I see this failure from time to time, so it's not related.

Confirming that this is still an issue on wine-1.3.28, and that wine was
deleting the LSANS.fot file - assigning the original .ttf to root so Wine
couldn't delete it made it work.
It was saying:
fixme:font:CreateScalableFontResourceW (0,L"LSANS.fot",L"C:\\Program
Files\\Infogrames Interactive\\Civilization III\\Conquests\\LSANS.TTF",(null)):
stub

Louis Lenders is working in a patch that might be useful for this.

Bruno, lets try with "+all" log.
I've tried looking at the log in comment 10 , but after decompressing it the
data after line #50195 seems to contains ~41 megs of zeros (while the total log
is ~50 megs). Even vim chokes on that=)
Hopefully new log will be easier to read.

Created an attachment (id=36413)
--> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=36413)
Console log with +ddraw,+tid
Problem still exists in wine-1.3.28 with roughly the same trace as above, I've
attached an up dated version if it matters.

Tested full game in 1.3.28 (today's git), the output seems similar to wine
1.3.10 in comment #13, last lines before application quit:
fixme:d3d:wined3d_device_decref Device released with resources still bound,
acceptable but unexpected.
fixme:d3d:wined3d_device_decref Leftover resource 0x1d5dc0 with type
WINED3DRTYPE_SURFACE (0x1).
What debug log can be useful?
