crash log
The game Gray Matter (the version from GOG) crashes when a new game is started.
The last message from Wine is
03b:fixme:d3dx:ID3DXEffectImpl_CloneEffect (0x47f5360)->(0x17be28, 0x5f74420):
stub
This is a regression of some sort. The game runs with staging 2.21 (in fact I
completed the entire game with this version).
The game does not start with vanilla Wine 2.21. If Appdb is to be believed the
game was playable back in 1.9.14, but building older Wine releases is
troublesome so I haven't been able to bisect:
Error: Cannot open face courier.ttf
Makefile:172: recipe for target 'coue1255.fon' failed
make[1]: *** [coue1255.fon] Error 1
The game requires the following winetricks: mdx xact d3dcompiler_43.
Bug filed against 3.2 but tried against wine-3.2-256-g7b62a970e9.

ConEmu shows "ConEmuC64.exe: PID=132: GetConsoleProcessList failed, code=0" at
startup due to GetConsoleProcessList being just a stub.
Returning zero is an error according to documentation, "because every console
has at least one process associated with it".
Then ConEmu starts successfully, so this is a minor issue.

AFxW window after launching
AFxW[1], aka あふw in Japanese, is an ultra-low functionality two-pane file
manager.
After launching AFXW.EXE, it should show file lists in panes as seen in [2].
But, it doesn't on Wine.
@momota1999, a reporter on Twitter, tweeted list items would be shown by moving
the cursor (with up/down arrow keys) and the issue didn't occur on Wine 4.0
(Debian 4.0-2). I can confirm both of them with AFxW v1.65.
Steps to reproduce:
1. unzip afxw32_165.zip
2. LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 wine AFXW.EXE
Expected result:
File list panes are updated on start-up without any key inputs. You can see
file names, their size and time stamps in the panes.
Actual result:
File list panes aren't updated on start-up. You can't see anything in the
panes.
Please refer to the attachment about this situation.

Crash on authentication
As of version 1917874 of the EVE Online launcher, the application crashes when
trying to log in. According to the developers, they moved to a new credential
management solution (involving https://github.com/frankosterfeld/qtkeychain and
the Windows Credential Store), and they said that Wine currently doesn't
implement the needed syscalls for this to function.
I've attached a stacktrace which looks like it crashes somewhere in cryptopp,
but I haven't been able to figure out much by debugging (winedbg doesn't see
any of those function addresses as valid, and I haven't been able to map them
to functions in a disassembler). Let me know if I can provide any more
information that would be helpful.

Bad behavior
The issue affects SourceInsight 4 in particular. SourceInsight has its own
built-in theme functionality which doesn't get along well with any non-standard
Wine theme.
When a non-standard Wine theme is selected, then the main toolbar in SI4
ignores its app theme and always gets drawn with the selected Wine theme.
Selecting the default Wine theme fixes the issue - the toolbar is drawn
according to the app theme. On Windows it's ok no matter which UI theme is set.
Screenshot of the issue is attached.
The root cause of the issue is that
UXTHEME_broadcast_msg/UXTHEME_broadcast_msg_enumchild in dlls/uxtheme/system.c
both use a PostMessage() call to send WM_THEMECHANGED to affected window(s).
In SI4 the main toolbar is implemented as a combination of a custom container
window (si_Rebar class) and a standard win32 Rebar control (RebarWindow32
class).
Immediately after creating the RebarWindow32 window, SI4 does
SetWindowTheme(hwndRebar, L" ", L" ") for it.
According to MSDN
(https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/api/uxtheme/nf-uxtheme-setwi…)
> The theme manager retains the pszSubAppName and the pszSubIdList associations through the lifetime of the window, even if visual styles subsequently change. The window is sent a WM_THEMECHANGED message at the end of a SetWindowTheme call, so that the new visual style can be found and applied.
>
> When pszSubAppName and pszSubIdList are NULL, the theme manager removes the previously applied associations. You can prevent visual styles from being applied to a specified window by specifying an empty string, (L" "), which does not match any section entries.
- this L" ", L" " stuff means that SI4 DOES NOT want for system visual styles
being applied to its RebarWindow32 control. However, according to WINEDEBUG
logs they were applied to all bg erase, painting etc operations no matter the
SetWindowTheme(, L" ", L" ") call.
Turns out that RebarWindow32' WndProc receives WM_THEMECHANGED too late, after
all stuff including drawing already happened with the system-wide theme being
applied. The reason why it was received so late is simple - SetWindowTheme
implementation in wine uses PostMessage() instead of SendMessage(). Replacing
it with a SendMessage() call allows to fix the bug.
I've checked what Windows actually does in SetWindowTheme and found out that it
always uses SendMessage to send WM_THEMECHANGED (for any HWND).
So. suggested fix:

In Morocco the currency sign has 5 characters. This is simply not supported by

But even the currency sign is only two characters VarParseNumFromStr() fails
because it advances a pointer by one character only. For instance with Polish:
varformat.c:641: str=L"0,000 z\0142"
varformat.c:643: Test failed: Unexpected hr 0x80020005.
Note that the w10pro64 TestBot Windows VMs have an incorrect UserDefaultLCID so
that these issues are not actually tested (see bug 51451). The w7u VMs are more
correct in this regard but only test simple European cases (€).

