and game is stopped, until is restored
Xorg
(not sure, what effect it have on multiplayer, but I wasn't kicked from server,
so probably not much serious)
Solution:
I expect that wine application/games, should continue in run even when is used
VT.
This problem occured in all tested wine versions.

I tried to launch the game directly from its directory, but it does not change
anything: i issue the command to load the game and almost instantly closes.
I did not use winetricks.

Hi, while in Princess maker 5 I can use LANG=ja_JP.utf8 to run the game with
japanese characters, in princess maker 4 doing the same gave no result, the

The mouse works correctly in all menus. On entering the 3D cockpit view, it
works correctly for a few seconds; long enough to take-off. In flight, the
control becomes less and less responsive. The plane noses down and crashes.
Using a joystick instead of the mouse works correctly but I prefer mouse
control because it's smoother and there's no convenient place to put the
joystick with my small desk and chair. The mouse control works correctly under
WindowsXP.
The problem has been the same for a long time (several years.) and through a
steady migration from Fedora 3 to my current Fedora 11.

Wine 1.1.32-641-ga7bfd6d Log +wgl on Mac OS X
When you create a part, SolidWorks attempts to create a bitmap GL context to do
offscreen rendering. The call to SetPixelFormat() on the bitmap DC fails,
however, because the depth of the pixmap (32) doesn't match the depth of the
visual that winex11 chose (24). (You can add a trace to
create_bitmap_glxpixmap() to see this for yourself.) SolidWorks, however, does
not check the result of SetPixelFormat(), expecting it to succeed, so it goes
ahead and tries to create a GL context. This fails because no pixel format is
set in the DC. As a result, no rendering of parts is done.
I've attached a log showing what happens. There's a second issue that is
demonstrated by that log, so I'm going to file another bug shortly.
I think this is somehow related to Roderick Colenbrander's Xrender patches,
given that we're dealing with a 32-bit pixmap (which wasn't possible until
Xrender support was added).

Like I said in bug 20807, there's a second issue with SolidWorks' rendering. If
you get past the issue in bug 20807, you see only a black screen when it tries
to render parts. I will once again attach the log from bug 20807.
>From reading the log, it seems like SolidWorks is looking for a particular
pixel format. First it tries the pixel format it got back trying to create a
bitmap context earlier. Then it enumerates every pixel format supported by the
driver. Failing that, it tries to create a bitmap context anyway, but fails
because once again no pixel format is set in the DC.

There are no specific errors in Wine, only a message in the application showing

Window repainting is flickering under Wine. Native Win32 works fine (or at
least I cannot see anything). Can provide "closed" source code of the component
to person who will be dealing with this stuff.

I have used Wine to compile and run fairly large programs (more than 75 source
files and 2GB, 5GB of source code). Background is available in my post at Wine
User's forum under title Cannot install Visual C++ version 6.0 (VC6). My last
reply in the thread is this:

So far, I have tried four projects from Windows to Linux/Wine. All compiled
using VC6 on Wine and ran ok the first time. The two largest contained 78 and
105 cpp files with approximate source file sizes 2GB and 5GB.
Features used:
GUI: most standard and extended controls via dialog calls/macros
and CreateWindow, various window positioning/resizing functions,
messageboxes
GDI: most except paths
CHARS: most functions defined by <tchar.h>
FILES: fopen,fread, fwrite, ftell, fseek, fclose, _findfirst,
_findnext, _mkdir, remove, _tunlink
MEMORY new,delete and most memory and <string.h> functions.
Did not use MFC or ATL frameworks, just plain, Windows API functions
and as few of these as I could manage.
Did not use Windows file and directory functions.
Did not use c++ exception handling
Did not use Windows memory allocation function or older mallocs.
BUT
could not get the debugging to work.
1. on entry to the Windows main program:

Values of variables a and b were reported as unknown expressions.
2. a little bit further into WinMain at call to CreateWindow for

The program entered CreateWindow, but never returned.
Does debugging work, or have I entered unchartered waters?

I don't write bigger and more resource-demanding programs than those mentioned
above. The VC6 compiled these with ease, ran without a single glitch and the
IDE behaved as I was used to see it. With debugging working there is no reason
for me to be on Windows any more. Have wanted to leave for years.
VC6 is an excellent product (too good to be Microsoft) and it now seems it can
offer cross-development on Linux. Really worth pursuing in my view.

In-game screenshot depicting the problem
The game RollorCoaster Tycoon (with the Loopy Landscapes add-on) shows a wrong
background colour (see attached image) in a menu, where all occurred events are
logged. The colour shouldn't be the green but the grey you see in the
background of the ride menu in the lower left corner.
Testsystem:
- AMD Athlon XP (1.2GHz)
- 1.5 GB RAM (DDR)
- ATI Radeon R300 (with the radeon driver, v6.12.2)

Output following boot up of Word97 and click on Wordtalk configure icon.
Trying to run Wordtalk with Word 97 on an Asus Eeepc (Xandros) through Wine
1.0.
Both Word and Wordtalk appear to install satisfactorily and the Wordtalk
tooolbar appears in Word. However on clicking icons on the bar nothing works. I
have set oleaut.dll to native and installed riched20 and riched30 from
Winetricks. This seems to enable the Visual Basic Editor but still can't get
the macros in Wordtalk to run.
Wordtalk is an addin which is extremely imporatnt for dyslexic users. It
'echoes' text and reads the spellcheck list. I am very keen to get this running
for school pupils in our area so priority is quite high! Anny help most
welcome.
A log of console output is attached, following boot up of Word and click on the
'configure' icon on Wordtalk tooolbar (black spanner)
I've tried using Word 2003 instead - similar results. Would prefer to use
Word97 because the Asus Eeepc has limited hard disc space so a compact
installation is preferable.
Word 97 was installed with the 'typical' installation option and the 'full'
version of Wordtalk was used. The Wordtalkstartup utility is installed and
working correctly.

errors log
After 1-2 minute of playing the pieces are displayed as in the screenshot.
I've attached a screenshot and a log of the 'errors' occurring.
The play before that weird displaying is good. The engine loads too.
My system is debian testing on x86-64. wine 1.1.37.
The icons on the menu are crappy too. They're crappy since the start of the
program.

I have a Win app which needs a license to run. The license needs to verify the
mac-id of the machine on which it is installed. So, when I start the app, I get
the message - "No ethernet adapater is found on this machine". I know that the
app is correctly installed since it almost opens up, but gives this message and
then ends. Is there a way in Wine to 'trick' the app and pass a desired value
of the mac-id, so that the app can then run? All that the app needs is a
mac-id.

Input from the mouse does not seem to reach the application.
I tried running the application's setup program,
switching between mouse in "color mode", "black & white" mode
and "software mode".
The colorful surface that represents the mouse pointer shows on the top-left
part of the screen, but does not move in response to mouse movement.
I tried running with a native dinput.dll, but there was no difference.
Therefore I set WINEDEBUG=dinput, and saw nothing in the trace.
I don't know which WINEDEBUG values to try in this case.
I was not sure which component to pick from the list, and I went with
x11driver, but I have no idea if the issue is really there.

5. Resize the dialog
On windows, you only see the left-right resize mouse pointer and can only

I'm testing the Adobe Bridge that comes with the Photoshop CS2 trial. On
