how it looks in wine
In a modal window, buttons at the bottom can't be pressed with mouse
(presumably due to tabbed control are reaching too far down). But if focused
with tab, pressing with enter or space works fine.
This is a recurrence of https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8522. I'm not
sure if it's ever been fixed.

While experimenting with a CodeSonar plugin we develop, we noticed a
potential bug in file "wine/dlls/comctl32/comboex.c" line 1033 function
COMBOEX_Create
SetWindowSubclass(infoPtr->hwndEdit, COMBOEX_EditWndProc, EDIT_SUBCLASSID,
(DWORD_PTR)hwnd);
infoPtr->font = (HFONT)SendMessageW(infoPtr->hwndCombo /*HERE*/, WM_GETFONT, 0,
0);
Shouldn't you access infoPtr->hwndEdit (instead of infoPtr->hwndCombo) at the
mentioned position in the second line?
Thanks,

To see the bug, open regedit drag the bar that separates registry tree from
values so that it partly covers registry branches names. If you use native
comctl32.dll or in windows you'll see tooltips over these partly covered items,
displaying full item name. Wine won't show anything.
This is true with listview also.
In some applications that have big listview tables with long values this bug
becomes pretty annoying (when you constantly have to change comlumn widths etc
in order to see complete values).
Maybe this bug was reported earlier, but I have not found it.

Summary: Tanner L-Edit shows blank hotkey field
Product: Wine
Version: 1.4
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: comctl32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dank(a)kegel.com
Classification: Unclassified
Tanner's L-Edit uses the msctls_hotkey32 control from comctl32
in its Setup / Application / Keyboard dialog, but under Wine,
the control is always blank. It should say 'None' (or the local equivalent)
initially. (The caret is positioned properly, though.)
'winetricks comctl32' works around the problem.
Wine's control works fine in a standalone demo.
The problem exists in many versions of the app, including the 7.12
Student Version downloadable from various sites as ledit.zip,
2972402 bytes, sha1sum f1a5825e63cee03f2cfb912cfa8d47c5a22aa684
That version requires 'winetricks mfc42' to start, and warns
about wanting 256 color mode. Using Xephyr to get 256 color mode
doesn't seem to help.

The problem can be seen in the attached video: headers on the first tab are
first displayed correctly (and are clickable), then they get overdrawn slowly
which makes them non-clickable. Usually, the second tab does not have this
problem, and some actions trigger the header buttons to be redrawn, but they
get overdrawn again at once. I tried to nail down the problem by vastly
expanding RelayExclude to the 500 topmost function calls, an excerpt of the
resulting log is also attached. No fixmes or warnings come up.

I note that Winscp (winscp.org) is able to display TortoiseSVN menus in the
local file window when running under Windows, but not when running under wine.
Here is how I invoke winscp under wine:
WINEDEBUG=fixme-all wine "c:/program files/winscp/winscp"
Background:
WinSCP is a very nice GUI front end for Subversion (svn). You can read about
it and download it here: http://tortoisesvn.tigris.org/
TortoiseSVN should not be run across a network when the Icon Overlays feature
is enabled.
http://tortoisesvn.net/node/138http://tortoisesvn.net/node/267
However, TortoiseSVN's icon overlay feature is one of the program's major
assets.
I want to use Cygwin's xterm to connect to the samba server that holds the svn
checkout directory and use Wine to run TortoiseSVN locally on that server. The
user would be presented with a nice visual representation of the state of their
checked out Subversion project, and performance would be good.
On Windows, TortoiseSVN can display its icons in any file chooser window, and
in Windows Explorer. I have also found that WinSCP's explorer view will show
icons for the local machine.
I would prefer not to have to run WinSCP in order to view TortoiseSVN icons.
Perhaps a tiny Win32 program that merely shows a file dialog would be
sufficient to run in an xterm, if Wine would support whatever system calls
TortoiseSVN makes.
For me, and many other programmers and IT personnel who work in a mixed
Windows/Linux environment, Wine would be much more useful if there was a way to
run it under Wine. Might it be possible to extend winefile with whatever it
currently lacks in order to allow TortoiseSVN to run?

