The initial load of the setup appears to work correctly (although taking a very long time). The error reporting to Microsoft was enabled. Accepting licence terms worked. Some time before that the log reports that checking OSVersion and OSServicePack returned result 87 (0x57), which leads me to believe that these messages are related.
