Log file
When the PocketBible application is started, the splash screen appears, but
nothing else. Errors are reported on the command line. The attached log file is
generated from a clean Wine install.
After discussion in this thread, I tried using winetricks cc580 to install a
native comctl32.dll:
http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?p=17535#17535
The DLL installed was v5.80 and the application then produced an error
indicating that v5.81 minimum is required. I substituted a native DLL of this
version and the application now runs successfully.
I noticed that replacing the Wine DLL with the native v5.81 directly is not
sufficient and it is necessary first to use winetricks as above and then to
substitute the later version DLL.

Summary: Braid: Both Shift keys needed to move puzzle pieces
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.25
Platform: PC
URL: http://www.playgreenhouse.com/game/NNONE-000001-01/
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: elton(a)schiert.net
Steps to reproduce:
-Download Braid Demo from http://www.playgreenhouse.com/game/NNONE-000001-01/
-Install and run it
-Enter the first level and play until you have collected at least one puzzle
piece
(this takes just one minute)
-You can now exit the level and go back to the house
-Stand in front of the puzzle area and use it
-On this screen you are supposed to be able to move the pieces around by
placing
the cursor over them, holding any Shift key and using the cursor keys or WASD
-This works on Windows; but with Wine I need to press both (left and right)
Shift
keys to be able to move a piece
Notes:
-Only the puzzle screen is affected. Rest of the game works with any Shift key.
-Once both Shift keys have been pressed in order to "grab" a piece one can let
go
one key and is still able to move the piece around until one lets go of the
2nd
Shift key. Only then the piece is "released"

Terminal output
In HTML-Kit build 292, one of the tab bars (the one below the current working
file) isn't displayed as expected in Wine. In Windows, the entire tab bar is
visible, but in Wine, part of it is cut off, with scroll arrows present to
bring the rest into view. Native comctl32 installed by winetricks fixes the
issue.
Interestingly, increasing Wine's DPI to 120 allows all the tabs to display at
once, though rendering is still a bit different from Windows.
Terminal output is from opening the program and entering "create a new file"
mode (which is when the tabs first become visible).

I don't know when this first started, but this is apparent in Wine 1.0.0
through 1.1.16.
The cursor in Rise of Nations and it's expansion Thrones and Patriots ignores
right-clicks and left-clicks. Clicking BOTH left and right mouse button acts
as a left click.
There is a workaround. Editing the rise2.ini file, setting "ForceGDICursor=1"
allows the cursor/mouse to behave normally. It also corrects a transparency
problem with the cursor.
I don't know what traces might be relevant here...

Would it be technically possible to implement a virtual desktop that allows you
to set the colour depth and resolution, but then wine will stretch the virtual
desktop to full-screen or to a custom resolution?
What would happen if you fooled a game that needed 256 colour depth into
thinking that's what it is running in while it is actually running at 24bit?
I ask this as I am unable to change my colour depth and reduce my resolution
below 640x480. And even when I could change my colour depth it meant restarting
the X-server. I assume other people will also have this problem.

If I've got Steam client window opened on a page where some help tooltips are
expected to popup on mouseover's over some UI elements they would popup and
show as a top z-order window no matter is the Steam windows currently active
one or not. An example how might it look like may be seen in attached
screenshot.
Easiest page to trigger the bug is the "Game details" view in the games library
for the games with "Achievements" available - there would be tooltip popups
when moving the mouse pointer over the pictures representing the achievements.
This behavior was spotted with wine versions starting at about 1.2-rc1 and up
to current 1.2-rc4. Can't tell if earlier versions of Wine suffered the same
bug as I haven't got enough free time to compile and do some tests with em.

This application runs well, but they do not draw text correctly or do not draw
text at all. See the screenshots.
The applications are fast enough to be usable. The strange thing is that in
CrossOver 9.0 that is wine 1.1.34 based. It draws correctly but it is to slow.
I think that could be one of two problems:
* Font engine, due to CrossOver and wine have different ones.
* DIB Engine, maybe the dib engine was changed in recent wine versions and in
CrossOver don't.
Anyone can help me to do further tests in order to this issue be fixed?

