I'm running ApexDC++ 1.2.1 using playonlinux script (wine 1.1.27).
I'm facing problem, that after some time I allways get exception attached
(attached screenshot as well as full log txt).
I've already identified that I get this one immediatelly when trying to connect
to following hub:
name: BEST of all hubs :::CZech republic::: (dc.bestofallhub.com:1128)
address: dc.bestofallhub.com:1441
(only 1.st connection during one application run causes exception)
This is the last message written by this hub when connecting:
[20:49:42] <[Bot]Security> Please stand by while loading the user list...
but user list never loads, I just get this exception.
would be great to have it running seamlessly.
help appreciated.

New portal expanding, antialiasing enabled
Kubuntu 11.04 x86_64 running Wine 1.3.18 from wine ppa (plus winepulse
patches). Portal 2 was downloaded via Steam and then patched with the fixed
SKIDROW crack. Videocard is an Nvidia GeForce 580 running the proprietary
270.41.06 driver from natty restricted.
When creating a new portal, a completely black form of a portal is allocated on
the target surface. In the middle of this, the actual portal opening animation
starts, which will expand and and eventually fill the allocated black space.
This only happens with antialiasing enabled. With it disabled, there is a form
of warping effect which doesn't seem to work alongside antialiasing.
In the terminal, one line is constantly spammed;

I have the 4 cd version of the computer game blade runner. I could begin the
installation on with the first cd, but when prompted for the second cd, the
second cd would not mount (wine eject also did not work).
The game can still be installed with the following workaround:
Step 1: Copy the contents of each cd into separate folders on your computer.
Step 2: In each folder create the files ".windows-label" and ".windows-serial".
Step 3: In each ".windows-label" place the label of the cd, and in each
".windows-serial" place the serial. These can be found by placing the original
cd's into your computer, opening the "Drives" tab in "winecfg", highlighting
your cdrom drive and clicking on "Advanced". In my case they were as follows:
Label:BLADE_1 Serial:4B0CBE77
Label:BLADE_2 Serial:27F3C001
Label:BLADE_3 Serial:C8F1AFEF
Label:BLADE_4 Serial:E9261E6
Step 4: Create a new folder, lets call it "Install", open up the "Drives" tab
in "winecfg", and set this folder as a new drive. Click on "Advanced" and make
sure "CD-ROM" is checked, not "Autodetect".
Step 5: Copy the contents of the first cd into the "Install" folder, including
the ".windows-label" and ".windows-serial" files.
Step 6: Start the installation from the "Install" folder.
Step 7: When prompted for the second cd, move the contents of the first cd out
of the "Install" folder, and move the contents of the second cd in.
Step 8: Continue with the installation.
Step 9: Repeat with cd's 3 and 4.
Step 10: Enjoy the game :).

I am running Portable Apps Version 1.6 of Thunderbird Version 3.0.3 Initially
upon launch it seems to work fine. But after I use it to read several emails,
the display of part of the email and/or the display of the text in menus or
buttons of Thunderbird begin to disappear and not be rendered properly. This
seems to affect only certain subsections of Thunderbird at a time. For example
when reading an email that has been forwarded, replied to, or part of a mail
list thread, then only the previous replies, or the new added content of the
email is affected and does not show up. For menus perhaps only the submenus may
not show up, leaving just the major headers.. or perhaps the tool bar buttons
text will disappear.
It seems odd that not all the text in an email, or menus/buttons will disappear
but that is what is happening and it is hard to describe.

Summary: Starcraft 2 - DirectX Mouse Capture broken (fullscreen

Product: Wine

OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: mizzao(a)gmail.com
When playing starcraft 2, mouse capture seems to be broken in both windowed and
fullscreen mode. Mouse capture is important in SC2 because moving the mouse to
the border scrolls the screen. This seems to stem from two separate problems.
Windowed mode: Since SC2 gives you more relative viewing area when running in
widescreen mode, I tried running in a widescreen window in my fullscreen
monitor. However, I can't get the mouse to stay inside the screen while
playing, either with the default mouse capture setting, or setting wine to
emulate a virtual desktop and using fullscreen mode in SC2.
Fullscreen mode: When using dual-head mode (Twinview on nvidia), and playing
SC2 at the native resolution of one of my monitors, the mouse doesn't stay on
that monitor. It still jumps over to the other monitor, whichever side it's
attached to. This is annoying, but not as bad as the first case, since the
mouse is captured on 3 sides.)
The mouse works fine when running in one monitor in fullscreen mode, which is
the only way to play at the moment.
To reproduce: run SC2 in windowed mode, or in fullscreen mode with emulate
virtual desktop, or fullscreen mode with multiple monitors. Might be problem
with the DirectInput emulation but I specified unknown since I'm not sure.