Installing MSYS after MinGW on windows sets things up so that the existing
MinGW install integrates with MSYS, whereby /mingw from the MSYS shell points
to the MinGW install.
First download:
wget
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/mingw/MinGW-5.1.4.exe?modtime=1209244789&b…
run MinGW-5.1.4.exe with all defaults.
Second download:
wget
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/mingw/MSYS-1.0.10.exe?modtime=1079444447&b…
run wineconsole cmd (required because Wine doesn't launch a console window like
windows does)
MSYS-1.0.10.exe
Answer the defaults to the prompted questions on the console window before the
installer finishes (it pauses there)
wine cmd /c c:\msys\1.0\msys.bat
Typing 'gcc' in the msys terminal echos "sh: gcc: command not found", whereas
on windows it says gcc.exe: no input files.
On windows within msys, `ls /mingw` lists the contents of C:\mingw, on Wine
/mingw is empty.

Currently, Wine on Linux is strongly dependent on X, and when used with the
desktop environment with new Wayland display server, Wine is forced to run
through XWayland, which so far remains a poor experience.
The whole Linux desktop is now strongly pushing the switch from X to Wayland,
and many major applications are now in the process of enabling this switch.
Is there some plan for such effort in Wine? Is it even feasible? I couldn't
find any bugs opened for it, so I'm opening one here to track this.

Sample program that demonstrates bug (source)
I'm using a dummy scroll (as in
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/oldnewthing/archive/2003/07/31/54601.aspx) to update
the scrollbars in my custom Windows control when necessary. In my test program,
this happens before the window is shown for the first time, and in wine, my
error checking code triggers because the ScrollWindowEx() call fails with
ERROR. This does not happen on real Windows; it instead returns NULLREGION.
The attached program creates several configurations that attempt to reproduce
this issue under different circumstances. On wine, I get
ScrollWindowEx() before ShowWindow(nCmdShow): ERROR
ScrollWindowEx() after ShowWindow(nCmdShow) and ShowWindow(SW_HIDE): ERROR
ScrollWindowEx() after only ShowWindow(nCmdShow): SIMPLEREGION
On Windows XP 32-bit, Windows 7 32-bit, and Windows 7 64-bit, I get
ScrollWindowEx() before ShowWindow(nCmdShow): NULLREGION
ScrollWindowEx() after ShowWindow(nCmdShow) and ShowWindow(SW_HIDE): NULLREGION
ScrollWindowEx() after only ShowWindow(nCmdShow): SIMPLEREGION
I can't find anything pointing to this use of ScrollWindowEx() being wrong... I
also do not know if any other scroll functions are equally affected.
I am running wine-1.7.28 from the Wine PPA on Ubuntu GNOME 14.10.
Thanks.

This is a long standing issue that occurs using the Compiz window manager.
Easy enough to trigger.
1. Open table and be seated
2. Change workspace so you can no longer see the table, and wait for the
application to alert you that its your turn.
3. Return to the workspace the table is supposed to be on and you will find it
has disappeared.
The application is definitely still running, and the table window is definitely
still active (you can here the alert sounds and cards being dealt)

but if you play badly and lose, the game over dialog that pops up
is not drawn properly. I'll attach a saved game; to reproduce
the problem, load the saved game (File / Load), then click on
the two "3" tiles. The game over dialog will pop up.

Summary: LVM_SUBITEMHITTEST fails on Chinese and Japanese

Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: comctl32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: austin.lund(a)gmail.com
In the test_hittest function for the listview test the following test fails for
the Chinese and Japanese versions on the test bot:
/* subitem returned with -1 item too */
x = pos.x + 150;
y = -10;
test_lvm_subitemhittest(hwnd, x, y, -1, 1, LVHT_NOWHERE, FALSE, FALSE, FALSE);
The failures read:
listview.c:3056: Test failed: Expected -1 retval, got -2
listview.c:3056: Test failed: Expected -1 item, got -2
listview.c:3056: Test failed: Expected flags 0x1, got 0x4
This basically says that the message returned -2 (undocumented ?) and set the
flags to LVHT_ONITEMLABEL.
Is y = -10 relative to the control client area or the parent window? How can
you be on the item label in either case? Should the above values be added as
successes to this test?

