When the desktop Launcher for ACDSee is clicked, it appears to start, and shows
the 'starting ACDSee' icon in the bar as screen bottom, then abruptly stops. No
error messages are shown.

It would be good if someone could test this with more recent wine, since the
last effort has been done 3 years ago.

I just shortly tried the demo with both wine-git and wine-staging 1.9.6 and
Both have the same behaviour that the demo doesnt seem to start, but If I
alt+tab few times I am able to enter the game menu. Maybe I just don't wait
enough? I don't have the full game to test.

Yes (though I'm not certain they are in bitmap format, but that's likely).

Correct. Older games do not embed their own, e.g., see

I seem to recall some older version of windows sharing cards between Freecell
and Solitare, but I can't verify that now.