On wine-6.12-162-gd10887b8f56
Full solution is in the attachment, but Wine is improperly formatting floats
when using printf "%g" or iostreams. A very simple example is:
std::cout << 9.999999999999999e-5 << std::endl;
It should print "0.0001". It does print "0".
Of course, this affects much larger and more complicated programs, too.
Tested on Ubuntu 20.04, although I don't think it matters.

Hi there.
While checking out Total Commander and one of my own TC plugins on Wine 4.0.2
on Debian 10.7 I saw that it failed to read the description of all services.
After double-checking my code (and confirming its correctness) I saw Wine's
output on the terminal:
> 006b:err:service:validate_context_handle Access denied - handle created with access 1, needed 4
Then I downloaded the source code of the current version dev version 6.0-rc4,
searched all files (because I didn't know where to look) and found the culprit
in programs/services/rpc.c, more precise in function
svcctl_QueryServiceConfig2W where it makes the call to
validate_service_handle() in line 984.
The bug and fix for it is simple: The needed access right must be
SERVICE_QUERY_CONFIG instead of SERVICE_QUERY_STATUS, since it's the service
config queried here, not its status.
Out of curiosity, I checked half a dozen older versions and found that this bug
has been in the code since its implementation back in Wine 1.1.14. This more
than a decade old wine didn't age well ;). But I guess this is a simple
copy'n'paste error.
Maybe check for similar bugs/mistakes in the other functions when fixing this
one.
Regards

called from a service. This test fails on Linux when the desktop environment
places the taskbar / dock at the top of the screen. For instance on fg-deb64:

service.c:422: Test failed: service: Unexpected monitor rcWork values:
{0,30,3840,2160}
Here rcWork.top == 30 which is exactly the height of the KDE taskbar.
Notes:
* We probably would have a similar failure if the KDE taskbar was placed on the
left side because then rcWork.left would probably no longer be zero.
* Placing the Windows taskbar at the top or on the left does not cause a
failure: in all cases rcMonitor == rcWork == (0, 0, 1024, 768) == full screen
size in the TestBot VMs. This probably means the bug is in Wine's
GetMonitorInfoA() implementation.
* Interestingly user32:monitor does not fail, but then it does not seem to
expect left and top to be zero.

Source code for the primary exe to recreate the issue
It is possible for a child process to inherit an invalid hStdOutput HANDLE if
the PE header has the subsystem value of IMAGE_SUBSYSTEM_WINDOWS_GUI and it is
launched via ShellExecuteEx.
It also requires the primary process to be launched via:
- 'wine' if it is a PE32+ executable; or

Attached are two source files that can be used to recreate the issue:
1. main.c (the primary process); and

commit 6b277dc89d55.

WINEDEBUG=+relay,+process,+module,+loaddll BAD
MSBuild from Visual Studio build tools 2019 fails to launch FileTracker which
is needed for incremental builds. This apply for Wine 6.3 but it works on
Staging. I bisected this to wow64cpu patchset which is tracked in bug 45567.
Then I found that there are patches for wow64cpu on the list for upstream. But
these don't fix the problem. So after investigating this further I've found
this: what really fixes the problem is calling load_builtin_dll() in
process_init() and this builtin dll must not be in PE format. If -mno-cygwin is
enabled, it does not work. It is not important which exports the library has,
no need for setting Wow64Transition.
I'm attaching two traces - good and bad. Maybe someone could identify what is
happening here.

"Youkoso! Sukebe Elf no Mori e Trial Version"[1](ようこそ! スケベエルフの森へ 体験版) is a demo
version of NSFW visual novel (18+) released by Lune in Japan, 2017.
The first time we start the game, it asks about monitor settings. In thumbnail
test during the settings, the reduced image should be shown at the top left
corner of the window. However, it isn't shown on Wine.
Probably, this issue is common among its game engine, AGE_System.

Melodyne activation backtrace
I succesfully installed Melodyne 5 with Wine Staging 5.22, gdiplus and
vcrun2019 overrides and this patch
https://source.winehq.org/patches/data/186184 (from bug 49286).
It runs ok, but when I try to activate it, I'm getting an error instead of
opening a browser window that should lead to activation page. There is no
errors in the console output.
The error message from Melodyne itself has such lines:
identifier = "com.celemony.https.request_failed.12152.1";
message = "Could not receive response.";
Wine backtrace with WINEDEBUG=+winhttp,+winsock,+wininet,+secur32 is in
attachment.
In Melodyne error I see HTTP error code 12152, and in wine's backtrace I see
the line:
0110:trace:winhttp:read_line returning empty string
According to wine's source code in winhttp/request.c line 2393, it produces
ERROR_WINHTTP_INVALID_SERVER_RESPONSE, which is that exact error code 12152.
Also, the error occurs after Celemony website returns a redirect for first POST
request.
So my guess is that something might be wrong with wine handling the redirect