A listbox widget in Wine does not react the same way to keyboard input as in
Windows.
In Windows, you can type the first characters of a word and the cursor will
jump to the first item matching *all* the characters you typed. This allows you
to drill down quickly to the item you want.
In Wine, when you start typing it only considers the *last* character you typed
when looking for a match. On listboxes where you have lots of items starting
with the same character, this can make it problematic to drill down to the
correct item.
This may be better explained with a simple example. Suppose you have a listbox
with the following items, sorted alphabetically:
* AMBER
* BLUE
* BROWN
* GREEN
* ORANGE
* RED
* YELLOW
Windows behavior:
* if you type "B", it will drill down to "BLUE"
* if you type "BR", it will drill down to "BROWN"
* if you type "BRO", it will drill down to "BROWN"
Wine behavior:
* if you type "B", it will drill down to "BLUE"
* if you type "BR", it will drill down to "RED"
* if you type "BRO", it will drill down to "ORANGE"

reaction at all. Mouse acts normal, I can use the menus and copy/paste text
anyway.
Clicking out of the window and into again (getting focus again) and the
keyboard is alive again.
There seems to be a pattern depending on the field, some trigger the problem
each time I leave them with TAB, some never do.
After reading a lot of bug reports, I tried "virtual desktop" on/off, "allow
window manager" on/off, no changes at all.
I tried [HKCU\software\Wine\X11 Driver] UseTakeFocus="yes" without changes.

Wine builtin 'tasklist' and 'findstr' are stub apps that return exit code 0 -
regardless what was passed in (because they do nothing as of now).
This gets propagated through cmd.exe exit code to caller (GetExitCodeProcess).
cmd.exe -> 0
findstr.exe -> 0
tasklist.exe -> 0
The problem is that Windows 'findstr' uses inverted logic.
Match -> exit code = 0
No match -> exit code = 1
Wine 'findstr' always returns 0 hence the installer takes this a process list
match and complains.

It shouldn't be too hard to implement a minimal string/pattern matching.
Another way is to change the default behaviour to "no match" (return 1).
I'm not sure if it breaks apps that currently depend on stub "match" behaviour.

It would be nice if wine had .desktop shortcut files for "winecfg" and "wine
uninstaller". These two are the most useful applications bundled with wine.
This way users will know about them.
Ubuntu has this by default and they are placed in the wine menu.
Also, a default icon for wine would be nice (placed in /usr/share/icons or
/usr/share/pixmaps).

This bug shows up with IsoBuster 3.0.
Download and run the IsoBuster installer. Run IsoBuster. Choose File->Open
Image File and load an ISO image (or I guess you could select the disc in the
DVD drive). Try to choose an image file which contains quite a few directories,
subdirectories and files.
Use the treeview on the left side to browse the directory hierarchy. If you
click on various entries, notice that after a few clicks the treeview is reset
to the all-collapsed state. That happens with both built-in and native
comctl32. There's no console output when the treeview resets.
(There's also an access violation dialog on quitting the program, but that's
probably not related.)

When trying to play Sengoku Rance with the latest patches (english patched
version) everything is extremly slow.
Sengoku Rance uses the Alisesoft System4.0 Ver1.3 engine.
I installed it with a clean wine prefix,googled like hell for help and tested
it on two laptops each with the newest wine version on Arch:
1.6ghz dual core with ati hd 6320 (with the ati driver from git)
2.5 ghz dual core with geforce 9300gs (with nouveau from git)
This is an old game using directx 6.
Running the game itself from the console gives no output whatsoever.
And everything after and including the main menu runs at roughly a third of the
speed.

LoadImage with option LR_SHARED and specified resolution(eg 32x32) does loading
only that icon resolution, skipping others. Next time loading the same resource
with all resolutions(by specifying 0,0) does return only the previously loaded
resolution, skipping others. Putting that icon on a button makes button image
giant due to wrong resolution.
eg:
HICON hIconBig = (HICON)LoadImage(HInstance, MAKEINTRESOURCE(iIconLarge),
IMAGE_ICON, 32, 32, LR_DEFAULTCOLOR | LR_SHARED);
Loads and cache only 32x32 image
LoadImage(LGetHInstance(), MAKEINTRESOURCE(iIconSmall), IMAGE_ICON, 16, 16,
LR_DEFAULTCOLOR | LR_SHARED)
Returns 32x32 from cache instead of 16x16
HICON hIcon2 = (HICON)LoadImage(HInstance, MAKEINTRESOURCE(iIconLarge),
IMAGE_ICON, 0, 0, LR_DEFAULTCOLOR | LR_SHARED);
Returns the 32x32 image, even though the icon(.ico resource) has images with
other resolution.
To reproduce - load an icon from a resource with the resolution and LR_SHARED
using the code above, then put it on a button and see the size (or see the size
in a debugger).
This bug does not happen on windows.

This feature works flawlessly in a Windows VM on the same hardware.

