Workaround, winetricks wininet (bug 26725). The exe runs briefly and silently exits. Steam doesn't provide the typical "Preparing to launch Ace of Spades..." window. I am able to start the Drakensang demo with the "patch" suggested in bug #14758. I see a loading screen with a progress bar. When the bar is full, the game crashes and shows a dialog box (screenshot attached together with wine output). I am using Debian GNU/Linux unstable, Linux kernel version 2.6.26-1-amd64 (Debian package) on x86_64 with the Git version of Wine (wine-1.1.2-406-ge1e6caf).
