Mortyr 2093-1944 is an old WW2/futuristic FPS (I could not find any official

Anytime a bullet hits the floor or a wall, a big black square appears
surrounding the hit point. Log is attached.

Repro steps:
1. Get latest wine (i've used latest snapshot from git) and windows premium
client (it's very likely that classic client is affected too, but i din't test
it) from http://www.eve-online.com/download/windows.asp, install them
2. Launch EVE (premium or classic graphic mode - doesn't matter, i've tested
both)
3. Switch focus from game and return it back (i've tried both windowed and
fullscreen, it doesn't matter)
4. Repeat step 3 if game wasn't affected
Game crashes (20%) or hangs (80% - sound doesn't stop when game hangs) when i
restore focus back to it (_not_ on focus loss) with the following messages in
console (3 different instances):

The radar image is only drawn when the window is maximized. When maximized,
the window that displays the radar images is offset up and to the left and
draws over toolbars, menus and other windows when it redraws. The point where
the mouse pointer is and where the click is effective is offset up and to the
left of the actual mouse position. The mouse offset appears to match the
screen offset.
Screenshots are attached, descriptions from top to bottom:
1. Non-maximized window, a radar image should be displayed, but is not. You
can see the toolbar that is normally covered by the offset image.
2. Normal view with radar image offset and toolbar covered
3. Shows active window being overwritten by radar image
4. Shows zoombox, you can't see the mouse pointer, but it is down and to the
right of the box.
5. Image did not automatically redraw when a window from another application
was closed.
A 21 day free trial of this program may be downloaded from
http:www.grlevelx.com
To get the radar sites, click File > Configure Polling, then click Add and
paste in http://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/data/nexrd2/raw/
When you return to the program's main screen, click Sites and a list of
available radar sites should be displayed. After a site is selected, click

Hello,
MagicISO (application to manage disc images) is a quite complex app with nice
interface. It works properly on Windows, but on Wine the interface redrawing is
very slow.
I can see every icon popping up on the screen, and every menu entry drawn one
by one (btw menu is draw twice).
Wine shows no errors at all, application works perfectly (which is IMHO -
MAGIC).

This bug applies to two games by Wihlborg Entertainment, Piranha Panic and
SinkSub Pro. Demo versions can be downloaded from
http://www.wihlborg.se/piranha_panic.html and
http://www.wihlborg.se/sinksub_pro.html
Piranha Panic works in Windows 3.1 and later. SinkSub Pro works in Windows 95
and later. There are possibly two problems which may be connected:
- Most graphics are rendered upside-down.
- Graphics are not refreshed properly.
The installers work okay, albeit complaining about not being able to create a
program group.
After starting Piranha Panic, notice the "garbage" which appears on-screen.
Drag the window mostly off-screen and back again. Doing that forces the window
contents to refresh and the upside-down text appears.

This just seems to happen periodically. Although during the game I am running
it in a window and I switch between applications and between desktops, but it
appears to happen at any time and not directly after I do anything in
particular.
Basically it appears that the HUD gets offset, and stretched a little. I have
included comparison images:
Look at the top right of the HUD on this screenshot, you can see $2700
displayed.

But here, the money gets cut off:

The problem is also displayed here:

Notice how the blue screen doesn't make it all the way to the bottom
here is how it should look:

blue screen goes all the way down.

It applies not for all applications. It is not only the problem with current
version of Wine, because it happened before.
Take for example Great PWN Dictionary -- you install wine, you install this
app, everything works fine. But when you update wine something is changed in
that way that this app is corrupted and it (not wine) says the installation was
not successful, reinstall is required. After reinstall everything is fine again
until... next wine update. And so on.
I know there is not much details here, please ask what should I add, I will
help for sure.

