Resetting the game's graphics settings (e.g. by changing any video setting - quality, AA, etc. - in options and clicking "Apply", or by using the "gfx_recreate" console command) returns the performance back to normal, until the next drop occurs. Tested on Gentoo, wine 1.7.47 (there's no ebuild for 1.7.48 in Gentoo yet), wine-staging 1.7.47, wine 1.7.21 (since that one is reported as working on AppDB), behaviour is the same.