Hi All,
Would you guys fix this for me?
I am using Lotus Word Pro N9.8.0208.1200. When you open two files (documents)
from the command line (the jpeg I have attached), then go to the "Window" pull
down to select which file to bring into focus, the file names are missing. If
you start Word Pro, then use File, Open to select two files, one at a time, the
second file does not show.
Many thanks,

Summary: An unmanaged window moves wrong way (and disappears)

Product: Wine

When the window managed by Wine (not by X window manager) is moving with the
mouse and the mouse pointer goes to another screen (for example, at the right
side), the window starts to move down the screen and then dissapears.
It seems it's related to the MotionNotify event handler in
dlls/winex11.drv/mouse.c.
Xlib programming manual describes XMotionEvent as follows:
The same_screen member is set to indicate whether the event window is on the
same screen as the root window and can be either True or False . If True , the
event and root windows are on the same screen. If False , the event and root
windows are not on the same screen.
…
If the event window is on the same screen as the root window, the x and y
members are set to the coordinates relative to the event window's origin.
Otherwise, these members are set to zero.
But the MotionNotify event doesn't check the same_screen member and passes null
coordinates to the update_mouse_state function and it causes wrong window
positioning.

(Also, the app outputs

To see the bug, open regedit drag the bar that separates registry tree from
values so that it partly covers registry branches names. If you use native
comctl32.dll or in windows you'll see tooltips over these partly covered items,
displaying full item name. Wine won't show anything.
This is true with listview also.
In some applications that have big listview tables with long values this bug
becomes pretty annoying (when you constantly have to change comlumn widths etc
in order to see complete values).
Maybe this bug was reported earlier, but I have not found it.

I note that Winscp (winscp.org) is able to display TortoiseSVN menus in the
local file window when running under Windows, but not when running under wine.
Here is how I invoke winscp under wine:
WINEDEBUG=fixme-all wine "c:/program files/winscp/winscp"
Background:
WinSCP is a very nice GUI front end for Subversion (svn). You can read about
it and download it here: http://tortoisesvn.tigris.org/
TortoiseSVN should not be run across a network when the Icon Overlays feature
is enabled.
http://tortoisesvn.net/node/138http://tortoisesvn.net/node/267
However, TortoiseSVN's icon overlay feature is one of the program's major
assets.
I want to use Cygwin's xterm to connect to the samba server that holds the svn
checkout directory and use Wine to run TortoiseSVN locally on that server. The
user would be presented with a nice visual representation of the state of their
checked out Subversion project, and performance would be good.
On Windows, TortoiseSVN can display its icons in any file chooser window, and
in Windows Explorer. I have also found that WinSCP's explorer view will show
icons for the local machine.
I would prefer not to have to run WinSCP in order to view TortoiseSVN icons.
Perhaps a tiny Win32 program that merely shows a file dialog would be
sufficient to run in an xterm, if Wine would support whatever system calls
TortoiseSVN makes.
For me, and many other programmers and IT personnel who work in a mixed
Windows/Linux environment, Wine would be much more useful if there was a way to
run it under Wine. Might it be possible to extend winefile with whatever it
currently lacks in order to allow TortoiseSVN to run?

Installing MSYS after MinGW on windows sets things up so that the existing
MinGW install integrates with MSYS, whereby /mingw from the MSYS shell points
to the MinGW install.
First download:
wget
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/mingw/MinGW-5.1.4.exe?modtime=1209244789&b…
run MinGW-5.1.4.exe with all defaults.
Second download:
wget
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/mingw/MSYS-1.0.10.exe?modtime=1079444447&b…
run wineconsole cmd (required because Wine doesn't launch a console window like
windows does)
MSYS-1.0.10.exe
Answer the defaults to the prompted questions on the console window before the
installer finishes (it pauses there)
wine cmd /c c:\msys\1.0\msys.bat
Typing 'gcc' in the msys terminal echos "sh: gcc: command not found", whereas
on windows it says gcc.exe: no input files.
On windows within msys, `ls /mingw` lists the contents of C:\mingw, on Wine
/mingw is empty.