I have some problems running Guildwar with fglrx 9.8 under Arch 64.
Actually the game installs/startup perfectly.
But get some odd texture corruptions. The corruption is noticable if you stand
in a long distance from the texture.
I attached a screenshot, where you see the distortion within the red markings,
and the same kind of texture (closer), without distortion in the green marking.
Actually the first time i load the game, there aren't any distortion. But when
I jump to another place within the game, the distortion starts to appear. It
seems like memory problems?
I got these setting in my user.reg file:
[Software\\Wine\\Direct3D]
"DirectDrawRenderer"="opengl"
"MaxFragmentUniforms"="1024"
"MaxVaryings"="52"
"MaxVertexUniforms"="1024"
"OffscreenRenderingMode"="fbo"
"PixelShaderMode"="enabled"
"UseGLSL"="disabled"
"VertexShaderMode"="hardware"
"VideoMemorySize"="1024"
I have tried with/without UseGLSL enabled, and backbuffer instead of fbo.
pbuffer crash the game. Every settings gave the same corruptions.
I am willing to patch wine for getting this to work proberly.
Thx for your help.

WoW's Patch 4.2 yesterday, wine "hangs". Please see attachment. After
Launcher starts up, you click "Play" to start the game. The Launcher window

I have already "regression tested". The attached log was generated with git

TREPCAD3 St3 doesn't have a 'close' window control (the small x) any more.
Alt-F4 works. The control used to be there until recently.
The app can be used in two ways: as a plugin to MegaCAD and as a standalone
app. When used standalone, it doesn't have a menu bar (so, no 'File->Quit').
But it always has the 'x' to close (on real Windows and on Wine before the
regression).
I ran a regression test and the bad commit is:
commit e35e75b4bf5db54cd6cda0c95dc8c9e14c1fccfb
(winex11.drv: Do not allow WM actions for windows with WS_DISABLED style set)
Ping me which logs you need to investigate. Plain console log isn't that
useful, I suppose.

lowering it at install time
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.21
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: scott(a)open-vote.org
Background:
In order to work around the mmap_min_addr setting introduced a while back that
breaks Wine, many Wine packages now install conf files to /etc/sysctl.d/ that
disable mmap_min_addr entirely. This reduces security of the system, as any
kernel null pointer dereference bug can root the machine. One such bug was
found to be open for 8 years.
This launchpad bug gives hints at what we need to do to implement this within
Wine properly.
----
>From Launchpad:
I would like to see wine and dosemu using filesystem capabilties to temporarily
grant themselves CAP_SYS_RAWIO during start up to map the memory below
mmap_min_addr, instead of requiring that the entire running system have their
mmap_min_addr lowered.
Implementing this would involve two halves: setting up the filesystem
capabilities when the package installed (postinst most likely), and dropping
the capability once the program had allocated memory.
Here is a quick example of how to mark an executable with a capability:
http://www.friedhoff.org/posixfilecaps.html#Examples%20-%20Substitution%20o…
They use numeric values, but it may be more readable to use text version:
sudo setcap cap_sys_rawio=ep low-mmap
(setcap is in libcap2-bin)
Part 2 involves dropping the capability:
http://git.0pointer.de/?p=pulseaudio.git;a=blob;f=src/daemon/caps.c;hb=86de…
the pa_drop_caps and shows how to drop capabilities, and pa_have_caps shows how
to test for a specific capability. (In the example's case, CAP_SYS_NICE.)
(sorry, lost some context for my setcap paste: "low-mmap" is the program I was
setting capabilities on. "cap_sys_rawio" is the textual version of the
capabilities.)

