Hello,
the initial (RAS) problem is long gone so this bug is about main window state
not retained when popup windows are closed.
To reproduce just fill in some values, "connect" and cancel connection.
Close/minimize buttons are not be restored and the main window focus is gone.
Adjusting summary and filling fields.

Hello,
Wine uses DOSBox now to run 16 bit apps.
4dos runs fine in DOSBox so what's the point here?

Summary: Portal 2 crashes when player's model is observed via

Checked on only loadable without GLSL level - first one. If you are staying out
of portals, they are rendered ok, but as soon as you move so that character
model is visible though the portal, game crashes.
Backtrace is not leading into fglrx driver, so nvidia testing would be nice.

Testing with wine 1.3.17.
ratDVD produces output and doesn't crash, there is nothing in the wine console
output.
It decodes 99% of my test file, but it seems to be stuck in an infinite loop at
the end.
I can still press the Cancel button, but it is impossible to get the last few
seconds of the movie.
I will attach a log file with +relay,+snoop,+tid,+seh.

I need a little help here. I can't patch Wine 1.3 as it has a weird bug - HoMM1
screen displays only a upper-left quarter of the proper graphics scaled to full
screen. I wanted to apply it to Wine 1.2. Of course I had to modify a diff a
bit so let me provide the patch, it was applied to the version
1.2.2-1ubuntu1~maverick2 from ubuntu-wine PPA.
Now when I try to run wine, I get this:
$ WINEPREFIX="$HOME/.wine-homm1"

That's a CodeWeavers limitation of being sensitive to that kind of
consideration. It doesn't necessarily hold for Wine in general. In the general
case you just need to find someone who's willing to spend a couple of months
implementing this, either because that person really likes Sims 2 or because
code generation is interesting, and actually has a chance of getting the work
committed.

--- Comment #111 from Stefan Dösinger <stefandoesinger(a)gmx.at> 2011-04-26 07:21:41 CDT ---
We don't need SW emulation for fragment shaders. Windows doesn't offer that, at
least not in a way that it can be used for "productive" playing(there's the
refrast, but it is not a replacement for GPU fragment processing).
But still you want a fairly sophisticated solution for SW shaders that includes
generating x86 / x86_64 code. An interpreter will probably not give satisfying
performance, especially on older hardware where SW vp is intended to replace
missing GPU functionality. So LLVM sounds like a good idea. Integrating LLVM
into Wine is already a challenge.
The other challenge is integrating SW shaders into the existing wined3d
codebase in a clear way. The SW shader stuff should be a new shader backend,
and you'll have to make sure the shader input(Steam sources) are read properly.
The shader output(processed vertices) has to be passed to the opengl fixed
function pipeline. The gl pipeline has to be set up in a way that the processed
vertex data is passed through to the fragment pipeline properly, similarly to
how RHW vertices are treated now.
Wrt Microsoft Office & friends: Yeah, there are monetary incentives for that.
Lots of CodeWeavers customers use that app. Wrt WoW, the fixes are likely to
benefit other apps. Monetary incentives could help Sims 2 as well, but the
amount we're talking about would probably in the tens of thousands of dollars
given the amount of work needed for SW vertex processing.
