Summary: Bioshock 2 cannot pass release date check
Product: Wine

Terminal output for Bioshock 2 launcher -- release date check
Upon first launch Bioshock 2 will connect to the internet and attempt to
validate the release date. This gets stuck at 30% and never completes.
Sometimes it times out with an error.
I should note that some web searching shows this occurs sometimes on Windows as
well, and that there is a manual workaround if needed:
http://www.digitalworksweb.com/securomsupport/bioshock2_unlock_rc/
Looking at the terminal output points to some unimplemented information classes
in ntdll as the most likely culprit.

those won't prevent the wined3d texture from being released.

Hi -
Starting with 1.3.18, and persisting through 1.3.19, when I click on a window
in Eve (the game has windows that you can move around, like a window manager),
the mouse does not "let go", and acts like I'm holding down the button.
Normally, you can click-and-drag to adjust window sizes and placement in the
game. However, when I let go of the mouse button, the game does not notice.
1.3.17 is not affected.
Amd64, Gentoo 2.6.37-r1, Ati fglrx driver 11.4.
Thanks!

Summary: improper last error code set by GetUserNameW
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.20
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: advapi32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: kevin.hendricks(a)sympatico.ca
There is a small bug in the wine implementation of GetUserNameW (and the same
fix is needed in GetUserNameA to make it compatible with the needed change).
>From wine:
dlls/advapi32/advapi.c starting at line 92
if (len > *lpSize)
{
SetLastError(ERROR_MORE_DATA);
*lpSize = len;
return FALSE;
}
It seems the actual Window's implementation of GetUserNameW sets the last error
to 122 not 234 which maps to ERROR_INSUFFICIENT_BUFFER and not ERROR_MORE_DATA
when the buffer size to write the username to is too small.
This bug prevents the username from being properly read in all version of of
Kindle for PC when run under wine. The Kindle for PC code allocates a buffer
of 1 wchar and then calls GetUserNameW and upon error checks for the 122 error
code (insufficient buffer) and if needed doubles the buffer size in question
and tries again. It does not understand the 234 error code at all and so will
error out unable to read the user's username.
The K4PC code luckily ignores the improper last error code value and simply
replaces the username with the string "AlternateUserName" so the
KindleForPC.exe will actually still work under wine even though this bug
exists. The problem is that this bug actually changes how the DRM is created
on the ebook as the Kindle DRM is tied to both the user's username and the
volume serial number, making it impossible to post-process any ebook under
wine.
Please fix this routine (and GetUserNameA which uses it) to use the last error
code set to ERROR_INSUFFICIENT_BUFFER when the buffer size is too small to
match what the Window's code does in this case.

A simple program which crashes Wine but works on Windows.
The Wine MSVCRT _snprintf implementation is wrong; the simple test program to
be attached shortly is correct according to the docs from Microsoft, and works
fine on Windows, but under Wine (checked out recently from git), it crashes due
to heap corruption.

Around wine-1.1, MS-Word started to yield an annoying pop-up at opening files.
It reads "Do you want to revert to the saved '<filename>' ?"
Apparently either flags, or time/dates in the file system convince word that
immediately after opening a file the file in the directory is NEWER than the
just opened one.

See, for example, the type format string for ept_insert()'s 'entries' parameter
in dlls/rpcrt4/epm_c.c . The size of this array is the 'num_ents' parameter,
so the offset in the conformace discription should be 4 not 0 (which is
currently hardcoded). Also the lower nibble of the type byte should be
FC_ULONG rather than 0.

Pharaoh plus Cleopatra expansion pack doesn't recognize the /media/cdrom as the
D: drive, thus it keep asking for the game cd. Maybe it could be a copy
protection problem. The only way to work around is to download a No-CD patch
for it. The following patch works fine for me with the english copy of the
game:
http://m0001.gamecopyworld.com/games/pc_pharaoh.shtml#Kleopatra%20v1.0%20[G…
How to reproduce: Install the Pharaoh, install the Cleopatra expansion, mount
or put the game cd in the CD-Rom drive and try to run the game.

It's hard to fix because WCMD_delete() is complex, and when
it recurses, it smashes stuff into a new commandline without
quoting.
(dir /s doesn't seem to have the same problem?)

Under 1.3.19 Fallout 3 immediately hangs. Switching to another TTY works, and
when I switch back to the GUI all I see is black (from the application being in
fullscreen mode). I can Alt+Tab away from Fallout 3, though once Alt is
released the black screen returns (however keyboard input will affect the
window selected using Alt+Tab, you just can't see it). Killing the process
fixes everything again.
Wine also doesn't return anything to the terminal, when usually it returns a
load of fixmes. When I terminate Fallout3.exe I just get 'Segmentation fault'.
If I downgrade to 1.3.18 it works fine.

The implementation of d3dtypes.h shipped with wine defines operator() in
D3MATRIX as follows:
/* This is different from MS, but avoids anonymous structs. */
D3DVALUE &operator () (int r, int c)
{ return ((D3DVALUE [4][4])&_11)[r][c]; }
const D3DVALUE &operator() (int r, int c) const
{ return ((const D3DVALUE [4][4])&_11)[r][c]; }
Compiling a C++ winelib program which includes d3d.h using wineg++, without
-fpermissive and with D3D_OVERLOADS defined, results in a compile error, as
"/nemyax/apps/wine/1.3.12/include/wine/windows/d3dtypes.h:339: error: ISO C++
forbids casting to an array type ‘D3DVALUE [4][4]’".

This is not a driver bug, since native games and previous WINE versions were

Compared to running under Windows 7, Sim City 3000 Unlimited performs poorly
under Wine. Loading scenarios takes much longer, and there is a 1-2 second

The console repeats this message:

I am pleased to notice that you also have entries for "Fotostation" in the

The application's name should be Fotostation, not Fotosta

Hey guys :)
As I have seen in serveral forums and in the bugzilla here, there are many
programms which do not run without "ioctl 74080" support.
So I ask you if may someone could implement it. That would realy help me!
Its not a bug!!!!
I just ask to implement it to make my programms run:
E.g.:
Footballmanager 2009
Atlantica Online
...
Thanks for your attention :)
Greetings
P.s. For the reson, that the programms are going to crash without this
function, I will put the Severity to "Mayor" ... I hope thats ok! :)

Summary: Wine launcher redirect to DOSBox fails

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown

Hello.
I noticed that Wine now attempts to launch DOSBox for specific (.exe)
executable files if they aren't supported internally.
The problem? Well the Dosbox window will flash on screen for a moment, but then
just close out.
The following message is the one recieved if I use wine to launch the DOS exe
through a cli. ie - 'wineconsole *.exe'.
MIXER:Got different values from SDL: freq 44100, blocksize 940
ALSA:Can't subscribe to MIDI port (65:0) nor (17:0)
MIDI:Opened device:none
Simply launching the exact same executable though DOSBox yields no issues, but
it necessitates launching through the cli instead of double-clicking.

It's still far from complete ATM, and may not be for some time.
And Wine Weekly News have not been updated since Feb 2009. Volunteers are
welcome!
