Downgrade of nvidia did not resolve issue, downgrade of wine fixed issue. I have not tested on any other 3d games under wine at this point. Thus the exchange through port goes normally. After closing COM of port loading on CPU falls down. See WINEDEBUG = " + comm " log in attach. It installs fine and the first page works, but later pages are unbearably slow. To reproduce, run the app, click Start, click "Fortfahren", then choose page 2 along the bottom. The page take a long time (30 seconds) to come up. Then try dragging one of the word tiles around with the mouse. It's supposed to move easily, but it's extremely jerky. There are lots of lines like fixme:mlang:fnIMLangFontLink_GetStrCodePages (pszSrc=L"skredit", cchSrc=7, dwPriorityCodePages=1073742335) stub in the log; it seems to call that function once for each char in every string. (But WINEDEBUG=-mlang didn't really help.) The program I was running is also currently under non-disclosure, but I don't believe the program itself to be at fault, as I can run it fine under emulation or by booting into Windows. Anyway, the program in question is an MMO similar to WoW, with an auto-download/patcher tool. Having completed download, it should be able to simply display play options, however, it instead hangs unexpectedly. More unusually, WINE will then proceed to engage in extreme CPU utilisation; my particular machine is 8-cores, but WINE was being reported with an over 1200% utilisation! I've no idea what it was doing, however, since I wasn't sure what to do used Mac OS X's spindump Terminal command to capture a stack trace, which may hopefully shed some light on the issue. If there is a more specific test that I can perform, then please do let me know and I'll gladly perform it! The attached spindump has the application name [redacted], if the issue still exists after release I'll return with an updated log and information. Anyway, hopefully analysis of the spindump gives some clues as to the cause of the lockup/high CPU utilisation.