Summary: WINE needs to support XRandR 1.2
Product: Wine

Created an attachment (id=32154)
--> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=32154)
A patch to add support for XRandA 1.2. It will break many things.
Wine currently supports XRandR 1.1, which is fine for single-monitor users. It
is bad for multi-monitor users because every time wine tries to change the
resolution it completely mucks everything up, and usually switches off a
monitor, eg, bug 16958 (which is a XRandR problem).
XRandR 1.2 introduced some very major architecture changes (*) to support
multi-monitor setups.
I've attached a badly formatted & crufty patch that implements the required
bits of XRandR 1.2. Some issues remain:
A) Fullscreen applications no longer occupy the whole X Screen - only one
physical screen. Games will need to confine the mouse pointer to that screen to
remain playable, and I don't know where in Wine to do this. This may run afoul
of bug 6971.
B) I'm not certain how this patch might interact with DirectDraw & Direct3D -
it probably breaks the screen co-ordinate assumptions in wine.
I don't think it is worth tidying this patch to the formatting standard
required for Wine until A is dealt with.
The patch includes a lot of garbage included as I tried to work out how ddraw
and xrandr interacted (sorry), and what Xinerama was doing in the mix. The
really important parts are X11DRV_XRandR_Init(void), make_modes(void), int
X11DRV_XRandR_GetCurrentMode(void) and LONG X11DRV_XRandR_SetCurrentMode(int
mode) in xrandr12.c.
(*) http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/proto/randrproto/tree/randrproto.txt -
Sec. 1.2 - wine should be resizing crtc, not the screen.

Gameplay slows down a lot, when text is displayed in game window. I mean white
text with information in top left corner or text when writing cheats.
Displaying text in game guides is OK, same as text in classic Windows dialogs.
Steps to reproduce:
For white text in top lef corner:
1. start playing the game (SINGLEPLAYER > QUICKSTART)
2. click the mouse button twice, to actually start playing the game
3. hit F5 to quicksave the game
4. set a name of the game and click on Save
5. OK all the dialogs
6. F5 again
5. the white text appears in top left corner, game slows down until text
disappears
(This may not work in the demo.)
For writing a cheat:
1. start playing the game (SINGLEPLAYER > QUICKSTART)
2. click the mouse button twice, to actually start playing the game
3. hit Enter and write something
4. game slows down
5. hit Enter again
6. game is OK again
It is not playable during the time, game is slowed down. Also I know two
things:
1. Neither CPU or Memory usage goes up during the slow down.
2. There are no errors or text in the terminal during the slow down.
Demo link: http://download.cnet.com/Gruntz-demo/3000-7562_4-10026065.html
PS Sorry, but I didn't test this in any earlier version of Wine, so it is
possible this is happening since ever...

The right window complains that "the page cannot be displayed".
I have verified that the file displays ok on Windows XP SP3, so
the problem appears to be in my wine setup.
I assume that this may be related to the "err:" messages I receive when running
hh.exe.
I will upload the following material:
a) Sample CHM file
b) output generated from hh.exe
c) sample screenshot showing display on Windows XP SP3.
Is there anything I can do to get hh.exe to display correctly, or is this
a genuine bug that needs to be fixed?

In both the car selection screen and the races, the cars in the Need for Speed:
Hot Pursuit demo are all but invisible. The only trace of them in the race is
the shadows and the sparks that fly when you hit stuff.
The cars used to be rendered perpendicular and textureless (See bug 10613). Now
they don't render at all, and the output at the command line is decidedly
different. (See attached file)
When you have vertex/pixel shaders turned off manually in winecfg, you get Bug
12252.
The game should run without shaders, as it supports nvidia chipsets all the way
back to the original GeForce. My card is an nvidia Geforce 4 MX 440 with the
latest nvidia drivers for the card.

This problem is probably not only with Final Fantasy VII but that's the only
affected application I know of. Basically, the normal flow of the game has a
message loop like any other with translatemessage/dispatchmessage etc. However,
sometimes it goes into a loop which doesn't handle window messages and this is
where the problem appears, suddenly it doesn't see any input anymore and you
can't do anything but kill the application. I traced the input routines and
found that the game uses GetDeviceState for keyboard input, I can only guess
that this is not updating if no messages are being processed, I haven't
actually run it through a debugger to check. In windows this works fine of
course, input is recognized as usual and the game does not hang. An easy way to
trigger this is to try to quit the game from the ingame menu, a confirmation
dialog appears and the game is still running but you can't do anything.