Pressing repeatedly TAB key does not iterate over all window elements.
In ReactOS & Wine only links are selected while M$ Windows focuses buttons and
checkboxes too.
This issue may apply system-wide to other 3rd party applications however I
noticed it first in μTorrent 2.2.1 (25302). Did not notice that using Wine

Pressing buttons and checkboxes using mouse (button down only+move) selects
them but they still can't be selected after TAB meets first/upper window

Wine 3.0 terminal output
I used to create prefixes for games with installed DirectX 9.0c by command
wine '<folder>/DXSETUP.exe'
It's comfortable and saves my time.
But in Wine 3.5, DirectX crashes in the beginning of installing and says
"Internal system error occured. Please refer to DXError.log and DirectX.log in
your Windows folder to determine problems".
And now I have to create the game prefix by any other command like
winecfg
and install DirectX in this already created prefix, it doesn't crash in this
way.
Here are all logs from Wine 3.5 and output terminals from Wine 3.0 and 3.5.

In some types of file selection dialog, there is no parent button. The
equivalent dialog in Windows XP does have a parent button, which makes
navigating the directory tree much easier.
If the program opens a selection dialog positioned in a subdirectory, to
navigate to the parent you need to use the treeview on the left side to
navigate down the directory hierarchy instead.
I noticed this while testing WinUAE, but presumably any program which uses the
same type of dialog will be similar.
- Download and run the WinUAE installer. Check the box to run the program at
the end.
- When the WinUAE Properties window appears, click ROM in the treeview then
click one of the "..." buttons to show a file selection dialog. There is no
parent button in the dialog. (There is also no indication of where in the
directory tree the current view is.)

Hi,
I have an old application written with Borland C++ Builder/Delphi.
In this application, the edit control TEdit can display a given charset. With
Wine 1.7.49, this does not work.
The attached image shows a demo application displaying this problem: on the
left side Windows 7, on the right side Wine 1.7.49 (under Linux Mint 17.1). The
charset of the five components is "EASTEUROPE_CHARSET". The yellow rectangle
shows the problem with wine.
P.S. As TButton is a wrapper around a Windows control, the charset does not
work.
Read for example:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4829646/font-charset-and-tbutton
But I think that does not affect the problem with the edit control.
Thank you

ReactOS Calc includes an HtmlHelp file for handling user's manual and runtime
help.
This help file must be copied under "%systemroot%\Help".
Unfortunately, it does not work.
I can see these issues:
1) The htmlhelp file is not found.
This happens because HHCTRL implementation for WINE does not seem to support
command lines including environment strings.
The program uses this command line:
"%systemroot%\\Help\\calc.chm::"
If I replace this string in my software with:
"c:\\windows\\Help\\calc.chm::"
then the help file is open and it is shown.
2) If you press on a key with the right mouse button and select for help, the
tooltip does not appear and HHCTRL prints on the console:
002a:fixme:htmlhelp:HtmlHelpW HH case HH_DISPLAY_TEXT_POPUP not handled.
All tests have been made with the latest sources from repository at the time of
writing (last released version is 4.10).
A ready-to-use executable and help file can be found on my page at sourceforge:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/reactos-calc/
Sincerely.

Installing either corefonts or native riched20.dll works around the problem for

Additionally, text appeared correctly in the application (with built-in

Summary: Performance regression in Prince of Persia 3D
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Hardware: x86

Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: directx-d3d
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: stefan(a)codeweavers.com

