Summary: graphics output broken starting from 1.1.43
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.43
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: winex11.drv
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: Hannes.Krueger(a)uibk.ac.at
Starting with Wine 1.1.43 the graphics in a commercial scientific software is
broken. The graphics widget usually contains a 3d view, not quite sure what
kind of widget is used here.
The problem is, that basically nothing is drawn inside the widget, however some
interaction with it, sometimes brings up parts of the content (sorry sounds
weird).
I did a regression test and found the following patch to be responsible.
Any ideas how to further investigate this issue?

get a backtrace (even if I disable the Wine crash dialogue).

The built-in iexplore.exe crashes when I try to open the Forums page on the
WineHQ homepage.
After crashing, the process iexplore.exe doesn't exit cleanly (hangs) so I had
to kill it by Ctrl+<C>.
To reproduce the issue:
1) create a new wineprefix, install gecko-1.2.0.
2) wine iexplore.exe. When the WineHQ page is loaded click on Forums.
Winetricks ie6 works around the problem.
Not sure about the component (probably mshtml).
My apologies if it has been already reported here, I couldn't find a match
while searching in existing bug reports.

Using the git version of Wine I noticed that certain games render textures
incorrectly when the main menu appears.
One example is Star Wolves: after starting the game the intro videos show only
black screen. When the videos end the menu appears but in a strange way: the
menu options are flashing and lots of characters pop up periodically (see
attached screenshot).
I see the same problem with the GTA games (Vice City, San Andreas, GTA III).
The problem exists in the current git version (wine-1.3.22-203-gac90c1b), too.

To reproduce the problem in Star Wolves demo:
1) Install the demo then launch it by StarWolves_demo.exe
2) You need to press <Esc> a couple of times to skip the videos (the screen is
black during video playback). When the main menu appears you should see the
garbage on the screen.

I came across this bug while using regedit.
Steps to reproduce:
1) Create a new wineprefix
2) wine regedit
3) In the left-side window select a registry key/hive (e.g. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT).
4) In the right-side window place the mouse pointer somewhere below the last
row (in the empty/white area). While left-mouse button is pressed, drag the
mouse upwards (as if you were selecting multiple rows). When the mouse cursor
reaches the last row Wine crashes.

At application start up, icons are painted normally, I load a map, icons are
painted normally too, but from this moment, icons will be transparents if they
need to be repainted (if I scroll for example).