After purchasing the game, you download an installer executable:
ToMI_SiegeOfSpinnerCay_Setup.exe. This installer appears to complete
successfully.
Upon launching the installed game, you're presented with a launcher window in
which you can either enter your Telltale online account name and password, or
the game-specific serial key (which you can find out on the website after
logging in), to unlock the game.
Unfortunately, the launcher gets stuck on "Unlocking, please wait."
indefinitely after entering either information.
This is a regression: In older Wine versions - unfortunately, I don't quite
remember what version - the game installed, unlocked and then worked
flawlessly.
Of note is that with this older version, the launcher was just a white
rectangle with a HTML line edit where you put the serial and a Submit button to
then unlock it. Now, the launcher appears graphically much more sophisticated,
with proper backgrounds, themed input forms and animations. But it's probably
still HTML-based. Thus my assumption is that what happened here is that Wine's
MSHTML implementation has greatly improved, but those code changes have also
broken the crucial bit that makes unlocking work.
My Wine is 1.2-rc6 on Fedora 13 x86_64. I started with a fresh ~/.wine with
default settings, then used the latest version of winetricks to install the
gecko component, and then ran the installer.

Summary: Spirits of Metropolis doesn't work properly without
using 'Emulate a Virtual Desktop'
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P3
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: lostoverthere(a)gmail.com
The game, Spirits of Metropolis, does not display either full screen (default)
or windowed mode correctly. However, this issue is easily resolved by enabling
Emulate Virtual Desktop and setting it to 800x600.
However, if you dont do that and let the game run by itself. When it starts for
the first time in full screen. The game appears in the top left hand corner if
the users resolution is larger then 800x600, with the rest of the space just
being black. The game is meant to be stretched to the users resolution by
default.
If the user changes the games settings in options to run in windowed mode, the
game goes into windowed mode but the game itself shifts up approximately 500px
so the bottom 100px are only visible in the top of the game (the rest is
black).
Although this problems are irritating and should be easily fixed this in no way
alters or distracts the user from the game as the problem can be very easily
sorted by setting WINE's global settings to run in an Emulated Virtual Desktop
at 800x600 (the game's native resolution). Problem temporarily solved.

Summary: Setting WINEPATH has no effect.
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.9
Platform: PC

Hi,
The following doesn't work as expected:
$ export WINEPATH="C:\dir"
$ printenv | grep WINEPATH # Check if it's in the shell's environment.
WINEPATH=C:\dir
$ wine ./environment.exe # E.g.: printf("PATH=%s", getenv("PATH"));
PATH=C:\windows\system32;C:\Windows
I expect that by defining WINEPATH it would get appended to PATH. I also expect
wine to search in WINEPATH folders to locate a command, e.g. "wine
compiler.exe".
Before filing this report I did some research into this, and apparently there
has been only one person so far who complained about this feature not working
anymore (http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-users/2006-August/023179.html).
I have also browsed the source code, and found the following identifiers that
should be of interest:
http://source.winehq.org/ident?i=__wine_main_environhttp://source.winehq.org/ident?i=build_initial_environment
I could help debugging this, but only if someone guided me through setting up
everything that is required to debug wine in a graphical and sane environment.

Terminal output error messages for Bejeweled Twist
After playing the game, you exit by clicking "Quit game" and "OK", then you get
an error message from Wine about the program encountering a serious problem and
needs to close etc. and Wine freezes after that.
Sorry, but you can't download the game. If anyone has the disc, the good news
is that the game runs properly in Wine until you exit.
I've been told by the Ubuntu forum guys to run troublesome programs in Wine
using the terminal. Having just worked out how to do that, I've copied and
pasted the lines of weird error messages from the terminal and put them into a
text file. I've attached it to this bug report. This is my first attempt at
attaching terminal output for Wine - I hope it helps.

Summary: Horizontal mirroring of images when printing from
Firefox in WINE
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.29
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: bugs(a)mgreg.com
ISSUE:
Images are mirrored horizontally when printing from Firefox (and likely other
apps) in WINE. As a test, I tried using CUPS-PDF to print the files and the
same thing occurs.
DETAILS:
Ubuntu 9.04
Wine 1.1.29
HP PSC 1110 All-In-One
Not sure if it's relevant to CUPS, but HPLIP 3.9.10 is installed
WORKAROUNDS:
None so far
NOTE: The installation of WINE is clean and there are no other apps from which
to print installed and test against.
NOTE: This bug may be related to Bug #5629

Winzip 11 crashes at startup and shows a dialog saying a "Internal Error

Unfortunately this old version of WinZip can't be found for download easily.
WinZip 12 (the newer version) doesn't even install, but that's another bug.
I THINK in a old wine version of Wine used to run. But it was a very old
version (prior to 1.0) and I'm not sure if the it would still be relevant.