Prince of Persia 3D's performance went from perfectly smooth to about 0.5 fps.
I suspect 0b92a6fba7a6e60c6ff1a3729a3b21019c2df0ce is to blame, but I have not
run a regression test yet.
The problem is that the game creates a rather large (2MB)
D3DVBCAPS_SYSTEMMEMORY, maps it (the entire buffer due to API limitations),
writes a handful of vertices and draws a handful of vertices. Currently wined3d
uploads the entire 2MB, evicts the sysmem copy and downloads it from the GPU
every map / unmap / draw cycle.
The most obvious performance fix is not to create a VBO. Doing this restores
the performance, but questions remain.
On startup, the game writes "NetImmerse D3DDriver Info: Hardware supports
system memory textures" and "NetImmerse D3DDriver Info: No AGP support
detected". The first info seems wrong, so it is possible that the game enters a
codepath it does not choose on Windows.
Not creating a VBO is not an option on Core Contexts, so I investigated what's
going wrong with the PBO codepath on. First of all, evicting the sysmem copy
seems like a bad choice. It happens because ddraw buffers are not marked
dynamic. We may want to chance this. The game uses d3d3, so there's no
DDLOCK_DISCARDCONTENTS. The game passes DDLOCK_WAIT | DDLOCK_WRITEONLY to
IDirect3DVertexBuffer::Lock.
Commenting out the eviction call improves performance quite a bit, but it is
still noticeably slow. wined3d_buffer_map maps through heap_memory instead of
glMapBuffer because of the "(flags & WINED3D_MAP_WRITE) && !(flags &
(WINED3D_MAP_NOOVERWRITE | WINED3D_MAP_DISCARD))" condition.
Removing this condition uses glMapBuffer, but does not improve performance. It
seems the large glMapBuffer is still slow, at least on OSX with legacy
contexts.
So there are a few questions that need to be answered:
*) Is the game using a broken codepath?
*) Write tests for sysmem buffers
*) Consider making all d3d3 buffers dynamic
*) Test if the glMapBuffer path is fast on Linux
*) Investigate if Core Contexts + GL_ARB_buffer_storage help on OSX.

See the instructions in bug 11414, comment 10 for information on how to
reproduce.
Obviously, stubbing out MsiMergeDatabase to always succeed is not enough for
the validation to work properly.
I sent a patch to wine-patches which adds the stub, Adding the stub merely
prevents wine from crashing, but the validation does not succeed.

Press SHIFT key and move mouse over popup to keep visible. Works properly the
first time only. The only way to keep subsequent popups visible is to press
SHIFT before MouseOver.

Summary: RichEdit: Wrong behaviour when formating an empty
selection
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.37
Platform: x86
URL: http://www.teamviewer.com
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: richedit
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: caliga(a)arcor.de
In our Software TeamViewer, a Richedit control is used to display chat
messages.
The nick names are colored green or blue, the text should remain black.
This works in general...
But if one side sends several chat messages in row, the nick name is omitted
(by TeamViewer).
And then, an empty selection (where the nickname would be) is formated green or
blue.
It seems, that if this happens the second time, something is screwed up and the
color becomes the default color...
Of course TeamViewer could just NOT format the empty selection with
EM_SETCHARFORMAT, (and this will be done in an upcoming release), but still
this is a wine bug, I think.
To reproduce, start a remote support session in TeamViewer from your Linux-box
to a different TeamViewer, then click on Audio/Video/Chat and type three or
more messages.

ImageList_DrawIndirect does not draw overlay icons in three cases where the
function is taking a shortcut with "goto end;".
This was tested with ReactOS\base\applications\mscutils\devmgmt_new on ReactOS
which is using comctl32 from wine.
Test results:
in 32bit color no overlay icons are not shown at all.
if (!bMask && (has_alpha || (fState & ILS_ALPHA)))
...
if (bIsTransparent)
bResult = alpha_blend_image ...
goto end;
in 16bit Color mode the overlay icons are drawn, but only the part on which the
underlying icon is not transparent (wrong ROP code?)
I don't think this application will work on wine because it relies on setupapi
code which wine will probably does not have.

If my lib32-freetype2 is up to date with version 2.7, the font is ugly, but it

I can submit a testcase for that, but which font can I rely on? Wine doesn't

reproduce the bug just by downloading the file and trying to install.
I kept my terminal open for more than 3 hours beacuse the process is "running"

the terminal will kill it. Therefore I don't know if my console output is
complete or not. If I can help in some way, just tell me! :)

I have i3 configured so that the top bar appears when the super key is held,
and so that I can scroll on the bar to change workspaces. For some reason,
this very often does not work in Eve Online, and instead the bar will appear,
but scrolling on it has no effect, and the mouse pointer keeps the Eve style,
instead of returning to the default as it is supposed to. Other windows allow
me to use the bar to change workspaces, including other fullscreen games
(native (I haven't tried any other wine games)).
This may be an issue with grabbing in fullscreen, as although I have the eve
options set to stay in window mode, pressing the i3 key combination to toggle
fullscreen causes the issue to disappear temporarily. The issue also appears
to occur much less often when I have two monitors enabled.
I filed a bug in i3 here that got closed as working-as-intended:

First, go purist with 'winetricks alldlls=builtin', then
work around bug 33769 with 'winetricks d3dcompiler_43'.
The game seems to start ok, but the initial menu screen

mouse over them) shows ghosts of Strong Bad and his sidekick
when they move.
'winetricks d3dx9_36' works around the problem.