This is a long standing issue that occurs using the Compiz window manager.
Easy enough to trigger.
1. Open table and be seated
2. Change workspace so you can no longer see the table, and wait for the
application to alert you that its your turn.
3. Return to the workspace the table is supposed to be on and you will find it
has disappeared.
The application is definitely still running, and the table window is definitely
still active (you can here the alert sounds and cards being dealt)

x = pos.x + 150;
y = -10;
test_lvm_subitemhittest(hwnd, x, y, -1, 1, LVHT_NOWHERE, FALSE, FALSE, FALSE);
The failures read:

listview.c:3056: Test failed: Expected -1 item, got -2
listview.c:3056: Test failed: Expected flags 0x1, got 0x4
This basically says that the message returned -2 (undocumented ?) and set the
flags to LVHT_ONITEMLABEL.
Is y = -10 relative to the control client area or the parent window? How can
you be on the item label in either case? Should the above values be added as

See the instructions in bug 11414, comment 10 for information on how to

Obviously, stubbing out MsiMergeDatabase to always succeed is not enough for
the validation to work properly.
I sent a patch to wine-patches which adds the stub, Adding the stub merely
prevents wine from crashing, but the validation does not succeed.

ReportedBy: caliga(a)arcor.de
In our Software TeamViewer, a Richedit control is used to display chat
messages.
The nick names are colored green or blue, the text should remain black.
This works in general...
But if one side sends several chat messages in row, the nick name is omitted
(by TeamViewer).
And then, an empty selection (where the nickname would be) is formated green or
blue.
It seems, that if this happens the second time, something is screwed up and the
color becomes the default color...
Of course TeamViewer could just NOT format the empty selection with
EM_SETCHARFORMAT, (and this will be done in an upcoming release), but still
this is a wine bug, I think.
To reproduce, start a remote support session in TeamViewer from your Linux-box
to a different TeamViewer, then click on Audio/Video/Chat and type three or
more messages.

It seems that iTunes 10.1 under Wine cannot find shared libraries. I think
this has something to do with mdnsresponder not able to talk on the required
port.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Go to preferences in iTunes running either on Mac or natively on Windows.
2. click on Sharing.
3. Enable Music Sharing.
4. Go to a wine directory which has iTunes installed.
5. Start up iTunes under Wine.
6. Wait about a minute.
7. Look under Sharing on the sidebar.
Expected result:
You should see the shared library.
Actual result:
The share doesn't show up at all.

Resident Evil 1 does not start giving the error "Failed to initialize the
Graphics Hardware Device.(3)". It's a DirectX 3 game using immediate mode.
After some debugging I found that it relies on 3 (three) entries returned by
EnumDevices whereas wine returns only the Direct3D HAL entry in this case
(d3dversion == 1). Removing the if-clause in ddraw/direct3d.c and duplicating
the HAL entry solves the problem and the game actually runs almost perfectly
(Garbage -> Platinum).
I checked a Windows installation which returns "HAL", "RGB Emulation" and "Ramp
Emulation" but the comments in the file suggest that not all games are happy
about that. So how to fix this properly?

Summary: Fullscreen fails for MechWarrior 4 games (Only one D3D

Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.2
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: directx-ddraw
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: georg298(a)gmx.de
For all MechWarrior 4 games, fullscreen fails with message
fixme:ddraw:d3d7_CreateDevice Only one Direct3D device per DirectDraw object
supported.
Obviously, the game falls back to window'ed mode, as
static HRESULT WINAPI d3d7_CreateDevice(IDirect3D7 *iface, REFCLSID riid,
IDirectDrawSurface7 *surface, IDirect3DDevice7 **device)
returns
DDERR_INVALIDPARAMS
changing this behaviour (returning D3D_OK instead):
if (ddraw->d3ddevice)
{
FIXME("Only one Direct3D device per DirectDraw object supported.\n");
LeaveCriticalSection(&ddraw_cs);
return D3D_OK;
// return DDERR_INVALIDPARAMS;
}
makes fullscreen work for these games.
Probably it's not "legal" to return D3D_OK in this case, but maybe there is a
real solution for this problem?

trace with WINEDEBUG=+tid,+message,+win,+server
Hello,
I've seen this bug a while ago in other apps but ignored it because it was not
easily to reproduce.
Well until recently when I tested some stuff with windbg from "Debugging Tools
for Windows" (Microsoft).
I used debugging tools version 6.8.4.0 and recent GIT
(wine-0.9.49-302-g58b85bb).
Immediately when a child window was opened using toolbar (register, locals, ..
whatever), windbg would become unresponsive, eating most CPU.
Happens in both GUI modes - "floating/docking toolwindow" and "MDI emulation.
Though "MDI emulation" is more obvious, it actually shows the endless
refreshing (window caption).
Attached is WINEDEBUG=+tid,+message,+win,+server log.
Additionally I added a trace message which prints the current queue paint count
(when incremented or fetched) which makes some things easier to spot.
Printed as "inc_queue_paint_count: %d" and "get_message_paint_count: %d".
The window hierarchy is as follows:
--- snip ---
*root*=0x10020
Shell_TrayWnd=0x10022
WinDbgFrameClass=0x10024
DockClass=0x10026
ToolbarWindow32=0x10028
msctls_statusbar32=0x1002a
tooltips_class32=0x1002e
WinBaseClass=0x10030
ToolbarWindow32=0x10032
SysListView32=0x10034
SysHeader32=0x10036
RichEdit20W=0x10038
--- snip ---
After the child windows are created the queue paint count never drops to zero,
resulting in endless WM_PAINT processing.
Maybe some update (region) code path missed or flags problem?
I played a bit with ignoring null region updates and it seemed to help a bit
(preventing endless WM_PAINT loop) though other stuff wasn't drawn properly
then.