CSS Crashing
Summary:
Counter-Strike Source Beta freezes after 30 seconds of internet gameplay on a
multi-core system. I have confirmed that on my hardware both a local game
server doesn't crash, and that if you limit cpus with maxcpus=1 it also doesn't
crash. Steps to reproduce each case below, and logs attached.
All crashers show the last line as:
err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x68cf0d00 "x11drv_main.c:
X11DRV_CritSection" wait timed out in thread 0029, blocked by 0009, retrying
(60 sec)
There are several other bugs with similar symptoms (search X11DRV_CritSection)
but this bug seems much more specific.
Need to be on similar hardware config:
I think it needs ATI Graphics, I have a Radeon HD 3870
I am almost positive it needs a multi core processor, I have aAMD Phenom(tm) II
X4 945 Processor
Steps to reproduce crash (css-crash.log):
1. Install Steam (likely with winetricks) and Counter Strike Source Beta
2. Run Counter Stroke Source
3. Join an internet game, (fully go to either spectate or play it doesn't
matter)
4. Wait 30 seconds. Hard crash of entire computer, even if windowed (still
accessible by ssh actually)
Steps to reproduce current workaround (css-working-one-core.log):
1. Restart machine with kernel option maxcpus=1
2. Join an internet game, (fully go to either spectate or play it doesn't
matter)
3. Enjoy the game crash free!
Steps to reproduce another crash free experience - no internet
game(css-localserver.log):
1. Restart machine with normal kernel options
2. Create a local server with bots
3. Enjoy the game crash free!

NVShaderPerf is an NVidia tool that runs on the console, and that is sadly
available only on Windows.
I've successfully used nvdxt (another, similar tool by nVidia) with wine 1.3.0,
and it runs perfectly fine.
But NVShaderPerf seems to require XML parsing in a way wine does not support
(or at least that seems to be the case according to console output).
Installation goes without a hitch, and after defining a comfy alias on my
.bashrc, I get the following attempting to even show the help:
username@host:~> nvshaderperf -v 2

No performance DLLs found, please reinstall
No performance plugins found, please reinstall NVShaderPerf
I checked the plugins.xml, and it's utf-16 encoded with a BOM mark. If it's
indeed an xml issue (something I can't confirm with the limited info I have at
hand), it must be an encoding thing (either being utf-16 or having a BOM),
because the xml's contents are rather simple:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-16"?>

Atari Trivial Pursuit Unhinged (plus the NoCD crack to workaround SecuRom copy

initialize" which appears to be a problem in dmusic or dmloader.
err:dmloader:IDirectMusicLoaderImpl_IDirectMusicLoader_SetObject : could not
attach stream to file
Using "winetricks directx9" removes this error, but creates another two errors
(something to do with DataPak) followed by an unhandled exception, apparently
caused by an Ogg Vorbis problem (there is an ogg.dll that comes with the app).
Disabling audio through winecfg brings back the "**MAIN - Audio device didn't
initialize" message.

After that I can login into my account, then select one of the available tables

Full discussion on the forum:

Basically, open Snuffler and load some data files (I have attached a data file
for testing purposes) - load the STP01Nov09.spr (within the ZIP archive) file
by going to the File Menu (within Snuffler), then clicking Open Project, and
then opening STP01Nov09.spr file. Double clicking on any item in the list on
the left of the screen will cause the rendering issue. Note the minimize,
maximize and close buttons aren't shown correctly, and items in the menu are
obscured (see my screenshot, snuffler-screen.png, within the attached .zip),
for what I get at this stage.
Note in my screenshot you will see "idebar" and "Linux" in the list. These are
from Firefox buttons - Firefox was running in the background when I took the
screenshot. It helps emphasize the problem.
This does not make the program crash, but it does stop some functionality
(specifically, I can't use the mouse to click on some of the items in the list
on the left of the screen if the dragging window resizing thingamajig (sorry, I
really don't know it's name!) is covering half of an item's name/label.
To explain... the vertical line immediately to the right of the list (which
separates the list and the grey area to the right of the screen) - if that line
is half way over an item's label in the list, I cannot click on that item in
the list with my mouse. I have to resize that vertical line to show the entire
list item before I can then use the mouse.