Summary: Calling PageSetupDlgA with invalid default printer

Product: Wine

Reporter: kamil.hornicek(a)reactos.org
Created attachment 58997
--> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=58997
possible solution
This was tested in Windows XP with Wine's comdlg32.dll.
Steps to reproduce:
1. set Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\Device to a
non-existent printer
2. run comdlg32 printdlg test
Expected result:
PageSetupDlgA should fail with PDERR_NODEFAULTPRN
Acutal result:
test_PageSetupDlgA crashes after null pointer dereference in
GdiConvertToDevmodeW
Remarks:
If the value of the system default printer stored in Software\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\Device gets corrupted or is not properly set upon
printer
removal, PageSetupDlgA called with the PSD_RETURNDEFAULT flag will cause an
unhandled exception in gdi32:GdiConvertToDevmodeW after calling it with a null
devmode.
At comdlg32:pagesetup_common@3862 get_default_printer will succeed but the
returned printer will be bogus. Then pagesetup_change_printer will fail trying
to get the default driver. When pagesetup_update_papersize is called few lines
below the devmode stored in the pagesetup_data struct passed to it will be
null, which will lead to the crash.
Solution:
Function comdlg32:pagesetup_common needs to check the return value of
comdlg32:pagesetup_change_printer and return if it fails. Attached is a
possible solution to this bug.

Let me explain it is not negligible. It is error.
For example c2 = 8, c1 = 7

The condition is TRUE!!!
There is other places, not only in tests, for example

In Windows, help files can cause the winhlp32 window to open with fixed
(non-resizeable) dimensions, and/or with no menu strip. Wine winhlp32 does not
support that feature.
For example, download the Age of Empires trial version from
http://www.microsoft.com/games/empires/downloads.htm
direct download URL is
http://download.microsoft.com/download/aoe/Trial/1.0/WIN98/EN-US/MSAoE.exe
Either run MSAoE.exe to install the demo, or use cabextract to unpack the files
inside.
Run winhlp32.exe from Windows under Wine and load Empires.hlp. Notice the
window has no menu strip and cannot be resized. (I tested winhlp32.exe from
Windows 98 and XP.)
Run Wine winhlp32.exe and load Empires.hlp. (The window contents are completely
messed up and unusable, but that's not what this bug covers.) Notice the
winhlp32 window is resizeable and has a menu strip.

On the biggest monitor, wine application don't go fullscreen correctly,
vertically size seems to be limited by the size of the smallest monitor. In my

background stripe in the lower part of the monitor.
Notice that if I don't use fullscreen but drag the windows border I cat enlarge

Hello folks,

--- quote ---
sandbox-attacksurface-analysis-tools
(c) Google Inc. 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018
Developed by James Forshaw
This is a small suite of tools to test various properties of sandboxes on
Windows. Many of the checking
tools take a -p flag which is used to specify the PID of a sandboxed process.
The tool will impersonate
the token of that process and determine what access is allowed from that
location. Also it's recommended
to run these tools as an administrator or local system to ensure the system can
be appropriately enumerated.
CheckExeManifest: Check for specific executable manifest flags.
CheckNetworkAccess: Check access to network stack.
NewProcessFromToken: Create a new process based on existing token.
TokenView: View and manipulate various process token values.
NtApiDotNet: A basic managed library to access NT system calls and objects.
NtObjectManager: A powershell module which uses NtApiDotNet to expose the NT
object manager.
ViewSecurityDescriptor: View the security descriptor from an SDDL string or an
inherited object.
--- quote ---
It's actually a pretty neat "testsuite" for native API, Wine could benefit from
it. I've already found 20+ bugs within one hour of playing with this (missing
exports, stubs, incomplete + incorrect impl. etc.).
Will create more tickets as time/mood permits ;-)

wbemprox: cache videocontroller queries
Specifically League of Legends likes to continuously ask for video controller
specs while in game (every 4 seconds or so).
On my (old?) box this leads to a pretty big framedrop (~15fps when capped at
60) due to dxgi being initialized every time (and thus wined3d) by the
fill_videocontroller function.
The proposed solution caches results for subsequent calls, but I'm not sure
about the implications (i.e. do we expect any of those fields to change in the
lifespan of a wine application?)
Comments welcome

