When wineconsole is started, it shows white boxes instead of font. Log with WINEDEBUG=+wineconsole attached. This code is from 2002: programs/wineconsole/user.c : line 442 /* FIXME: * the current freetype engine (at least 2.0.x with x <= 8) and its implementation * in Wine don't return adequate values for fixed fonts * In Windows, those fonts are expected to return the same value for * - the average width * - the largest width * - the width of all characters in the font * This isn't true in Wine. As a temporary workaround, we get as the width of the * cell, the width of the first character in the font, after checking that all * characters in the font have the same width (I hear paranoia coming) * when this gets fixed, the code should be using tm.tmAveCharWidth * or tm.tmMaxCharWidth as the cell width. */ I tried comment font checking, then output is better, but font isn't fixed-width (still smaller issue than white boxes instead of font). Need to mount / with another drive letter and then run the dos app in that folder. The installation required mono-complete and libwine-gecko-1.4 packages to be installed first. Although the installation went fine, and menus and buttons worked OK, the application complained of no connections available thru both the Connection Wizard and Connection Manager. I ran the app from the command line and redirected the shell output to the file Log.txt. When printing should take place, the following messages are printed to console: fixme:psdrv:PSDRV_GetDeviceCaps (0x1f5c): unsupported capability 1, will return 0 fixme:psdrv:PSDRV_GetDeviceCaps (0x1f5c): unsupported capability 3, will return 0 ... (capability numbers go from 1 to 31). The coupon boarders, expiration date, and scissors icon print, but the internals of the coupon are blank (bar codes, images, etc). For example, when in Workbench the right Windows key on my keyboard and N should let me create a new drawer (directory) but as soon as I press the Windows key I get the start menu appear and the N is ignored. To reproduce hover mouse pointer above File menu (top left corner) button after Powerpoint has been running for a few seconds. The whole PC becomes non-responsive and a hard reset is required to recover. After an upgrading the to kernel 4.2 and same wine 1.6 the Photoshop stopped during the program load! Now, some upgrades later, with Xenial and kernel 4.4.8 and wine 1.9.9 the Photoshop load a little more during the opening but froze! I made several tries winecfg XP and Win7. Any solution in horizon? These are partially covered by the wine title bar when not in full screen. When in full screen, the tabs and the menu button are almost complete covered.