The demo of the game crashes on startup, without displaying anything.
Only native d3dx9_36.dll was installed to prevent an earlier crash due to some
unimplemented functions in the built-in dll.
It seems this game never started correctly in Wine. However I found out that
using Wine-1.1.0 and 1.1.1 the game doesn't crash instantly: I can hear the
sounds of the intros although the screen is pure black, and the game crashes
afterwards.
The demo is 0.95GB in size; I willingly provide further logs if someone is
interested.

I have installed Civ4 Complete from DVD and added all the required DLLs
mentioned in installation HOWTOs. The base Civ4 exe runs fine, but when I try
to run the firaxis Civ4Patch1.74_Final.exe, it runs InstallSheild and comes up
with a dialogue saying "The setup detected that no version of Sid Meier's
Civilization 4 is installed. This update requires that a previous version of
the application be installed."
I get essentially the same message for the Civ4WarlordsPatch2.13.exe.
The Civ4BeyondTheSwordPatch3.19.exe patch finds the app and runs the upgrade
just fine.

Follow the directions to get Caesar IV running here:
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10190#c14
Install dotnet20 with winetricks.
Install the game.
Replace d3dx9_30.dll and d3dx9_36.dll with native versions. I used winetricks
to install directx9 into a temporary wineprefix dir and then copied those files
over.
The game runs successfully but it does not render text. Instead there are
square yellowish boxes where the text should be.
Screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/fVmFT.jpg
I believe the issue is related to these two lines:
fixme:d3d:wined3d_get_format Can't find format unrecognized (0x36315220) in the
format lookup table
fixme:d3d:state_wrap (WINED3DRS_WRAP0) Texture wrapping not yet supported.
Some research leads me to understand that Texture wrapping isn't supported by
OpenGL and thus wine, but I was hoping there is a way to work around this bug,
or if I could be mistaken and it's unrelated to that.
I've tried various settings in the game's ini file but to no avail. I also
tried changing settings in the relevant .fx files, but nothing seemed to work,
other than me breaking different rendering aspects :D

The plugin for IrafanView, IrfanPaint, has given me trouble in keeping the
changes it has made applied to the original. In 4.25 I found that if you zoomed
to "Original Size" it would keep it's data (lines text, edits, etc.) when the
dialog was closed, but now in 4.27 (with the latest 4.13.67 Paint) , there is
nothing I can find to keep the changes. Even saving "in process" does not keep
the changes made to that point!
>From Developer of plugin:
"My educated guess on this fact is that Wine for DibSections uses a hybrid
approach: it creates a DIB a DDB (which probably is actually an X bitmap); the
work performed by the GDI methods is done on the DDB/X bitmap, which is
converted to DIB whenever the software tries to write on the DIB bits (I think
they use some kind of page protection method to do that).
So, when IrfanPaint just uses GDI methods to perform his work, the changes are
made just on the DDB and aren't mirrored on the DIB, thus causing the problem;
instead, when IP also writes directly on the DIB bits, before it does so the
changes done to the DDB are automatically mirrored on the DIB, so everything
works fine.
If things are like that, a quick workaround can be created to just make a "fake
write" on the DIB to force the update after each tool use. It would be quite a
small change and it should solve the problem.
Still, IMHO, to make such DIB/DDB system to work successfully they should have
set the update also on DIB read, maybe creating a "dirty flag" to avoid
unnecessary updates. "

I am playing Civilization V via Steam and in general it works really well. The
number one issue I am facing is the inability to download mods for the game.
When I mouse over the download button, the text "Cannot download because
Microsoft BITS has not been started." comes up. When I start the BITS service
via "wine net start bits" in another window and then stop and restart Civ and
try to download a mod, I still get the same message. When I stop the
wineserver entirely, start the BITS service as mentioned above, start Steam
from the command line in a different window than that of the BITS service, and
start Civ, I *still* get the same message.

describes another person's attempt to do the same thing.
Please let me know if there's more I can do to assist you guys in fixing this!
Thanks!

Following the Howto all seems works well but Dedicated server is just
responding to client by its name ... but do nothing else.
"When I started the server, the server looks okay and running, and I checked if
people could connect via "condor-club" "test server".
Condor-club told me it was connectable!!!
but.......... when I try connecting from a different windows computer, condor
just hangs."