After working around bug 38350 the IDE opens and functions but some of the

Rally Trophy log trace+dinput
Rally Trophy uses DirectInput's device configuration window. There are some
bugs that make device configuration difficult and for example a racing wheel
impossible to use.
Device configuration usually doesn't show the currently mapped keys for
keyboard especially when a racing wheel is connected. If it shows they are only
default keys and not the currently mapped keys.
If a function is already mapped to a key by you, you can't change it to an
another key anymore. For example you set 'shift up' to 's' key and go to play,
then you go back to device configuration and set 'shift up' to 'd' key and
again go to play. You will notice that 'd' key does not change a gear.
In full version of Rally Trophy the key mappings are saved, but in Rally Trophy
Demo in wine they are not. The keys are always the default ones when you start
the game.
In Windows you can select a player (Pelaaja 1/Player 1) for the device when you
want to use it. Wine does not see the player and shows only a blank list, so
you can't get a racing wheel in to use.
However a racing wheel becomes usable if keyboard and mouse enumeration is
deleted from IDirectInput8AImpl_EnumDevicesBySemantics from wine's code.
Logs are made with these steps:
1. Start the game
2. Go to device configuration
3. Set key 's' to 'shift up'
4. Go to in game
5. Close the game with alt+f4
A racing wheel is connected when logging.
Tested wine version is the latest git.

Summary: MetaTrader 4 installer hangs at the very end of file
extraction
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.23
Platform: PC
URL: http://www.metatrader4.com/files/mt4setup.exe
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: msvcrt

ReportedBy: arethusa26(a)gmail.com

With today's Git (wine-1.1.23-221-gafce86b), the MetaTrader installer hangs at
the very end of file extraction at "C:\Program Files\MetaTrader
4\mailbox\1190736044.english" with sufficient responsiveness to handle the
Cancel button being pressed, which merely hides the installer window until a
Ctrl+C interrupt is sent to the installer. The installer worked properly in
1.0.1, and the regression test revealed:
1c91d54503f9b2afa513dc4dd79bf19bc9bad51a is first bad commit
commit 1c91d54503f9b2afa513dc4dd79bf19bc9bad51a

Reverting the commit in HEAD allows the installer to start.

Installed Webtrends Log Analyzer 6.5 which works fine, then created a new
profile which also works fine. The problem is when trying to create a new
Report for a profile, it is able to read the web server logs OK, but errors out
when it starts to generate the report to write to disk. The error reported in
Webtrends is:
Unable to extract bmpinfo (using VIC32.DL) from file "C:\Program
Files\WebTrends Log Analyzer\reports\Web
Analysis\TempGraphFiles\ms-2010-0800.bmp"
This BMP file is created, but it is zero bytes in size. At the same time that
this error occurs in Webtrends, in the bash terminal Wine is reporting this
error:

I'm using Wine 1.1.17 (compiled from source using gcc version 4.3.2 20081105
(Red Hat 4.3.2-7) ) on Fedora 10 i386.
The problem is with undocked toolbars which are incorrectly displayed.
The problem is also with dragging them. They should be also draggable when I
click and hold mouse pointer over title of the toolbar.
Problem exists in AutoCAD 2008 and AutoCAD Mechanical 2008.
I attached image that shows the problem. All cuttings were done with unchecked
option "Allow the window manager to decorate the windows". Last cutting was
done in MS Windows XP running AutoCAD 2007. The problem exists also in Wine

The game runs slowly, especially while moving the cursor in-game.
I've tried various winetricks configs with: ddr=opengl/ddr=gdi, rtlm=readtex,
orm=backbuffer as well as setting a flag in ra2.ini for
[Video]VideoBackBuffer=no - nothing works. Even looked at a 'lag fix' here that
does nothing: http://www.stuffhost.de/files/cnc/CnCPatcher.html

was trigger happy and 'CLOSED FIXED' these without actually testing - people
are still reporting its a problem.

Reproduced in notepad when using File->Open... dialog.
In Windows if dragging the open file dialog to a new location, on the next time
it is opened it will be opened at the same location.
In Wine it is always opened at the top left corner of the application.
This is quite inconvenient on a big screen with maximized app.
Note that when resizing the dialog, wine does remember the size on the next
open so hopefully the position could be a slight extension to this.
Regards,
Gur

Download and install the game, after the intro videos the game will crash while
loading bitmaps. The crash happens shortly after a BMP image is loaded.
This is a continuation of bug 21012.
