When you press OK to the dialog box, the application is either completely confused and unusable, or it immediately crashes with 2 more dialog boxes about Access violation in mozjs.dll for read of an address, and the general wine "Serious problem" box. The crash happens completely reproducibly if you just let the application wait at the Welcome window after login and don't touch it. "Unfortunately" (from a debugging point of view) the bug does _not_ appear when BridgeCentral 2.2.3 uses only a local database, without any Firebird TCP connection. Apparently, spammers can't be stopped by keywords listed in the stop list http://wiki.winehq.org/LocalBadContent, and that's another problem. However what is still missing menubar integration. I don't know if this ever was planed, however I think this is one of the most logical progression for wine on OS X. I'm posting this now because I just came across a windows tool which does exactly that. While there were always attempts to theme windows like OS X and emulating the global menubar now someone found a way to do just that (http://lee-soft.com/el-capitan-menubar-for-windows/). So as it's possible to extract windows applications' menus it might be possible to integrate them into OS X's menubar as GTK and Java can inject menus there, too. I've logged the entire run from start to the hang. Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0xffffffff in 32-bit code (0x7 deff986). (That may not be related to this message anyway for all I know.) This doesn't happen in WinXP/Vista/2k mode. Things are slightly better when using a version of gdiplus from windows (see second screenshot). While photoshop cs3 is not easy to install currently (there is a bug that prevents the setup from installing), there are workarounds to get the setup going so it might be time to start fixing photoshop itself. Note: I was able to install it using "winetricks msxml6 gecko vcrun2005 ie6" and the attached patch (forward ported from the patch offered on http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18070) applied to 47ec8ab0f3fcd66e0a9b8000b0826066a7bdca8a. Since the release wine-staging 2.0, diablo 3 is able to start in the 64bit mode, which utilizes d3d11 for rendering (Thanks!). It is not without issues, yet, though. Namely, the performance is really bad, on my machine (core i5, GTX 770) it renders about 3 frames per second (whereas the 32bit version runs with >60 FPS). The rendering is not without issues, too. Characters look matte and dark, very different look from the one one sees in the 32bit client. The sluggishness/slowdown itself may not be a Wine bug since is not a problem when I switch NVIDIA PowerMizer from its default "Adaptive" to "Prefer Maximum Performance". That, however, is not an acceptable permanent solution on a laptop. Sync to VBlank settings do not change the behavior. So far I have only been able to observe the slowdown when running the game in Direct3D mode, although the frame rate is now also unlimited when running in DirectDraw mode. Press Start. Wait for scan to progress. Scan normally fails within seconds with "no access to memory location" error (stack trace relating to C# XML reader attached). The problem only intermittently occurs on smaller XML dump files (e.g. < 100 MB uncompressed) but always occurs on large XML files. Above process works without error under Mono version 4 on same machine (using 50 GB English wikipedia XML dump file) and of course on native Windows. Possible further information/speculation: I have written a simple single threaded console only .NET 2 exe that works under same wine setup without this error on same machine. Fortunately enough, the game's options menu is visible enough so that I can get the gem to go into windowed mode, set it to full screen and play the game. This causes the letters to be not completely visible. Also see the attached screenshot.