Runs great on Vista.
It installs fine on Wine. To start the app, do
cd ~/".wine/drive_c/Program Files/3impact5demos"
wine demos.exe skinnedragdoll.dll
The first problem is bug 21790; do 'winetricks vcrun2005' to get past that.
The next problem is a crash related to
d3dx9_36.D3DXAssembleShaderFromResourceW,
roughly bug 12020. Work around this with 'winetricks d3dx9'.
The next problem is that full-screen mode doesn't work (bug 21791).
Work around this by telling the demo to run in a window.
This prompts you to press N, and then crashes after you do, with
wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x0000001c at address 0x431c10
(thread 0009), starting debugger...
I'll attach a +relay,+seh log.

Hello,
after bug 16875 is fixed, there is another bug unearthed by WIC installer.
Normally you won't notice it because the main installer claims success on this
sub-installer.
If you run WIC installer manually and press "finish" in last property page it
simply hangs.
Prerequisite:
1. clean WINEPREFIX
2. download .NET 3.0 Framework installer from: http://download.microsoft.com
/download/4/d/a/4da3a5fa-ee6a-42b8-8bfa-ea5c4a458a7d/dotnetfx3setup.exe
(sha1sum:
a566bcd2ffffc3842a95adc57f7df3f8cd11577f)
3. export _SFX_CAB_SHUTDOWN_REQUEST=1 (workaround, see bug 9158)
4. wine ./dotnetfx3setup.exe
It might take a while until all required packages are downloaded using BITS.
Note: If you need to redo steps, backup the directory "dotnetfx304506.30" from
"c:\\windows\\temp" to a different location, remove ~/.wine, copy
"dotnetfx304506.30" again to "c:\\windows\\temp" to prevent BITS from
downloading over and over again.

This propery sheet is modal.
When the message pumps exits, the return value is derived from "psInfo->result"
which is set to IDOK (button "finish") in PROPSHEET_Finish().
Unfortunately this tells the app the property sheet is modeless and it tries to
setup it's own message pump after PropertySheetW() return which obviously hangs
because the control is no more present at this time.

Summary: Printing coupons from online sites results in a blank
coupon
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.38
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2

AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: tribes2player2003(a)yahoo.com
Many stores / sites use a product called "coupon activator" to support online
coupon distribution (Target on-line is my test case), but a quick net search
reveals that many sites use this service.
When printing should take place, the following messages are printed to console:
fixme:psdrv:PSDRV_GetDeviceCaps (0x1f5c): unsupported capability 1, will return
0
fixme:psdrv:PSDRV_GetDeviceCaps (0x1f5c): unsupported capability 3, will return
0
...
(capability numbers go from 1 to 31).
The coupon boarders, expiration date, and scissors icon print, but the
internals of the coupon are blank (bar codes, images, etc).
Steps to reproduce (using Default Fedora 12 wine install):
- Install firefox on wine
- Visit target.com, goto "get coupons"
- Allow install of coupon activator
- Select a coupon to print
- Print
If there's any additional steps I can take to help with this, please let me
know.

"[Running colasoft mac scan in wine complains

So I downloaded it and tried it.
It found my IP address right away, so that's fine.
But it wasn't able to actually scan for MAC addresses; it
had lots of
fixme:iphlpapi:SendARP (DestIP 0xda01a8c0, SrcIP 0x00000000, pMacAddr

probably to send the packet, wait a millisec, then do
ioctl SIOCGARP. (Or the command arp -n W.X.Y.Z. Or look in /proc/net/arp.)
It'd be cheesy beans to implement, if anybody cares to.