I used Wine version 1.1.29 to launch the freeware Stepmania DDR game,
and I noticed that when a KDE based alert appears, it would usually never
disappear like it normally does when the wine program is not in use. Instead,
the alert stays on forever, and the game locks up. The only way out is to force
a power down of the computer and to turn it back on. Sometimes, this results in
the data loss on the FAT32 partition the game is on.
Such KDE alerts are as follows:
-- a large bubble identifying the program the arrow is pointing at in the
taskbar
-- a bubble in kopete messenger indicating the message the sender is sending
-- a box from kopete indicating one's online status.
I have tried this using "windows vista" and then using "windows xp" in
"application settings" of the wine control panel.

Summary: WinUAE graphics trashed/corrupted, regression between
1.3.15 and 1.3.28?

Hi,
[I set the component of this bug to directx-d3d, but I'm not certain that's
correct.]
WinUAE is an open-source Amiga emulator. I tested WinUAE version 2.3.3 in Wine.
The test system was running Lubuntu 11.10 x86-64 with Nvidia graphics driver
version 285.
There has been a regression, probably some time between 1.3.15 and 1.3.28. (I
don't recall seeing this issue with Wine 1.3.15 in Xubuntu 9.10 32-bit.)
First test, using Wine 1.2.3. This works correctly:
- Download and run the WinUAE installer.
- Run winuae.exe
- Click OK at the dialog box about system ROMs.
- The WinUAE Properties window appears. Click Start.
- The emulation window opens. It shows shades of grey for several seconds,
then "No bootable media found..." text. There's a red mouse pointer which you
can move.
Second test, running Wine 1.3.28:
- First four steps as above.
- The emulation window opens. There is just graphical trash/garbage in it. The
window contents are static, and don't have any relation to the graphics which
should be there.
Testing with Wine 1.3.34 shows the same problem as 1.3.28.
There's little difference in console output testing with 1.3.28 vs 1.2.3. There
was this line in the 1.3.28 output:
fixme:d3d:swapchain_init Add OpenGL context recreation support to
context_validate_onscreen_formats
However I've seen similar lines with other programs before when there was no
corruption.

Nvidia's 270.xx.yy driver series fix the glMapBuffer alignment
issues that caused major
performance problems. If the user is using an older driver we now
drop the VBO instead of using
doublebuffered loading, which means that we fall back to the current
behavior(no dynamic VBO) as
needed. Dynamic VBOs are needed on Nvidia drivers for
GL_ARB_instanced_arrays.

Summary: Earth Eternal cannot connect, creates flood of DNS
requests
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.31
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: winsock
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: ramon.cahenzli(a)gmail.com
Earth Eternal is an online game by Sparkplay Media with an AppDB entry here:
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=18115
The game is usually started with a parameter telling it where to find its
resources. The parameter takes the form of a URL.
The current standard URL is used here:
wine Spark.exe
"http://static.beta.eartheternal.com/Release/Current/EarthEternal.car"
However, if this is done in WINE, Earth Eternal floods WINE with
gethostbyname() calls (500 calls per second on my machine). The calls all
return the correct IP address, I've verified this by adding some ugly trace
code to dlls/ws2_32/socket.c. Since Earth Eternal is closed source, we cannot
find out whether the result of the gethostbyname() call is used correctly or
whether that loop of gethostbyname() calls is a bug.
We are now trying to disassemble the binary to find out.
It seems the game might work otherwise, it has a simple 3D renderer built in a
popular engine (OGRE), and there are a few OGRE-based games that already work
in WINE.
There is a workaround to at least partially get EE to connect and retrieve its
data files. If started like this:
wine Spark.exe "http://208.71.157.18/Release/Current/EarthEternal.car"
The date files are fetched and installed. Connection still fails at the login
screen, though, because the program then proceeds to establish *all*
connections with 208.71.157.18 instead of using the respective servers (login,
static content and routing servers).
Some details of this bug are discussed here:

After upgrading from 1.3.37 to 1.4-rc1, Steam is unable to launch a game. This
occurs in both my normal prefix and a new prefix that I created. When trying
to launch a game, Steam displays the normal dialog showing that it is launching
the game, but then the dialog disappears and nothing happens. This is on
Debian wheezy AMD64 built with gcc 4.6.2-4.
This is the output to the console when trying to launch Team Fortress 2:
