The debug output from trying to run an installed SR3D with DotNet 2.0 installed
on Wine 1.3.1
SR3D Builder (see in the AppDB here:
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=11802 ) is an
LDraw based advanced 3D virtual LEGO construction and testing environment,
currently still under development (this bug is valid as of version 0.5.5.2).
This bug pertains to the fact that SR3D Builder will currently only install
(and even then, questionably) when DotNet2.0 is installed via Winetricks, and
that trying to run it results in a Directx-d3d related Unhandled Exception, the
cause of which is most likely to do with SR3D's apparent dependence (according
to its website) on the update at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=2da…
, which itself does not install on WINE 1.3.1
I'd much prefer to be able to use this as the only LDraw app that is
functionality-wise and user-friendliness-wise a viable alternative to Lego
Digital Designer. I need to use LDraw-based apps from start to finish for the
best and most efficient output on my models, complete with LPub instructions.
However, I'd rather not have to purchase MS Window for the privilege.

I am using Wine 1.1.15 from Ritchie's Ubuntu repository on Ubuntu-amd64.
I cannot get Adobe Photoshop CS2 to install. It get stuck on the setup screen
where it asks for the user's name and serial number:
"The following information must be entered before installation ..."
If I fill in the name and organization fields and choose "Install 30-day trial
version", the next screen tells me that "0 This is not a valid serial
number..."
If I actually type in a serial number, it will tell me that "#########
This is not a valid serial number..."
So, I cannot install with a serial number, and I cannot install the trial
either. I downgraded to ubuntu~1.0.1 and still had this problem.

Hello friends. I appologize for disturbing you, I hope I'm not doing anything
wrong by posting this thing here, but, I decided to try.
I've been using Debian for about a year, and I've got a bit of a problem with
an electronic dictionary which is very dear to me, since I work with texts...
It's the Houaiss Portuguese Dictionary, made for Windows.
All the other dictionaries I use run perfectly well in Wine, but this one has
got some kind of strange bug. Sometimes, when I open it, it appears as a
minimized window at the panel below. If you then click on it to maximize it,
instead of a full screen window what you get is only a very narrow strip of
window. If you click on its right-hand upper corner in order do maximize it,
nothing happens. All you can do is close it. Then, if you run the programm
again, the same thing will happen, no matter how many times you try. If you
uninstall the software and re-install it completely, usually the same thing
happens!
A friend of mine wrote a script for me which has helped, since with it I
usually can make it work again, but it's always a little bit annoying, since it
doesn't work immediately, and you have to run the scrip a thousand times before
the moody dictionary decides to work.
The scrip I've been using to fix the problem runs as follows:
#!/bin/sh
cp -a ~/.wine_working/* ~/.wine
echo "old good wine restored..."
I'm no expert al all, as you can see, so if you could help me (and probably
other portuguese speakers who use this dictionary) to definetely solve this
problem I'd really appreciate!
I thank you very much for your attention and help!
Zac

In Full Tilt Poker you can hear a few sounds - a slight ding when it's your
turn, the sound of cards being delt, and chips stacking. In Wine, however,
they stop completely after about 4 or 5 hands have been played.

pol.exe refresh problem when in windowed mode
In windowed mode, when you move app's window that only part is visible, then in
this partially visible state is not correctly updated.
1) Probably nobody can explain that better than Henri
I think what happens is that the blit is rejected because it's partially
outside
the screen. While moving the window to the outside that isn't very noticeable,
but as soon as you move it back you see the now cleared parts of the window
that don't get updated until the window is fully inside the screen again.
2) Another test scenario:
When app's window is only partly visible and then resized, it becomes black.
Attachment shows the 1st test scenario (they are probably related, thus in one

This is a feature request, not a bug.
Wine has an utterly useless "the application has crashed" window, or at least,

window should have an unfoldable edit box containing all the terminal output of
the application up to its crash, and a button to copy the content in this edit
box. Finally, the crash description should indicate that you should copy that
text and bring it to the Wine forums in order to get help/troubleshooting.
Why? Because it makes giving feedback on Wine apps a lot quicker. A lot of us
do actually run Wine apps from the terminal, but most newbies don't, and this
is a way to assist them helping the Wine devs know about the problem a lot more
quickly than the usual routine, which is:
- Make a forum thread about how the app doesn't work, with little to no further
info;
- Have someone tell you to run in terminal;
- Possibly learn to use the terminal, then run the app from there;
- (At this point, a day may have passed) Run back to the forums with actual
terminal output.
Adding the text box with the terminal output straight into the "application
crashed" window not only makes the window actually useful, but it also
eliminates the delay that exists because new users may have to be assisted in
actually running the app from terminal.
Further notes: of course, from that point, the user may be advised as to how to
run the app from terminal anyway, but at least for this time, or for any time
when they just want to double-click an app to run, they'll get the actual log
much more quickly.

terminal output
'Clones' is a nice Lemmings clone.
After choosing to play the game in single-player mode, the game is stuck on the
level selection screen: clicking on anything on the screen does nothing. The
keyboard is still working and pressing 'q' brings up a window where I can
choose to quit the game (by using the mouse).
Interestingly the bug only appears when selecting single-player mode: no such
problem when entering the multiplayer menu of the game.
The game works without the issue in Wine-1.3.6 and here's the result of the
regression test:

The patch can be reverted cleanly on top of Wine-1.3.10 and that fixed the
issue.
How to reproduce the problem in the demo:
1. After installation launch the game by ../Bin/ClonesGame.exe
2. Create a new profile then choose the first option in the main menu, named
'Pilgrimage'.
3. A level selection screen is shown but you can't proceed further because the
game is stuck.

Summary: Issues using embedded html (DVD Profiler written with
Delphi)
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.10
Platform: PC-x86-64
URL: http://www.invelos.com/Downloads.aspx
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: Stuart(a)houseofanime.org
DVD Profiler's 'general' windows contains a link called 'view contributors'.
The 'general' screen appears to be a part of the application. If you follow
this link, it opens a new window showing contributions for that profile. This
screen appears to be an html page rendered in an application window. I make
this distinction because of the different performance.
The main windows of the application perform (more or less) as you would expect,
but some of the html-based windows do not function correctly. In the 'view
contributors' window, you can not scroll or follow links (although a scroll
mouse wheel will scroll the page and the icon changes as you move over a link).
If I install IE6 using winetricks, the screen allows scrolling by clicking with
the mouse, but links still do not work.

Summary: DDO - Silent crash at login
Product: Wine
Version: 1.2-rc6
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Mac OS X 10.6
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: openal32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: p_monkey99(a)hotmail.com
CC: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Under recent versions of Wine, after logging in successfully (using PyLOTRO),
DDO will display the loading screen, and then crash silently before the
character select screen appears.
Reproducibility: Always
Steps to reproduce:
1) Open PyLOTRO.
2) Log into game.
Expected behavior:
Loading screen appears, blue bar fills up, character select screen appears.
Actual behavior:
Loading screen appears, blue bar fills up, game shuts down, displays the
PyLOTRO output window, which displays ***FINISHED***.
After some digging, it appears that this crash may be audio-related. The bug
first appears in Wine 1.1.30, and the one Mac-related fix listed in the
changelog for that version refers to OpenAL. Also, in previous versions of
Wine, after quitting the game the message "opena32.dll - cannot find exact
match; picking first". This message does not show up in later versions.
Haven't yet found a backtrace with any telling details, but this message does
show up in my debug log, starting with version 1.1.30:
err:gsm:GSM_DriverProc libgsm support not compiled in!
I haven't tested every version in between, but the crash does occur in 1.1.43,
.44, and all of the 1.2RC's. Tested on a MacBook Pro, Core 2 Duo 2.33, Radeon
Mobility x1600, OS X 10.6.4.
